Perhaps they took onboard the ‘feedback’ and decided to act upon it. I applaud them for this if it is the case, a lot of dev’s would have just said “Screw it, it’s done now”.
Maybe saying a long while back that LE didn’t get those exclusive helmets then two weeks til launch saying it did wasn’t enough?..
No idea to be quite honest. The news is well received but 343i has been kind of messing with us when it comes to solid information.
I think that they always had a plan to show the rank, however wasnt going to release that plan till later when it may have been close to finished. Much like they did with…i dont know…A bunch of other things in the game.
No way could they have decided all this in the past 24 hours after the feedback. The game is being shipped already with stuff that tracks your games and will give you a rank in the future. I think they must have just been trolling us all. shrugs
I don’t think you understand. You still can’t view other people’s ranks in-game. You have to go on Waypoint, look up that person/yourself, and see what rank they are.
It’s just another way of saying: SURPRISE!

They were simply saying the technical side of things. They said no visible ranks, then later said it is possible to make it visible in a TU. But that doesn’t mean that they are going to make it visible, it just means they can if they want.
Because this isn’t in game?
I bet they were just going to keep it silent until the internal testing of us players online delivered some feed back with results and possible exploits.
Instead they decided to tell us to avoid any more uproar.
The main reason they are waiting a couple of months is because that will give most players enough time to unlock everything so the game is completely fair by the time the Ranking System comes out.
Yesterday during the live stream it was said that there would be hidden skill ranks and that in they were looking into ways of making it visible to players post launch. I would say that they weren’t going to bother releasing plans for something set to be released next year (the visible ranks) until the forum goers got flustered over the lack of a visible number. As far as I can tell, they have not at all given information only to change it around. They were just forced to release future plans a little early because of the response from the forums.
