Hi, my gamertag is: Edwood34. I recently got my Gold back so I’ve been actively playing Halo Reach multiplayer now. Today something odd happened. I wanted a break from playing, so I went out to get a bite to eat. When I came back, there was a message on my screen that said: “Your account has been temporarily banned from gaining credits.” How long is temporary? What exactly did I do? I tried calling XBL support but nobody over there knew what was wrong
Please help!
> hey why was i band
Looks like you provided your own answer…
> ive only accidentaly missed two games in a row.
Simply put, get out of matchmaking if you’re not playing and don’t know when you’ll be back. Better to miss 10 minutes for a quit ban than a console ban or to stop earning credits.
> 2 nights ago on Tues. I was having problems in matchmaking around 2 a.m. AZ time. I would find other players vote for a map then while it was loading the map it booted me from that group and automatically sent me to find new players. It did the same thing four or five times maybe. I finally decided to reboot my modem and try again. First try I loaded the map and was playing. Half way into the game, a warning popped up saying I have been quitting to many games and the next would result in a ban. A few games later, (without quitting or dropping out) I recieved a message in matchmaking lobby stating I had a ten minute ban. I said oh well, turned it off and went to bed. Tonight, Thurs. I turn it on and I get another message saying I have been quitting to many games next one will result in ban!!! I havent even played since tuesday night! Why am I all of a sudden getting ban warnings for no reason?
Getting banned for quitting too much doesn’t reset the number. It’s a running total and will keep increasing as well as make your ban last longer if you keep it up. It will take a couple of weeks of not quitting before that message will go away.
Basically, you screwed up and are -Yoink- listed for now.
how long am i banded for at least.
yeah i hope they just dont screw up the halo aniversary as well
same here. i get banned and don’t know for how long or anything…

Sounds like a good reason but I never quit any games

Quitting… lagging out… same difference. You are responsible for your connection, just like you’re responsible for your xbox, your account, and who you let play on either. It sucks that it happens, but your connection affects everyone in your game… and thus ruins their experience.
So many people contact Microsoft Xbox Live about this. Many of us always abide by Xbox Live terms. I don’t know why it happens to those of us who are sensible, using the game fairly, not deliberately trying to quit frequently nor quit at every opportunity. Probably a reason why Microsoft is shifting future Halo developments over to it’s subsidary, Industries 343. I mean the penalties are the harshest I’ve seen in any Xbox 360 game. And you follow Xbox Live’s terms. Unfair. It’s even on Yahoo! Answers. Maybe Microsoft will provide an update which may make penalties for fair gamers less harsher. I looked it up and 1st offence is like 24hrs. 2nd 3 days. 3rd 2 weeks. 4th 1 month. These are just approximate figures. What if we’re new to playing this game, and you brought the game new from a retailer which comes with a 90-day legal warranty?
I don’t think this is fair either. But complaining isn’t going to do anything. Calling Microsoft does nothing. They just read a script and hang up. I’ve decided about buying future products because having young family who enjoy the Halo series can’t play because if they do poorly EVERYONE who has an account on that console gets banned. It only takes ONE game. I don’t want to pay for 4 accounts and not be able to play.
Close to a year ago I was temp banned for my 13 year old nephew getting -3 kills. I have barely touched Match making since then. FF/MM is so much better for those who are newbish at this game because if you only get 10-20 kills, you arent going to get banned. I understand that Bungie/343 is trying to deter cheaters, but when all 4 players are PAYED players and no guests, stuff like this shouldn’t happen because everyone has paid money to play the game online and if i’m going to play with someone who does poorly who is on my console, that is my own business and priority. I’ve since sold my Xbox and Reach and left gaming except when I go to a friend’s and play Forge/FF with them. Not real sure I’m going to even play CEA because I don’t want to adapt, try to befriend a bunch of strangers just to play Halo.
Also, for Brown141781, I don’t see anything in his game history that would promote boosting… I actually play on the same console with them. Can someone locate the games they got banned for?
Edit: 19 Hours Later…
Just sayin… Can’t find anything in their game history and its been 3 days, shouldn’t the console ban be over? How come there is such little information about these things other than other player testimony, which severely varies…? This is something that needs to be fixed in future halo games since one wrong move, on purpose or not, can get you banned for an unknown amount of time.
Microsoft said contact 343…

I am not defending someone or attacking someone. But please note that not everything related to ban issues is detectable through the game history. For example, you cannot detect challenge resetting…
Wasn’t challenge resetting because if i’m not mistaken, thats a permanent ban
> Wasn’t challenge resetting because if i’m not mistaken, thats a permanent ban
I am not sure maybe you’re right! But i am not telling that it is challenge resetting…i just mentioned an example as to why you can’t 100% trust the game history!
well its a temp console ban from earning credits. He’s also still banned and its been over 3 days. I’ve had several people say that first offense is 24hrs, 2nd is 3 days, 4th time is a week and im not sure about after that.
I am currently “investigating” his game history and i’ll be posting back soon. I think though that the ban time depends on what kind of offence the player did, and then the times they did it.
Well, he definitely AFKed for short time because in the game viewer i can see that he has got spawn killed to many times, but he did not AFK a whole match and, concerning that it’s 3 days i would say that he is pretty clean to be still banned. If he is still banned he should contact an administrator through PM and explain the issue. They will help him definitely!
My first ban…WHAT??? ok here is the deal, since yesterday when ever i have been trying to play online (MM or FF) after the voting is done for whatever particular map was voted, it doesnt load and comes up saying “Load Failure”.
It did this many times last night before i decided to just give up (not during a game). Today i made a post about that in the general discussion forum, in hopes that someone else could tell me what was going on. I played many games to day and there wasn’t any problems. Then all of a sudden, another Load Failure on a TU game, everyone bailed out, i was left in the game by myself, no credits, dont care, but than it said i was banned for quiting too many times.
Sitting out for 10 mins doesnt bother me, but my concern is what is going on with your network. If this keeps happening, than i could get -Yoinked!- and banned for even longer due to your network load failure. Please respond. THank you.
If playing multiplayer on Halo Reach, this is a must: make sure your NAT settings are open and that your connection is secure. It also pays to make sure Xbox Live is running via xbox.com or test your xbox live connection. Temporarily banning someone if they did poorly is a bit gross. TDU2 and most other Xbox Live games aren’t this harsh to it’s players. This game is one of very few which severely punishes those who quit, have server/connection issues(minor or major), or perform poorly during multiplay. Sad. And isn’t xbox 360 all about having fun?

Yesi got the same issue yesterday. Not load failures but i was also thrown out of many games due to host changes. I partially agree with the ban, because either from connection or from quit, it’s the same outcome- your team with less players. But we have to suffer all these due to the inability of all Halo games to let the players join in the middle of a match!!! Why can’t it be like CoD, where everyone joins anytime and no problem?
