Do any of you guys know if they’re still resetting ranks for severe offenders?
I know a while ago, back when Bungie was in charge, they reset the ranks of some of the most severe offenders and placed a long credit freeze on their account. Does anyone know if 343i continued this practice?

You can usually tell by looking up recent games at bungie.net. If you see alot of games with 0 kills, especially on guest accounts it is pretty easy to tell what the ban is for. As far as telling the length most of the info is gathered from experience of others or whatever. As far as I am aware there is no “official” word stating the length of bans. It is known the first ban is 24 hrs. After that I have seen it vary from 48hrs to a week to 2 weeks. But thats also subject to whether the person that was banned was being truthful in that they have never been banned before, or it was their second ban and so on.
For the future though, if your are going to allow your kids to play, especially at such a young age (more that their understanding of how the controller works isn’t 100%). I would suggest a Firefight game from the main reach menu, It won’t get you any credits, but it won’t get you banned either.
is not just my ban lasted for three days …
and I have not done anything that goes against the rules of the game
I broke I want them to bungie … . _.
> well im sorry but i believe it to be unjust for the simple fact that my friends and i cant play against each other and goof around without being banned but yet its ok for -Yoink!- people to play grifball and spawn trap the enemy team repeatedly and nothing happens to them. if people are gonna get banned for Yoink! they should at least be given a warning first and if your gonna ban some people for stupid Yoink! than everyone should get banned for -Yoink!- Yoink! that they do.
Look man, normally I try and side with the people that get banned, give them the benefit of the doubt. However you are comparing apples to watermelons. Spawn killing in Grifball is not against the rules. It’s a legal, and actually praised tactic. People do take it to the extreme and don’t put the ball in the goal, but it’s a legit tactic. If you don’t like getting spawn killed in Grifball, don’t play Grifball. What you were doing is against the rules, and as far as warnings, you said you have been banned for this before. That 24hr ban was your warning. You knew the consequences and did it anyway. In no way do you have a case, especially when you and all of your friends could have done custom games.

Being AFK and getting 0 kills in any matchmaking playlist is against the rules. And to be quite honest the fact that you go into a firefight game and hide then come out and get 5 kills is what turns people off of the game. You managed to get 0 kills in multiple games, it’s your own fault. Bungie can’t help you, and I would be willing to put money on the fact that if a 343 employee looked at your firefight history they would make the ban longer. How many credits did you recieve for going into firefight and letting your controller sit for 15 mins? You’ll get away with the 1 kills games. But don’t complain about a ban when you clearly farm credits in firefight.
as I had already written I had to go to eat and then I had stomach problems what can I do? if your going to see is the first time that such a thing happening are not that kind of person
It’s just sad that the banhammer can’t tell the difference between a new player who is bad and a cheater. When my fiancee started playing reach with me, she was getting at most 2 kills. Most of the time was zero or 1 kill. Then, the console got banned. This was the first time ever, and it was a 48hr ban. People saying 24hr is bs. This was about a month and a half ago.
Since then, my fiancee has been getting better at Halo and we haven’t been banned. Now she is getting around 3-7 kills a game.
Basically, the banhammer needs to be fixed so that it doesn’t get truly innocent players.
> as I had already written I had to go to eat and then I had stomach problems what can I do?
You turn off the console, take some medication and lie down. You don’t AFK.
I’m sorry for saying it but at this point it’s pretty cut and dry :I
> as I had already written I had to go to eat and then I had stomach problems what can I do? if your going to see is the first time that such a thing happening are not that kind of person
You can back out to the main lobby, or stop playing until your better. And you don’t have a history of doing that until around Jan 5th
Jan 5 8 kills in 20 mins with the entire game to yourself?
Jan 6 2nd game 18 kills in 20 mins?
Jan 6th, 5 th game 1 kills, 0 deaths. you got a kill and then hid. Farming.
Then at the end there is a 6 game stretch that you had 3 kills combined 4 games had 0 kills. It was a 2 hr span, if you were in that much trouble that you were in the bathroom for 2 hrs you should have just turned off the xbox.
and then I must be banned for a week for this -Yoink-?
343 industries but what the hell cares if I take the cr?
I was banned today because I left too many games. But the match that banned me was when I lagged out, you can ask Predatorrequiem, that’s who I played with. Now I won’t get the weekly!

I don’t know if your being serious. Yours sounds like a quit ban. It last 10 mins. And there are 28 challenges a week. You have plenty of time to get the weekly .
anyone knows how long my ban?
> anyone knows how long my ban?
1st time ban is 24H, 2nd time is 2 weeks and 3rd time is 1 month.
> i was banned permanately from halo reach and im trying to figure out why…can some one please tell me why i have not done anything to recieve this ban!?
Was this ever taken care of? I talked to him last night, and he siad he still doesnt know. Ive personally pm’ed both guys, and haven’t received message back yet.

He hasent played matchmaking since December 15 and i couldent find anything wrong on his history. His GT is not even marked as a cheater or for modding on Xbox.com. Coulde it be the banhammer desided to ban him becaus of all his penalties he has gotten from the betrayels on Grifball?
I know he dident betray on purpose and he mostly plays with his buddys, but seeing as all his playtime is in Grifball (30days) and accidents do happen in that playlist. One banhammer rule that can get you banned is any typ of unsociable and unsportsmanlike behavior.
So the banhammer finaly desided that all the penalties he has resived on his profile data is Ban worthy?
I randomly checked 5 of his 25 latest Grifball games and he had 1-2 penalties on each of them. Now this was just 5 random games i selected and they had penalties on them. He has 5200 games of Grifball where i bet he has at least 1 penaltie on most of them.

The banhammer is completely broken. I’ve seen the same people AFKing firefight for months and nothing happens to them. There’s no way to report people for a real person to check them out. They’re permanently banning people without detailed warning of any kind. That’s just marvelous. If you bought this game, you should at minimum be entitled to have someone at 343 tell you WHY you were banned.
Also, betrayals should have nothing to do with it. If anything, it’s their own fault for having betrayals in playlists that don’t need it. There’s no reason for friendly fire to be on at all in these gametypes where you can’t boot.

I can’t see the Hammer coming down over betrayals however he would have A LOT considering the ammount of games played. Especially since there is 35 games of Grifball played in a 24 hr span. Thats over 1 betrayal and hr if he only got one a game. But again if you can’t be booted for it, then it shouldn’t count. And now looking there are several games in the first ten that have 0 penalties.
One thing to keep in mind, and I’m sure he’s a friend, or a good friend or whatever. 343 people will never email or PM you back over someone elses account. And people have a tendency to not be 100% forth coming. It does look like a BS ban, from the outside, but it was a permanant matchmaking ban, which leads me to believe there is more to it than simple AFK or whatever. And if I got banned from a game for something I didn’t do, I would never touch the game again, but he still goes on and plays customs. I give him credit for that, but he seems rather accepting of being “unjustly” banned.
P.S, Please don’t take anything I said here harshly, I simply wanted to offer a objective view from the outside, These are just my thoughts, had I known the guy personally and know his character I may have a completely different view.
I think banning people for killing AFK folk, is a stupid rule, its they’re fault they never left the game, i mean when you need a toilet you don’t just stay were you are right? you leave and use a toilet, basically if somebody is AFK for 2mins they should be booted from the game, that should be the rule. Solves both problems.
