I’m being very sincere here. 2 months after Halo 4 launched it just started to get better and I ask what’s the reason? Only now does the competitive community start getting catered to. Why wasn’t something there for us at the start? Why is it that an Former MLG Pro knows the competitive community better then entire matchmaking team at 343? Ever since Bravo came in, things have started to get better. I have a feeling if he hadn’t come in, we wouldn’t have gotten catered to.
Do you guys feel the same way? The moment Bravo came into 343 everything got better all of a sudden. Before Bravo came, everything was complete crap. So I ask you this 343, in all due honestly without disrespect, how much of Halo matchmaking does your team know about? How much do they know of how a competitive Halo scene is supposed to operate?
I’m very happy about this weeks bulletin and I first hand thank 343 and Bravo for what hes doing for the competitive community.
I hope for Halo 5 they do extensive research into the Halo Trilogy’s multiplayer. I also hope that they keep some form of Infinity Slayer though, but not just implement its mechanics into most game modes.
IDK maybe they just felt or maybe most of all frankie since hes the person getting most of the hate. If you were getting hate from anywhere you almost all Halo fans would you respond as fast as he did. Though you are right it took them a while Maybe its because they put so much emphasis on statistics even running being made a permanant thing is because of statistics from reach. I’s sure that Bravo did open their eyes though.

Yes I sincerely do. Hopefully Halo 4 has taught 343, this isn’t how you start off a trilogy by not making anything competitive.
> I just don’t see why they can’t just cater to everyone with a ranked and social playlist while keeping the game true to what made it special.
That everyone is wondering. But they took the playlist idea from Reach which isn’t a good thing, and since they had Reach’s progression system, they didn’t feel the need to include ranked and social playlists. I’m hoping the progression system won’t return for Halo 5, it’s already hated as it is in both Reach and Halo 4. Why 343 doesn’t understand this however, we don’t know.

The only reason Frankie gets so much hate is because he’s the one who was against the 1-50 rank system.
You realize they can’t react and cater to everyone straight away right?
They get hate for rotational playlists (which is dumb) but they’re still testing them. They’re bring out CSR, yes it’s only visible on waypoint, but where are you at the moment? So it’s not going to hurt to refresh the page after every match to see your rank when you’re already here.
They are listening. They can’t cater to everyone when everyone has their own opinions and they can’t react straight away.

That would make sense if it wasn’t for the fact that everyone was vocal about Reach’s awful system. And what do they do? Copy it. People hated the crap in Reach, what did 343 expect? For people to like it just because they implemented it?
I would say 343 had an idea that they knew what the communities wanted, but they’re finally realizing they need a second perspective on things. Hopefully this trend will continue for other parts of the community such as custom gamers (though I really do not see that happening).
Bravo is certainly a positive way to go, and I hope things get better.

Yes, I agree with that. I still have no idea why the rank is to 130. Why not 50lvs per class. Makes more sense to me, and takes longer. Also CSR should of been there from the start yes. But still, my point was everyone complains over something and want it fixed, if it’s not fixed in that hour they keep saying how they’re not doing anything and all that jazz.
EDIT: The biggest thing I don’t understand is why they took out the one good thing from reach. The search settings. I don’t want to play in lag fest games, I would at least like the good connection and region filters back.

A lot of vocal people hated things in Reach. There were others (and a good number from my experience) that liked things like AA’s and loadouts. There were people who hated the TU and others who loved it. The forums are filled with a lot of vocal people, and hate threads often get a lot more attention than threads that say “I like this or that”.

Bungie had no problem catering to everyone with Halo 2 and 3.
They should’ve been tested before they game launched. Theres no reason why, they’ve had 5 years to test this.
They should’ve had the CSR implemented at launch, they’ve had a couple years to test it out and perfect it.
They didn’t start listening until the first bulletin of 2013 when they admitted they could have done better. Now when Bravo joins the team do they start listening because Bravo actually knows what hes doing.
They are developers, not players. They may be players but not in the same sense as the community. Bravo, hes a player, he knows what the community wants. Hes played at the top level. His addition will do great things for all of us, no matter what part of the community youre in. The reason its probably taking so long is that there is a chain of command, i am willing to bet that countless meetings have been held since launch. Battles were fought, and probably stalemates in the decision on what to do. So they brought in an expert.
> Bungie had no problem catering to everyone with Halo 2 and 3.
Yes they did. Ever hear of “halo2sucks.com”? Or go look up some of the old hate threads from Halo 3’s days.

So all those weekly updates after launch mean nothing? Or the bulletin talking about a TU being in the works since at least december?

From different Game Companys. That doesn’t mean they know how a Halo title works. If the Halo 3 matchmaking team was brought over from Bungie, I assure you, we would’ve gotten a competitive Halo.

I’m not arguing with you, Don;t know why you’re coming off hostile.
You have a different definition of ‘catering to everyone’.
Not everyone who voices their opinions and thoughts on a game go heard, More or less the positive feedback, nobody responds to that. The only threads that get any attention are “OMG 343! Do they Deserve another halo Game” and threads like that have pages of responses. Positive threads have either no response or one or two. The negative opinions get heard more because they make a bigger noise. There is more sides to “This sucks” then one persons opinion.

Obviously not since they didn’t bring any players back and very few were satisfied. I did hear of Halo 2 sucks and Halo 2 thus has been known as the prime of the Halo series. As for the TU, until we actually know what is being fixed, why would we worry about it? Why should we pay attention to it at all or hope that the TU will make or break the game?

They dont even need that, they have all the engines! It would have been easy to build off the halo3 engine rather than the reach engine.

I’m not coming off as hostile, don’t know why your thinking that. But positive threads do get more attention then you think, just as much as some of the negative threads actually. My definition of catering to everyone isn’t very different from the rest however. Catering to both sides of the community which a lot of Game Devs happen to do just fine result in the longevity of the game. Catering to one crowd just to try to attract new players and or make more sales then your rivals doesn’t help a games longevity at all.

These are personailty traits that no one can change. The fact is, people who dont enjoy something, will try everything there power to ruin it for everyone, because they are unhappy and want other to unhappy as well.
There are some people on these forums, who never have a single nice thing to say and will pick a fight with anyone who disagrees with them.
