Why Did I Get Banned - The Official Thread

> Yea, I didn’t actually know that Bungie would do this, because I was just creating a website for a gaming community, and then I came back to these messages. To be honest, it kind of ruined my day because I have school off today and I was going to earn credits to get a new helmet, haha.

Bungie don’t run Halo anymore, 343 Industries do and have done since August 2nd, they control Halo: Reach.

Oh ok, well, I didn’t think anything would happen like this, lol.

Been a week and I’m still banned, is there any way you can find out how much longer it is?

I have been cR banned for two weeks before, it is likely it’s a two week cR ban.

please prove to me that it is not possible to have aim bot in reach, even if they do caught what stops them them from making another profile and do it all over again? i play online pretty much everyday and i see people using aimbot all the time, even if they are lagging to me its still considered cheating… if everyone has green bars and then all of a sudden someone starts lagging all over the place and they become pretty much impossible to kill, that is considered cheating.

Lag =/= cheating. Crappy connections happen.

Aimbots haven’t been possible since 2010.

I recently bought my wife an xbox live account and was trying to teach her to play reach, by making custom games, then tried introducing her to some matchmaking games. For some reason next time i turned on my xbox and halo reach, it said my console and account were temporarily banned from earn credits i have no idea why. Was it because she sucked? lol  PLEASE HELP

I’m not all that good at online multi-player. You can tell that from looking at my service record (GT Varafein). I’ve only been playing HALO on Live for around three months (lost 900,000 credits when I went Live and yes, that did sting a little) and my wife (GT Kranky Tank) only started playing HALO for the first time ever, then. (If you look at her service record, while it does show her character is over a year old, her play time is just 11 and a half hours. And a lot of that time is me from when I created her character to get some credits for her to buy armor and make her look unique.) I’ve been playing HALO since HCE first released, and when I get on Live, I’m lucky to get more kills than deaths. Some of ya’ll are frickin supernatural at how good you are. Half the time I never even see it comin. Now my wife, she gets on and just gets annihilated. I work with her offline to try and help her skills, but she’s a long way off of the level of skill the vast majority have. Heck, I’M a long way off from most of you. When we play online, I try to make sure she kills me at least a couple times, as do my friends and family we play with, to make sure she doesn’t goose-egg, but this last Saturday (after playing online with our friends and family Friday night), we got a 2nd temporary credit ban that is still in effect. How long is this ban gonna last and how do I find out exactly what it was that brought down the hammer? All it says is that the console and our accounts are on a temporary credit ban.

And before anyone rails that she (or I for that matter) shouldn’t play until we’re better, we never play BTB or other team games with anyone but our friends/family so as not to hurt anyone else’s records. She only started playing when our family decided to schedule one night a week for everyone to get together. Our family is spread across the U.S., so everyone doing anything together is a big deal and not to be missed.

i posted a reply to my ban 3 days ago in post#1530, but i haven’t heard anything back yet. i have spent a lot of money on Halo Games and for my X-Box Live Account to be placed on a ban this long for something this trivial. Banhammer is a computer program that doesn’t talk, feel or provide adequate justice to alot of Halo Players that have been placed on these bans like myself.

When i began playing Halo Reach in December 2010 i encountered many cheaters boosting and noticed a little while later people already at the Inheritor Rank, which was at that time impossible unless someone used a AMBOT MOD on their profile. As a rank of Forerunner every game (99.9%) i’ve played, i have played throughout the entire match, except when caught up on some daily phone calls or temporary distractions like everyone else encounters. This post isn’t so much about myself, but to help others such as myself to get their accounts back up and running to earn credits so much deserved.

I’m a 51 year old retired disabled veteran and i love the community at Halo, because it makes me feel like part of a life and part of my Military Unit once again. Those Halo Players out there that have Boosted/Cheated by modifying their profiles know who they are and i know who the AMBOT Cheaters are by their game play. It was totally impossible for anyone to acquire as much credits with a 120,000 daily credit limit, for all of these Inheritors to get promoted to the rank as fast as they have and especially to have their Commendations and Armory Completion status at 100%. This isn’t to say, because i was caught cheating by boosting or whatever by Banhammer that it’s alright in my case or anyone elses, but look at my personal ban.

