Because 343 got the genius idea to follow MMO’s and have a season-arena type of competitive playlist where ranks are reset every month or so. I say genius sarcastically in case you didn’t catch it.
They did it this way because the ranking system now isn’t just 1-50, it’s actually ranking the top 500 players/teams, #1, #2, etc…So in order to prevent people from just getting to the top and sitting there, they make it so you have to continuously play to maintain rank.

Why so sarcastic? I like the idea of seasons resetting ranks. Especially if you feel like you were overly ranked in various playlists. I’m certainly not a Platinum player, so I’m happy to have a chance to be reassessed.

Pretty sure Halo Reach had leagues or seasons too.
Because some of us were either over-ranked or under-ranked in certain playlists, and so they reset the ranks so that we have another chance to make things right.
Unfortunately I’ve been placed in the exact same ranks as last time, so…

Also because Season 1 of Arena just kicked off.
Is the “new” ranking system still working with wins?
