Why did I get demoted

I joined Xbox live on halo reach when I was max rank and then it took my credits and demoted me

Yeah, the same thing happened to me a few years back.

I’d like at least some explanation, even if it was so long ago.

To put it simply you were demoted to maintain the integrity of the online ranking system. Since no one can independently verify how that offline cR was earned (modding, idling, afk’ing, etc…) it’s no surprise that it’s revoked when you go online otherwise there’d be an influx of Inheritors online with no game stats or history to back up their rank.