Again playing Firefight Doubles using a guest is not cheating or boosting in my opinion based on what our guest do or not do. We are a team fighting to save all humanity from the Covenant remember? In Firefight Doubles Matchmaking, i can’t tell everyone here how many times the server generated a partner that shot my Ghost or Wraith out from underneath me or they ran arounds with a Rocket Launcher/Fuel Rod Cannon to the Covenant Spawn Points to steal every kill possible from me.

In this scenerio: When these so called partners kill themselves with grenades while having the rocket launcher in arcade Firefight Matchmaking so as to spawn back with the Jetpack/Fuel Rod Cannon and Rocket Launcher to steal every kill, wouldn’t that be considered boosting? This isn’t to include those that betray on purpose. The only thing we can do against these partners is to file a bad rep against them, whatever justice that provides. In Matchmaking BTB i’ve been palced on probation for accidentally betraying other teammates that run into my Wraith Shots, but i didn’t quit in those cases i was put on a temporary ban from matchmaking! How many times have we encountered the cheaters/boosters that betray us for our weapons/vehicles and we didn’t have the opportunity to boot them? i have quit only a handful of matches in the past, because of the opposite team using Mods, IE: AMBOT/MODS and Automatic Headshot MODS, but who are the ones BOOSTING/Cheating then being put on probation?

i have a few friends that play alot of Firefight Matchmaking to play doubles with, but none that put in as much time as i do. Is it considered boosting/cheating based on what other players guests do or not do? Again why should anyone be placed on a ban, due to what their guest do or not do? i remember playing Matchmaking in the beginning while teamates were staying in the same place while jumping up and down throughout their entire matches, was banhammer running then?

i hope the Moderators respond to this reply. i have played Halo Reach for thousands of hours and to be put on the sidelines this long for this case is ridiculous. i can guarantee that if anyone reviews my Halo Reach stats, you can see i have earned about 99.9% of every credit on my account…The .1% i can rest assure you wasn’t due to AMBOT, Cheating or for MODS!

Thanks in advance for your replies,

i feel your pain man, i’ve been playing halo since hce myself and i can say that i have never seen so much cheating going on in my life these past couple of years, especially in halo 3. everything pretty much transfered over to reach. me myself i’m pretty much tired of all the bs that is going on these games, i mainly play halo reach to play with my friends and my brother. i don’t mind all the afking that is going on but when it comes to the aimbot and the crap that goes on then i get pretty pissed off about it. hopefully they find and catch these people and keep them offline for good.

… so you keep saying but yet there they are the aim bots are still there. i said prove to me that aim bot is not possible, i didn’t say write to me aim bot has not been possible since 2010. you see it all the time on halo reach, you see it all the time on cod. and according to your stats on bungie.net i can’t say that you know what i mean when i say this, it doesn’t even look like you even play halo reach online enough to see all the things that go on online.

JUST SO WE ARE ALL AWARE ! YOU CAN GET BANNED FOR THE FOLLOWING:
{idling, afking, boosting, being a -Yoink- and not playing the game as intended.]
Its called a “Banhammer” for a reason, there is no “reason” you can get banned for “no reason” these people get paid to do their jobs, all of us are just revenue that they keep in controll. its easier to catch someone in a party of 4 idling and doing nothing just so you can have 1 player earning all the credit, than to catch the guy with the aimbot (it has to be reported by an actual player before it is investigated.}

There are modders in this game, we see it every day, we cant do anything about it without becoming modders ourselves…with this said, if you catch someone modding…report them, thats why the feature is avaliable…

however, if you intentionally are boosting, (let me remind you that just cause you have a high amount of credits, doesnt really impact anyone else who plays…so it doesnt matter to anyone, but you.//} then you post a forum about whining about being banned for something you “didnt do” well sir, congrats …here’s ur sign and you are a -Yoink-.

