Is there really no official way to dispute or challenge or otherwise mitigate these bans ? It seems Little Moa is the only person who helps at all, but AKAIK he is not someone who can do anything other than help someone figure out why they were banned.
It seems to me that some kind of “ban advocate” is needed, because many of these bans are due to clearly unintentional behavior.
you are very right i agree with him and thank you moa also i was banned again from credits i dont know why i stoped afking and everything i had three days off my second banned and bam i log in and again it says im banned its so frustrating i mite just quit im paying for online services and im getting banned for little things so many people swear and say violent things online but they never get a ban why are the good players getting them if someone could help i wuold be nice
Ok, so here I am posting AGAIN. I thought these temporary credit bans were TEMPORARY. It’s been over 4 days since I last played REACH with my 5 year old son, and the last time we played I made sure he was getting at least one kill every game with the exception of a couple. Regardless, it’s been 4 days since we’ve even touched the game. Then I get on here this evening, and I my console is STILL banned from earning credits. This is rediculous! The only answer I get is someone snarkily telling me I should just go play firefight with him? SERIOUSLY? You’re going to punish people for being bad players (as in, they suck at the game)? Way to get people to love you guys! Honestly, I’m only still playing because I don’t give two licks less about the credits, and I think it’s pretty laughable that you guys take them so seriously that you ban people from getting them because they suck at the game (or cheat to get them by standing around in a game and not playing it), is it really such a terrible thing that people try to get credits, which are used to purchase “prettier” armor and armor effects, yes, COSMETIC things? Why yes, I am complaining that I cannot earn credits, but it has nothing to do with the fact that I even care to spend these credits, it’s based on the principle alone that you would seriously punish someone for being a horrible player. So what am I doing right now? LI completely get that your system is automated and does what it’s coded to do, but seriously, don’t sit here and tell me that you guys aren’t sophisticated enough to tell the program to decipher whether or not someone is actually firing their gun, running around, driving vehicles, and attempting to actually kill people. I’m one irritated mommy right now over this.

I was placed on a temporary ban for two weeks from earning credits. i was only 2 days from earning the rank of Inheritor and when i signed on tonight after the update is when i received the message of being banned. i have been completing Custom Challenges of 800 Kills and 400 Head Shots while playing Firefight Matchmaking Doubles to earn more credits to get to Inheritor a bit quicker, but i haven’t cheated to get where i am now. I’ve been playing reach since Dec of 2010 nearly everyday to earn the rank that i’m at and to be this close and then get the ban is very disheartening. Please could you help remove this unjustified ban? Thank you.

I was playing Team Slayer 2 days ago, and I got the 50k jackpot. I played about 3 more games and then realized I had reached the credit cap. When I got off, the next day I got on and it said I was temporarily banned for two weeks from earning credits. And now I wonder do I get banned for reaching the credit cap? Gamertag: vDream Kush.
I was playing with a forerunner, and he asked me if he wanted to spawn trap to boost my k/d. We did and were getting 65/12 games, and he asked his some of his clan members if they wanted to all put in a guest and so we could get 150/0 games. So we did and it says I was banned the next day. Is it because we were boosting? I’m guessing it wasn’t because they didn’t get banned. But I want a future reference if I get banned and so I don’t make the same silly mistake again. Also, how long is a “temporarily banned” ban?
To add to my post about 16 hours ago i have noticed that when i review my profile now that it’s showing up that i have only been playing Halo for 1 year. i have been playing Halo going on 5 years now and this change occurred after the latest update on February 23. i also noticed that all my Temporary History in my Theater was erased some how. Why can’t i review my games now in the Theater, i didn’t erase my history nor have i reviewed the Theater in about 4 weeks now? i also noticed that before i shut down my console after my last Firefight Matchmaking Game that my Credits were 2,000 less then after the update occurred. Is there anyway i can find out if anyone hacked my account? i did nothing wrong to be put on this 2 Week Temporary Ban for Earning Credits. i have been playing Firefight Matchmaking Doubles with Custom Challenges, but that wasn’t cheating when i completed and turned in the challenges after completing the games.

I was temporarily banned from receiving credits recently. I haven’t done anything remotely illegal or even rude to a single player besides muting them, so what is this for? Is there a way to fix it? I just got the weekend off from work and I’m looking forward to playing, it just sucks knowing you can’t level while playing.

Am I banned from posting? I recently had an issue with some serious harassment on the threads. I reported the issue I am posting this thread to address the issue of harassment in the forums. As you can see I am new to the forums. I am also a huge fan of the game. I recently posted a thread and was immediately besieged by people acting very much outside of the established GUIDLINES i.e. name calling, posting way off topic, rude remarks.
I posted another thread HEREand same thing. I was sad to see that something I put some much time in was being taken over by a couple people wanting attention.
Well today I have had enough. I have reported two of the would be harassers (commonly refereed to as trolls).
It was my desire to get discussion going around an issue that is important to me but instead the entire thread began to revolve around them highlighting my every post and making there tasteless replies. Funny thing is that I have cruised the threads some now and I see these same people making nasty pointless remarks in other threads.
If anyone else has had this type of harassment I urge you to REPORT and stand your ground.
Here’s hoping the rules are enforced and the community.

