I was once temp-banned for a legitimate reason. But mine lasted 24 hours.
I think all temp bans last for 24 hours.

Nope. The first ban is 24hrs. The second ban is I believe a week, then 2 weeks, then a month, then 6 months. After the 6 month ban I think its a permanent ban.
A brief look into your game history doesnt show any reason for a temp ban on credits other than you play so much you probably have hit the daily credit cap of 200,000 credits.
I dont know if you are aware but the game does have a daily cap on credits of 200,000 and once you hit it you have a temp ban placed on you for the remainder of the day. Looking at the day you made this post and the corresponding days game history makes me think that that is all that has happened.
Temp bans for exceeding the daily credit cap reset at midnight each night in your local time zone. When ranking from Reclaimer to Inheritor i would hit the cap every day for almost 2 weeks straight and every night at midnight i would start earning credits again.

Those guys playing with clear tags are modding. You should file a complaint using XBL system but from what i have seen they doesnt last long before they are detected and hance forth perma banned. If they are modding their tag they are sure as hell modding other stuff too.
