> Can you please tell me why my son was banned from earning credits? His gamer name is Mattx90. He said the only thing he could think of was his sister had called him cause she needed help with something and he thought he logged out, but it hadn’t. But it would have only left him idle for one game.
>
> Thank you… it is much appreciated.
Your son has too many games with 0 kills in Firefight Matchmaking. Once the game is over after a countdown it automatically goes into another game. So it’s possible to go into more than one game and not know it. However, he has games that he gets kills and then the very next game 0 kills, then the next kills again. Going into a game and not killing, or being away from thecontroller/keyboard (AFC/K) will get him banned. Let him know not to do it, the next ban is usually signifigantly longer.
> I have been banned for three days now. We did nothing wrong. My son turned off the tv after playing and not the Xbox. We do not have a history of this. Please review my account and gamer history and fix this please.
It seems Minidog7777 is what got your console banned, he had 4 straight games with 0 kills. The program that does the banning only looks at kills and consecutive games. The only odd thing is it should only be 24 hrs, unless youve been banned before. If you truly did not get banned before PM totalsellout or BSAngel, they might be able to give you more info or get it lifted for being a first offense. Give them time to respond as I’m sure they are swamped with PMs and other such things.
> Thank you for letting me know. Can you possibly tell me when his ban is up?
The first offense is usually 24 hrs. After that it varies, I’ve heard anywhere from 48 hrs. to 2 weeks for a second offense. That all might depend on how long it was in between bans.
ive read on here multiple times that this issue has happened before. i have never cheated or altered my network. heck the only times ive ever betrayed was the accidental guy running in front of me. last night two of my friends my spouse and i were playing griffball and that message ( your xbox has been temporarily banned from earning credits popped up. it is still there today.
the team we were playing against werent playing the game correct and were spawn killing and holding the ball instead of playing. racking up kills for god only knows what. but my team couldnt play and then the notice popped up. i wrote reviews but didnt actually do anything to the best of my knowledge. if i did something to deserve the ban please help me understand if not how do i lift it so my wife and i can play our game and get the credits we earned?
i have even gone threw all my stats and my wifes stats ( loganzmommy2012) there is no reason posted that i can see. even threw bungie.net that proves that i did anything wrong. and i even pulled up the vanilla griffball ( second of the two in a row) that shows that every player on there team has a +60 kill spread over our team and we still made point. what ever happened in the middle of that game froze our account and i need to know why and what to do to fix the issue. i understand the point of this site is to catch the mistakes and its hard to play a game when you cant make progression.
someone please give me a hand as to what happened to my system or express to me what i missed?
What is this thread talking about? All of the bans have been proven to be counterproductive and no one monitors them, which means innocent bans will not be reversed.
The mute ban was a joke that was proven to be easily abused in both the beta and the full game, and the beta feedback forum showed overwhelming consensus to remove the mute ban. But Bungie left it in anyways! LOL!!
The AFK ban was unnecessary, Bungie caused the AFKing in the first place with their terrible scoring system and it works on a flawed system that can easily ban members that don’t play well for a few games.
The quit ban is easily avoided and the flawed betrayal system promotes bad behavior to abuse the ban and target innocent players. Bungie also said they’d add a “sudden death” feature that would end games that are 4v1, 6v1, 8v2 etc early, but guess what? THEY NEVER DID! HAHA! Now we’re forced to stay in those lousy games where no one has fun. Besides, there’s no reason to punish quitters in the first place. The correct way to have dealt with quitters is by allowing them to play exactly the game they want. This isn’t 1999, we could easily play the games we want to play which would seriously reduce quitting. And the join in progress system would also help provided games that are almost over/too unfair were locked.
All these bans do is drive population away which increases search times and skews truskill to the awful point where it’s at now.
> It’s more because you have too many games in a row that have 0 kills and 0 assists.
Actually, it only goes by kills. You can get plenty of assists and medals and move the entire game and still get the ban. (Even though Bungie said they could track all movement, bullets fired etc.)
> Bungie no longer runs the franchise so they won’t help you anyhow.
They never helped even when they did run it, in fact, their moderators admitted that it was highly unlikely an unjust ban would be corrected.
> Just keep in mind even though yours may not be totally legit, for every one person that gets banned unjustly there are 10 that get banned and deserve it.
It’s impossible for you to know this, and even if this were true a counterproductive ban is a poor solution considering they caused the AFKers with their poorly implemented scoring system. Bungie should fix their own mistakes before implementing a terrible ban they had no interest in moderating that harms everyone.
My wife, whose GT is L0VEBIRDS12, was banned at the very beginning of a SWAT game and we have no idea why. We’re not really looking to get it lifted but we’d like to know what things not to do in order to avoid being banned in the future. Also it would be helpful to know how long the ban will be in place.
Reading here I assume my poor performance has banned our entire console. No question I have plenty of games with 0 kills as my kids run circles around me. The kids are not happy right now and if we can avoid the second level punishment in the future, I’ll keep an eye on my stats. It would be helpful to know how many consecutive 0 kill games I can play, without getting the console banned again. Can someone please provde the exact parameter used here?