TO: LEAVEALEGEND,

When you post why don’t you address the person you’re speaking to or was this another generic post from someone that doesn’t have the authority to remove a suspension or help us by addressing some of our concerns. i would think this forum would help improve Halo Reach in the future and to help out the Halo 4 programmers to make these game more enjoyable.

i had no idea what the heck AFKing was until i came to this forum, but when i did find out what the abbreviation meant from a friend, i posted it here for all to understand. So it appears you’ve been Yonked by a so called Yonker? Most of us don’t spend our time here to judge others, remember BANHAMMER is a computer program and we come here to address a real person such as an Administrator or Moderator.

So do you MOD to stay up with the Moders? By the way, most of the time i earn more credits playing Firefight Arcade with 4 random people or a random generated partner in Firefight Doubles than i do with my guests, BECAUSE I’M TRYING TO HELP THEM LEARN THE GAME FOR ENJOYMENT, NOT BECAUSE IT’S A JOB. Cheap shot, i’d suggest having a bit more respect in the future and let the Administrators do their job here that they are paid or volunteer to do…

You know, I was all set to give you a nice little pep talk response. But seriously, looking at your game history, you aren’t mad that you got banned, your mad that you got caught. And the way you play Halo I have my doubts that you are a 51 year old military veteran. Taking a guest into Firefight doubles and them getting 2 kills is impossible, unless you pick up the other controller and get 2 kills then set it down, I see SOOOOOO many of those. That would leave one to believe that you KNOW the rule, otherwise you would have kept leaving it idle. And by the looks of your history, you have been banned previously for the same thing, I’m not going to search back over a year, however in sept. of last year you had a guest getting 2-5 kills in plenty of games. At like 3 am, so dont try the whole “my grandson/wife/dog” If you allowed your grandson to stay up until 3 am with you, then you might need to have a sit down with a therapist. An administrator will NOT address your issue, or reverse the ban, you’ll end up with responses from forum members. You messed up and ended up banned. Instead of being a 51 year old Military MAN, you come on here like a child complaining about “modders” not being banned. Which I doubt you have ran into a modder, If you did report them, if you still see them playing, then guess what, they aren’t modding. Honestly looking at your games, your gameplay is very inconsistent, I could say that since one game you have a -08 k/d one game and then the next you have a +23 k/d means you might be modding. Some people just have bad games or good games.

And your a Forerunner, you say you LOVE Halo so much, yet you stop playing as soon as you get banned? My Dad got banned and he still played the game after that. Because he enjoys the game. You have enough credits to buy the Armory at this point, so you don’t need more. And were there credits in Halo1-3? No there wasn’t, so you can still play for FUN without earning credits, and enojoy the game you “love” so much.

She had a bunch of games with 0 kills. 2nd bans last anywhere from 48hrs to 2 weeks. And when playing with family especially, since its “just to have fun” use custom games, otherwise if she is that bad, and they destroy her and she has 0 kills your console will get banned.
And honestly if you want to get better, try playing some custom firefights that are really hard, or use 2x score attack instead of arcade modes. When you only have 10 lives you try a bit harder to stay alive, If your lives never run out, there is no point in trying.

Hello, when I started to play halo reach today I was immediately notified that both my console and account had been temporarily banned from earning credits. I don’t remember to have violated any online terms of agreement, code of conduct, etc. I’d like to know why this has happened and how I can prevent it from happening again.

[REDACTED]

Hello, today I was notified that my console and account have been temporarily banned from earning credits. I’ve reviewed the code of conduct and don’t understand why. Recently my father started playing online with me as a guest and there were many games where he earned 0 kills. Could this be why and if so how do we prevent it from happening again? He’s BRAND NEW to video games, so I don’t expect him to have hardly any kills.

Problem solved thanks
