If you left the game to go do chores and left yourself signed in, that IS AFK’ing.

I can’t play Halo Reach, Halo 3 or Halo anniversary. How do I tell if I was banned? It just says servers are unavailable for 3 or 4 days now. These are the only games I can’t play, everything else works fine. I can’t imagine I would be banned as I just play it like normal.
Any ideas? Am I banned?
I just found out from a friend that AFKing originated from the computer in internet messaging (IMing) meaning: Away From Keyboard. In Halo it should be AFCing meaning: Away From Controller ing. Enough Wrathizzums for the day.

You are not banned, you tend to be notified if you are, the problem you are having is a known one and as far as I knew, was fixed.
Post here about it: Halo: Reach server is unavailable
i play halo alot and i see people cheating everyday,
- people making impossible shots every single day
- people using mods
- people using modded controllers
there is a site that is selling modded controllers and obviously making a profit out of it. i’m hoping in the future that i can once again play online and once again enjoy playing video games with my friends and not have to worry about modders, cheaters or any other form of bs. but unfortunately for us all that will only happen in a perfect world. another thing that is really making me mad is even if you ban the people that are cheating, they always have the option of getting another profile and using that do what they did on their profile they got banned from. if there is in any way for you guys keep these people banned forever ( or at least keep them from creating more than 1 gamer-tag every 6 months) that would be great.

- Lag
- Lag
- Modded Controller are pointless in Reach.
The site that is selling them will be making profit from other games like Call of Duty, also 343 don’t control or can do Xbox LIVE bans, they can only ban people from Halo: Reach and console ban them from Halo: Reach online play, meaning any profile on that console cant play Halo Reach on Xbox LIVE.

Thank you very much. Appreciate the direction.
> 1. Lag
Actually, auto aim is pretty common in Reach. I’ve personally been in two games where it has happened and my friend has been in more than two.

Aim botting on Reach hasn’t been possible since 2010, it was patched when Microsoft released the Dash Update for Fall 2010.
What you are experiencing is lag, unless you can prove to me otherwise with film proof.
This is totally my own fault and I understand why I got banned. I failed to read the rules on gameplay in multiplayer matchmaking, prior to starting to play. In my defense I have only had the console and Halo CE for about a month and was totally unaware that any kind of banning system was in place. I guess I got the whole concept completely wrong…I just wanted to play with other people and kill flood…how was I to know there were rules!
I understand that because I had no kills and lots of deaths it looked like I was illegally gaining credits. I assure you It wasn’t my intention and i just thought that I was a bit rubbish (which I was lol). It’s not like I stood still the whole tine, i got in there and ran about trying to kill the enemy, but what surprised me was how hard it was to kill others! My assualt rifle was no match for others with superior weapons (grenade launchers etc) but that’s all I had! How can I improve my kill rate, or at least start off with a better weapon?
The other thing that does annoy me about the whole thing is that basically I’ve been punished for being rubbish at the game. That’s not very socialable is it! How is this encouraging people to interact with others online. Excluding people purely on their non-ability to play well is just wrong in any society - real world or virtual.
Why does my poor performance impede on others? Surely a fairer system would be if I didn’t get any kills then I don’t get any credit. Surely credit should be allocated on a percentage basis ie the team member with the most kills gets the most credit.
Anyway, I’ll leave it there and retreat to lick my wounds lol…anyone know how long a first time offense ban lasts for? Thanks for listening

The system doesn’t take into account that there are actually bad players out there on Reach who are new or unfamiliar, I can confirm you were falsely banned looking at your game history and stats (not stat flaming, its just the truth).
A first time ban usually lasts for abut 24-48 hours, my advice though, during this time playing some Firefight on Heroic and try to use other weapons like the DMR and get to grips with that, then when you get online, if you are still playing as bad as what you were, just rally back to Firefight and keep practising, also, try and get a group of friends together on Halo: Reach and play some Custom Games with them, it will help you greatly improve.
PS: It is unlikely your ban will get removed, 343 Industries hardly monitor this topic.
Could you please explain to me why i have a temporary ban from earning credits? I would also like to know what i did wrong so I dont do it again.
> Could you please explain to me why i have a temporary ban from earning credits?
It’s hard to say this but you were banned for being bad at the game.
The way the banhammer works is that if you have many games were you don’t get any kills and loads of deaths, it will ban you for ‘AFK Boosting’, which is where a player doesn’t play and gets free cR out of it.
Sadly it doesn’t take into account that some people may just be new to the game and not be playing well.
Your ban will 24-48 hours long and then you will be able to earn cR, if you want to avoid this mistake in the future, I advise you play Firefight on Heroic to get to grips with Halo: Reach, you will notice an improvement when you play online.
PS: It is unlikely your ban will be lifted, 343 Industries rarely monitor this topic and when they do, they will just claim you have AFK boosted.
First you said the ban will be 24-48 hours long. Then you wrote…P.S. the ban will most likely not be lifted. That confuses me.
> First you said the ban will be 24-48 hours long. Then you wrote…P.S. the ban will most likely not be lifted. That confuses me.
As in it won’t be lifted manually and it wiped because it was a false ban, the ban WILL expire after 24-48 hours automatically but any sort of justice from 343 is not likely.