There doesn’t seem to be an exact number, but I know for a fact it can be as little as 8 games in general.
It’s too bad Bungie couldn’t fix their own pathetic scoring system rather than this awful ban which could have been tons better by the way they bragged about their systems.

There were a few games that a guest controller had 0 kills. this is more than likely what caused the ban, the first one lasts 24 hrs. Really just make sure there aren’t too many consecutive games with a guest getting 0 kills. It does suck when “bad” players get baneed, however it’s a computer program that looks at stats. Not game footage.

It may not have been you either if there is more than one account on your xbox. If you list the other GT I can take a look and see if there is some sort of pattern. I also wish 343 would have definite bannable rules that come up in game, like the downloadable content message that people could read ahead of time. But I can tell you just from a common sense thing they will never tell you the programs parameters and what it uses, otherwise people would automatically try to circumvent those rules. The system looks for patterns that start off with consecutive games with no kills, and then it adds up from there, as it is a computer program it only uses stats.

Dude seriously, you just seem like some kid that got banned for doing something you knew was wrong but didit anyhow. And after you got banned you blame it on a banning system credit system or whatever. It’s your own fault, just like in real life if someone leaves their car doors unlocked and you steal their stuff it isn’t their fault that your a thief. Honestly you should already know complaining about Bungie isn’t going to help since they have nothing to do with the games anymore. And it’s a COMPUTER PROGRAM that bans people, not an actual person, it’s goes off of given stats that start with patterns, like having consecutive games with no kills, and then it moves from there. Nobody has enough money it would take to pay people to monitor all games played and check all players and make sure they aren’t being bad. I’ve been the victim of a quit ban myself, and mine was because my disc was scratched and it wouldn’t load the maps, so it kept dropping me. After I fixed the problem I was on a quit probation, and entered one of those firefight games that drops both people, it gives me a ten minute ban. What did I do? I waited 10 minutes and moved on. The system doesn’t know my game is broke, and it doesn’t care.
Honestly this thread isn’t to discuss why you don’t like bans, it isto help people understand why or how they got banned, all your doing is complaining and making it harder for people to get those answers, however vague they might be.
i just wanna know why me and my friends got banned from earing credits. we were in our own lobby so as not to interfere with anyone else’s game. we were only goofing around, not boosting, not credit farming cuz we have no need to do these things. i enjoy playing halo and this is really annoying toput it nicely.

You both had too many games with a guest controller with 0 kills. If your just looking to mess around you can do custom games, especially if you don’t care about credits. Custom games aren’t monitored by the BanHammer. The reason they credit ban you is because regular gametypes give more credits, and to a program it looks like your trying to farm credits or boost your medal and commedations by bringing in guest and doing assassinations, or shotguns or getting sprees or whatever, even if that isn’t the case. If it is the first time for both of you, it should be lifted in 24hrs.
I was banned … I do not understand why I have asked around and they told me to … but I was eating and I had stomach problems afk … >.> And I went to the bathroom very often …
Anyway, I just want to know how they are banned, thanks.

You got banned for being AFK in FireFight, although it may have been stomach problems, if you can’t finish a game or you get done with a game back out to the lobby. Looking at your history though it seems you have a neat way of getting between 1-15 kills in firefight, just enough to not get banned, but still be in the game and collect the credits for it.
I keep getting quit banned for 10 minutes even though I’ve never quit a single game. I live in an area where the connection randomly drops roughly once every half hour but is otherwise fine. I have an open NAT and have tried many guides to stop the disconnecting, none of them have worked. Switching ISPs isn’t an option because there is only 1 available to me. I’m also not going to move to another area in real life since moving over some game’s multiplayer is silly.
I’m honestly not expecting anyone to stop these bans (how many people have ever been helped in this thread?) but I figure it’s worth a try. It’s annoying enough dropping out of games that I’m winning, it’s just another kick in the teeth to have to wait 10 minutes until I can search again.
I would be playing Reach right now, but I got a quit ban. I know I’m probably just complaining, but the ban seemed odd.
2 days ago I quit several games and figured it would tell me I quit too many. Didn’t play yesterday, but it popped up and told me I had quit too many games today and not to quit anymore. That much I understand. What I don’t understand is why I was banned. I played 2 games of griffball and didn’t quit, then I played a game of firefight. The other 3 players all quit or lagged out. I stuck with it because I didn’t want to be banned for 10 minutes. I get done and felt it was an awesome match and that i should do another. I couldn’t do another. Why not? I’m banned? What? Well that sucks.
And there ends my story. Hey it’s been 10 minutes. Sorry for the rant