Seems I am able to post now. The issue of harassment still hasn’t been addressed though and I think it should.
so i been reading in this forum from page one to the end and i can see a certain pattern here. First off early on in the forum many people were advising that just the fact that you got a no kill match wasnt enough to get you banned but here towards the end people are saying that , yes a no kill match will get you banned. sound dishonest on the games part. Im a new player, you can check my profile, im what you would call a noob. i have turned in a few no kill matches and a lot of 1 kill and many many deaths. im scared to play anymore because i may get banned. Second the afk’ing is worrisome. i understand the intent but to tell someone they cant go to the restroom mid game is crazy, if i gotta pee then golly im gonna go pee. I dont feel like i need to consult with halo to make an appointment to pee. Plus life demands our attention from time to time and it never consults with me for an approrite time. One last thought, i have been put into matches where one team is partyed up and usually my team is solo players and the end result is usually 100-50. i dont feel thats a fair game, at all and if i chose to quit then i should be able to do that. im not here to be target practice for a supior team. im trying to get better myself. its not a problem with me its a problem with matchmaking. i shouldnt be made to suffer because of poor programing. ive also noticed that early in the forum a lot of questions were being answered, not so much anymore. if the questions are not being answered then the new guys like me will never know your reasoning.
i just want to point out that i have never been banned for any reason and ive had xbox live since 2006, im a good player but if i ever get banned unfairly and all halo basicly has to say is tough then i will never buy another product by them again. in fact after reading this forum, chances are i wont be buying the next game. i enjoy playing with my kids and i shouldnt have to worry about bans when everybody is being honest, we may suck but we suck fairly.

i may have found out the reason why i was put on this Temporary Ban. To answer my own question and to possibly help others i will post the possible reason why:
After reviewing my games played on Bungie.net i noticed about 25 games ago and a few times before that that i had zero kills in Firefight Matchmaking Doubles with a status of DNF.
These occurances happened when the random player the server assigned to my Doubles Match didn’t like the games that i picked during the voting round and to be jerks about it, they voted for 2X Score Attack.
Each time when they did this i backed out of the game before the games loaded thinking that the server would just assign another person to this random player and he or she could just play another game. In this case the Banhammer Program may have register the game as me being AFKing, which was not the case.
In all cases for my individual ban i was not AFKing nor did i quit after the game loaded, so i believe this is an unjustified ban. Also i didn’t earn any credits for these matches that i backed out of before they loaded.
The abbreviation AFK means Away From Keyboard (Controller) in which if you’re caught by the Banhammer Program doing it, it will put you on a Temporary Ban on Earning Credits. The bans in order as i understand them are: 1st Ban: 24 hrs. 2nd Ban: 48 hrs. 3rd Ban: 1 Week. 4th Ban: 2 Weeks. i don’t know what comes next. You don’t get banned for hitting your credit limit as one person suggested earlier.
If we sign in a guest during our matches and they earn no kills the Banhammer Program Automatically assumes we are AFKing and after so many games it will put us on a Temporary Ban, even if it’s our guest not earning any kills for any reason.
I was here about a month ago for the same reason of AFKing and didn’t know what the heck AFKing even was. i had some persons even attack my character here in the previous posts claiming i knew what i was doing wrong and was just mad, because i got caught.
When 343 puts the changes in i hope they put 2x Score Attack and Limited in a Seperate List under Firefight Matchmaking Doubles that doesn’t show up under the Arcade Voting List.
In any case of AFKing the person or persons that like to do this aren’t helping themselves, because you aren’t able to get as many kills if you don’t get through all the rounds alone or with a poorly skilled guest that doesn’t earn any kills. i have played quite my share of Firefight Doubles Matches and i earn more kills with a player that works together as one co-operatively, splitting up the map and making it to the Bonus Rounds. Making it to the Bonus Round earns both players more overall kills. I hope this helps.
To help you out with a bit of some background. i don’t have that much skill in Muti-Player Matchmaking as an Reclaimer and certain games against Clan Teams or loaded Inheritors if i die the 1st time, its pretty much over for me after that. If i don’t get any kills before i get killed the 1st time in these matches then i mayn’t earn a single kill the rest of the game, because i’m killed as soon as i spawn everytime.
i hope this this may help you by saying this, but you can select Search Restrictions under the Playlist based on Good Connection, Language and Skill. When you select certain Voting Options the games will load slower, but you will get to play at the Restriction you choose, which in your case may be Skill.
You also can file a Rep under a Players Profile for anyone you wish to avoid playing against again by selcting the Players Skill Level is to Good. There are also those out there with AIMBOT Headshot Cheat MODS and you pretty much can see who they are by the extreme amount of Multi-Kills during Matches.
When i first began playing Halo Reach in December of 2010 i noticed some players remaining in place during the entire matches while jumping up and down. They would stay in these matches for hours while earning credits for completeing games and promotions while not even playing in the game. i guess Bungie or 343 whoever is responsabile for Banhammer has no other way to Quality Control all the games played, so thats why Banhammer came about. i hope this helps and if you want any further help send me a friend request at TheWrathIsNow to help you with your skill level and to provide you some game playing tips.
This is seriously a problem for the reach community. Why the heck are they allowed to ban us for periods at a time for no reason what so ever. And we have absolutely no way of contacting them within a meaningful time. Did they just forget the reach community once work began on halo 4?
