Why Did I Get Banned - The Official Thread

> I’m not banned, but just want to ask a question. Does playing modded gametypes in customs or having one in your fileshare risk getting you a ban?

No, there are far to many mods out their. Modded Custom games are no big deal. Modded Match making games are a diffrent story.

Idk if anybody is on this forum anymore, but I sure hope so.

Ok, I admit it, I credit boosted in grifball. I just want to know how long I should expect the ban to be I don’t care if you’re just giving me a rough estimate, but I just want to know if I should be expecting the ban to be lifted tomorrow, or should I be expecting a 2-4 week ban. Thanks to whoever responds to this

(And by the way I’ve learned from my mistakes and will never credit ban again)

For the above post, at the bottom I meant to say that I’ll never credit BOOST again

“link above is total sellouts armor. he has the inheritor helmet at field marshall”

There is a good reason for that. He is a 343 employee and like all other 343 employees they had Inheritor helmets and blue falming helmets long before we all did. BTW you didnt get him banned. He still seems to be playing on his gold account.

If it really is the first time you have credit boosted then it should only be a 24-48 hour ban. If it is your second time then it may be a one to two weeks. I comes down to how many games you boosted on before the banhammer detected you.

Thanks for the reply. I boosted for 3 or 4 games before the banhammer detected me, and it was my first time boosting. I’ve never gotten credit banned before.

Just as a reminder - You don’t get banned for other people quitting out of games.

oops. forgot to quote. delete this and read my actual post on the next page. Thanks.

> Just as a reminder - You don’t get banned for other people quitting out of games.

Not necessarily true. If too many people quit from the game (or dashboard in the pregame lobby), the game will begin to think that you/your teammates are using a 3rd party software to hit people offline (booting them from the game). This feature is only amplified in the Doubles playlist, where you only match teams of 2 and (because of the now depleted population,) it is very easy to match the same team repeated times, or people who will recognize you (very common for a person like Josh), or people will just straight up not want to play you because you look intimidating in the pregame. All of the instances above will cause people to dashboard before the game starts, or quit early. If you take a look at Je suis Barker, Romney 2013, or INCREDIBLE FEAT’s (both of which are my friends who have both been wrongfully for the same reason as Josh) game histories, you will see they bear common traits: Both players were playing the Doubles playlist, they were both on winning streaks, and both of them had a plethora of games where either the game just didn’t start due to players dashboarding/signing out before the game started, or people quit the game early. I know both of these players, they are both legit and have never cheated (or needed to cheat) to win a game. Coincidentally, the game Josh got banned (I was playing with him at that time), the players had quit early, and Josh had gotten the message during the blackscreen of the first person quitting. This banhammer is very absurd and very unfair to any person who excels at the Double Team playlist, and too many people have been wrongfully banned by an automated, flawed banning system. When these bans take place, they should be reviewed by a 343i employee with common knowledge of the game, and having a good understanding of the player’s background to suggest cheating (Halotracker.com stats seem to provide a good background). If the ban proves false, it should be dismissed and the recipient of the ban should have their accounts wiped of the ban within 48 hours. Of course if the ban appears to be a correct ban, leave it as is and let the recipient of the ban deal with the consequences.

tl;dr: lol this banhammer sux its bk get it changed plz give justt joshin (and others mentioned above) his(their) account(s) back plz this banhammer is worse than boltshots and unfair to dubz kidz l8rbye peacem8

Hi everyone!

I’m curious as to why i got credit banned for 2 weeks. I was doing the ONI swordbase thing on campaign to credit farm by getting 25,000 cr in like 5-6 minutes (i had a system going and only needed to revert to save within 5 seconds). I went clear to the cap of 200,000 each day for a couple of weeks. I didn’t think i was breaking any rules but just the other day. What did I do wrong??? what should i do for next time?? I really need your comments suggestions and advice.

PS. I should also note that i was creating custom challenges before the cap reset so that i can play immediately when the cap reset at midnight. Also my console time says midnight when really its 10:00 PM my time and on my laptop when i go to make challenges. Maybe these could be the issue???

please help!!

So basically I let my friend get on my account to license transfer a game (I owed him money, so it’s the best I could do at the time.) He messaged me on my second account saying he was going to play some halo reach while he waits. I didn’t find a problem with it until I logged back onto my account and it says I’m permanently banned from reach multiplayer (console/account) I wasn’t sure why I was banned until I saw my service tag, for some reason it had the bungie logo on it. I’m assuming that is the reason why I have been banned. So my question is, is there anyway this ban can be looked further into? And potentiality in the long run have the ban lifted or reversed? And before someone says “you shouldn’t of let someone else log into your account” I can say I let him recover my account numerous times before. I’ve known him ever since I had Xbox live (about 5 years). I believe I shouldn’t have been banned for something that I didn’t even do in the first place. I play fair on reach and I don’t disrupt other player’s experiences either. (Besides the occasional t-bag of course) All help is greatly appreciated, and thanks to all that read this.

I would say your friend may of had some modded content on his Xbox and while logged into your account he was banned.Unfortuntely there is not much you can do as your terms of servioce with XBL place the responsibilyt of your account with you. Sorry.

Well thanks for the reply, kind of sucks that I was trying to do a good thing for a friend then it just back fires on me. The whole permanently banned thing is kinda extreme, especially since I didn’t even do anything in the first place. I would say maybe like a two or three month ban would be more reasonable, with maybe like a revoke of service tag privileges. Or even just a permanent credit ban would be okay with me, I just liked playing with friends on reach. Now I can’t even do that…

There’s always the option of getting a new console and account. You would have to start over on everything though. I know I probably wouldn’t like to do that but if you have the money and enjoy playing with your friends, it might be a solution.

You said orginally you owed your friend some money. Well i reckon he now owes you something. Have you asked him what he did and what was his reaction. Or has he disappeared of the face of the earth.

I talked to him, he said that he is sorry he got me banned. Apparently he used some sort of coding to mod my service tag. I’m still upset over this but there is not much I can do, you’d think he’d atleast ask me before he’d do that to my account. I basically revoked his privilege to recover my account for awhile. He lost my trust, and that’s all there is to it. Kind of sucks that 343 can’t change my ban into a permanent credit ban instead of a permanent online ban. But what ever, I have other games to keep me occupied.

I was banned by a person who got mad that I won the game. This is against the code of ethics. I did absolutely nothing wrong and have the conversation saved to prove it. He called me an a hole and then said he was reporting me.

I need the ban lifted and him to be banned for his improper use of the reporting system. His gamer tag is [CLASSIFIED]

This is a complete violation of the code of ethics and he needs to be banned for his illegal use of this reporting system

>

No individual can ban you. He may be able to report you but nothing will happen unless you actually did something wrong. When you received the message saying you were banned, what did it say was the reasoning for the ban?

Also reporting other player’s gamertags on the Waypoint forums is against the rules.

I’m trying to find out how long my daughter and I will be temporarily credit banned, it started on 5/22/2014 at around 10pm cst and we are now what on day 4? Can anyone assist?
