What’s with all this I let my brother/sister/girlfriend/cat play crap? Give me a break.
My live account, x4got2duck, was temp banned after a series of games where poor host connection caused a majority of players to drop connection. These dropped connections, caused by poor choice of player hosting, count as “quitting” and have earned me a temporary ban. This has happened before, and upon contacting support I was assured I would have my ban undone and that steps would be taken to ensure this would not happen again. I can only assume these steps haven’t been taken. These 15 minute bans can be grating on my patience.

-yes, my internet is relatively low quality, however it is consistent enough for me to play SWTOR on, so it should be good enough for Halo. I haven’t had these issues with other games, only Halo. No, I cannot do anything about the internet, yes, my nat is always open, no, contacting centurylink is not an option, as I’ve done this before for more important reasons, and they -Yoinked!- around instead of fixing my internet. IF you are thickheaded enough to reply with a generic “You are getting lagged out, try contacting centurylink” I will call you a moron and tell you to go get laid.

I was just Dced AGAIN along with a quarter of the total lobby, and those of my friends in my party still in the game report it being so laggy that its unplayable. Lag issues aside, this reset my quitting ban, again, first game back from the last one.

That’s a host problem, 343 haven’t dramatically made Reach’s servers worse, the Matchmaking system doesn’t even run on servers, it is all peer to peer, meaning its you, or the host.
You admitted to us your connection isn’t the best, therefore nothing you can do about it, nor can 343, if you want it to stop, change ISPs, your quit ban will not be removed.

Your account is YOUR responsibility, for all we know your ‘girlfriend’ could have dropped the controller and walked off if you left the room.

Your account is YOUR responsibility, it doesn’t matter who did it, it still happened, if its a first time ban, 24-48 hours long.
Why is it crap? My wife plays just as much as me and is getting better.
And Moa, I’m over 48 hours into the 2nd ban… andy idea when or if it will be lifted?

im a inheritor and never got banned for it! Wouldn’t compute unless you manually enhanced your rank using other mechanics or software!

second banned i believe is a week to two weeks! AFKing or stalling in Matching making is not ok if thats what you are doing.

I understand its not ok and I get it, but no we are not doing that. Some games, like team sniper, I or she didn’t get a kill. Its not like our players are just standing idle. We are moving, firing, everything except getting a kill. This has happened a few times (not getting a kill) but everything was fine up until two days ago (been playing for about 2 weeks).
Its frustrating and honestly a load of horse excrement. Any way to get a hold of 343 and try to get it fixed?
Wow i think you should take a look at this. The Booting/ban system is a auto favoring system. Btw I think you should put her in customs or in Mult-team if she can’t get a few kills because the Ban hammer is slightly unfair to COMPLETELY new players so i may be able to side with you on this one. I am also searching bungie policy’s right now.

Bungie are the ones who originally set it up to work like that, 343 simply took it aboard it and didn’t change anything because people kept quiet about their bans.

Because no one knew why or to question it, just chill out and live with it.
Chill out? First, it’s not fair and plain wrong. Second, they KNOW its mucked up. Why should we have to live with their inability to fix it? Im not the only one. Found this over at 343.org, the stories sound familiar?

“I have been an active gamer for multiple years and pride myself in sportmanship and honesty in playing. Recently, my children became old enough to join the Halo family and I purchased a XBOX Live family account adding my two children and my wife to my account. To my disappointment, the ability to play Halo online with my family was quickly tarnished by a credit ban placed on all 4 of our accounts and my console. Apparently, my children and wife who are newer at the game and are still challenged at gaining kills appear as AFK according to the automated ban process used in the games. We even set the “skill” option to find players of comparable skiill to be turned on. My children were disheartened and my wife was frustrated. Even worse is that I received zero warning by XBOX, Bungie, Online or 343. I had no idea why it happened, and took hours of research to begin unravelling this issue. Please consider other variables to more accurately determine fraud on the system. My wife and children actively, move, shoot, change weapons, reload, throw grenades and other various actions that would certainly dictate them not as AFK. Please change this automated net, or we risk losing the future of young gamers if the difference between a novice player and one committing fraud is non distinguishable.”

Gamer Tag: Lexster905 - Ban = Temporarily Banned from earning Credits. This ban began on the evening of 19Jan2012, EST.
This is a new game for my 9 year old. She has been playing for ~ three weeks and is learning the game. She plays with her Aunt and a select group of experienced players who are online friends of my sister (her Aunt) for safety precautions. They play nightfall daily to help her learn the parameters of the game and advance her skills. Her Aunt says they “SPAWN” on her.
My daughter was very excited to learn the game and is now very dissapointed that she cannot earn credits along with everyone else. This temporary Ban has been going on for six days now. We have no idea why she was banned from earning credits or how long this ban will take.
I would hope that this will be resolved ASAP with an explanation of what the infingement was, if any, so that she can avoid it in the future.
As a consumer, I am highly unsatisfied with this type of unprofessional communication. I shouldn’t have to guess why a game that I paid $50 dollars for is now limited for what I can see, is no violation at all. It would be a good business move to include the reason and the extent of “penalties” assessed. I purchased the Xbox and Xbox LIVE and Halo purely for the purpose of my child being able to connect wtih the group online which she has been playing with. Currently, I feel as if it was a waste of $600. I am hoping you can resolve my frustration and buyers remorse and turn it into a positive experience for all of us.

Ask I have said, live with it, 343 don’t pay the slightest attention to this topic and probably never will, the problem for innocent people getting banned isnt fixable, it tricks people based on kills and deaths in games, if you have more than a few games with no kills and a lot of deaths, you are banned for AFK Boosting.
They will not remove the whole AFK ban system for some players getting banned falsely, you do NOT get blocked from playing online when you are cR banned, you can still play online, you just can’t rank up.
If they knew it was ‘messed up’, they haven’t made a statement on it like they did when the ban hammer went dodgy over the weekend and banned a lotmf people innocently, the bans were removed.
But it’s as simple as this, there is no way to differ a bad player from an AFK booster.
It starts at cr banning and ends where, matchmaking? Then I will be able to voice my displeasure? I know it isnt your fault and I’m coming off as some whiney newb but just they can attempt to “try” to get a better grip on it.

I was quitting a lot over the past few days as I refuse to play pinnacle because I simply don’t like it. It is fair enough I will not complain that I got the message to say that if I continue I shall be banned, I simply want to know how long it takes for the message to disappear just a reference point rather than any other reason.
I will say though that, although I do understand why the system is in place and it does make sense, I do feel a bit aggrieved that I am being punished because I opted out of something I don’t want to do. On balance I do see the huge benefits of the system and glad it is there, but as people might expect being on the receiving end has annoyed me slightly.
