AFKing is a term used widely across the internet, it actually means Away from Keyboard, however, in Reach, people say AFKing is were a user will simply get into a game, not play and then gets free cR as a result of it, which is against the rules.
If you are not going to be able to play a game fully and need to go, it is smarter to quit than idle, in case you take longer than expected and you are put into another match and get zero kills while not moving.

Regardless it wasn’t the case. We just aren’t very good at Halo, so getting zero kills is common. Will we be continually getting banned?

Sadly yes, the system itself is flawed and was rushed when originally pushed out a long time ago.
343 could adjust it but I don’t see what they could change, they could possibly take medals into account and if the user has any sort of medal but zero kills, it would bypass the ban.
My advice is to stick to Custom Games or Firefight until you can at least get a couple of kills every game or two.
Why was i banned in Firefight?
I noticed i had a warning because of quitting the day before and since then i haven’t quit once or left a game.
I was playing fire fight with a friend and he was kicked/lagged out, so i decided to keep playing just in case i got banned for leaving, although even though i continued playing apparently i got banned anyway.
The only reason i have for leaving the game yesterday was because of mad lag.
I have 30mb download and 9mb upload, my nat is moderate (i always get an error), could this be the problem?

ok Thanks for the heads up. I dont think a lack of practice will be an issue. Also, the servers are down now

When it actually says it’s selecting a new host, that is YOU lagging out of the game, as you said, you had mad lag last night, resulting in this.
I assume you are just banned from Matchmaking for 10 minutes, I advise you don’t play until your connection is fixed.

I just have a feeling that my NAT might be the problem but no idea how to fix this yet =p.
The game was playing fine till recently when 343 did maintenance and now its gone a bit funky, a few other friends who live not so long away are also having problems =/.
Hope it gets better, and i think the servers are down again haha (unless i got a permanent ban =|)

I’d look up a guide on YouTube if I were you on how to open your NAT type, as for the servers right now, they are down, 343 are looking into the problem now.

Can you not start Reach and then view your NAT rating to see if its the issue to begin with?

- You were banned for lagging out of games, which is fair to me, regardless of how you exit a game, you ruin the game for others.

3 times it has happened today and every time i boot the game up it gives me a warning i have never quit a game today yet what keeps happening is the game lag’s up really bad black screen then just chucks me out as if i have quit ! not happy at all
You are lagging out of games, I advise you stop playing until you can figure out what is going on with your connection.
its not my connection i have 10meg broadband no other game lag only halo and its not just me its a bunch of my friends having the same issue
Well, fixed my NAT (it was at moderate before).
Internet is working fine as usual but still major problems in Reach, had to quit another game because i was stuck at the starting game screen.
Apparently a lot of my friends are having the exact same problems, they have been banned for games lagging and kicking them out etc.
I’m on BT, have no problems in other games, Wii, PC or 3DS (and PS3).
Most of my other friends are with Sky Broadband and have the same issues.
I’m guessing Reach has some major issues at the moment or something?
Any other game plays perfectly =/.
Anyone from the UK here having problems, just wondering if its certain areas?

There is no other explanation, Reach is run on a Peer to Peer networking system, if you are lagging out, its you, or the host.
what so i have to suffer because the host of the game has a rubbish connection ?
