Happened to us too. Dad played Matchmaking with head shots through Halo Reach. He was terrible at it, scored zero kills and spent a lot of time trying to get around the game. About five hours later…banned from earning CR’s. He’d never been on Matchmaking by himself and got tattered. There are people out there that are that bad. The game should be able to look at people’s accounts to see when we get our Xbox Account. If we’ve only had it two weeks, odds are, we aren’t THAT good. Duh.
Hi,
My teenage son (this account) was banned today from Halo Reach and the console received a permanent ban. The message in the game is “This Xbox 360 console has been banned permanently from Halo: Reach online.”
I’m not disputing the ban (at least not yet). I’m just trying to understand what happened. I can’t figure out by looking at his Career stats what happened.
He told me that his only bad behavior is to quit games. But I don’t see in the FAQs or other messages a reason why that would result in a console ban. He has also has a modded profile but never plays that online.
He played the game with his younger brothers last night and they aren’t very good. But I also don’t see why that would result in a permanent ban.
Can someone help me (us) understand what has happened?
Thanks!
Well I was just wondering if you can tell me why and for how long I am banned. My wife and I are the only two that play and we both are legit players. We honestly have no idea why and how long this ban is it doesn’t say if you could inform us that would be great thank you.

If he was permanently banned, odds are he did something against the TOS such as modding or hacking his profile or game or something.
snickerdoodle (or others),
I understand a violation of ToS can result in a console ban. But how do we find out if this is what happened? At this point, I’m just looking for information, and I don’t know where to find it.
Thanks
Bump
That information you seek is in short supply on Waypoint. But i may have an answer for you.
I had a good look at your sons game history back to the beginning of November and the games I could get up he had quit the game early. He had a DNF ( Did Not Finsh) next to his name.
Now you wont get a perma ban for just quitting a few games but if you repeatedly ignore the warnings you get from your temporary bans for quitting (and he would of had quite a few of those 10 mins bans as i counted over 40 DNFs in the games i could see) it can lead to a perma ban for serious repeat offenders which i think your son has been guilty of.
Have a chat to him and ask him how many times he has been on a quit probation and remind him his stats dont lie.
Was wondering if you had a chance to look into my original post have been banned for 4 days now with no reason or a day the ban will be lifted. Any information would be greatly appreciated thank you for your time in this matter.

Can you give some info into what type of ban you have got. Is it a ban from earning credits. your game history shows you are still playing so you either have a ban from earning credits or you are on a quit probation.
If it is a ban from earning credits you may find the problem is what we call Zero kill games. If your wife or you has a had a number of games that one of you had no kills in the system detects this as AFK activity and may issue a ban. First time bans are one to two days and can lead out to longer bans of a week, then 2 weeks then a month for repeat offences. Serious repeat offences can lead to a permenant ban as well. Waypoint wont acutally let me see any of your game history at the moment so it is hard to see if there are any zero kill games in your history.
Unfortunatly the ban system is automated and no one here can lift your ban. it only fellow gamers like me who can advise you based on what we have seen, heard and experienced from playing the game. If your wife has been doing zero kill games i can suggest to avoid further bans in the future make sure she has at least one kill or assist per game and that will avoid the detection of the banhammer.
Yes it is a credit ban. She played firefight the other day she only played one game but she logged the guest in cause she was not used to playing on a big screen that was not split. So from what you said sounds like that is why the ban happened but that was the first and only time she has logged the guest in and didn’t play him. So I’m baffled why it hit us with a ban. This is our first time being banned and it’s been 5 days now. Seems harsh to me to be banned for so long cause she played one game.
Hello. I am having troubles too but I am not sure if I have indeed been banned. I have been grinding hard on firefight, slayer and invasion, doing my best to complete the challenges. However at the end of my last Firefight match. The matchmaker said that “the Halo:Reach server is temporarily down” or something to that effect. I thought well, fair enough, must be maintenance or something. I decided to play Campaign for a bit and too my shock I saw my credits were not rising. Have I been banned? if so, why?

No you havent been banned. The servers were down for maintenance for 4 hours. There is a seperate post baout it from the 343 admin team.
Is there at least a way to see why you were banned? I literally have 0 friends on xbox, meaning I don’t communicate with anybody, so I couldn’t have offended another player. I also don’t have a headset, so it couldn’t have been an in-game offense. I rapidly crouch (hump) people after I kill them, but that can’t be an offense that’s punishable by a ban.
Got a console/account credit ban. I believe this is due to the fact that I was playing with my younger brother as a guest. Honesty, he sucks, he’s young and had a few 0 kill games. Can’t really say I was boosting when I was playing matchmaking and playing on the same team as my guest, but if anyone could review please do, as not being able to earn credits soon after starting to play Halo Reach again is frustrating.
Hello Dears my problem is diferent! I havent cheated or anyone has used but me … And it says that i am halo reach banner to earning credits temporaly, so i wonder i didnt violate any law and how long this is going to last? Thank you!
I’m trying to figure out why my son got a temporary ban on earning xp. He is 6 and has been playing Halo 4 for about an hour, I just got him the XBOX 360 with Halo 4 and TombRaider for Christmas so today was his first day turning it on. I did not set up a headset for him as I don’t want him talking to unknown people, especially those with foul language. He has not been AFK during Halo 4 play, he did go afk during TombRaider and some mini free games which he got bored with. During the Halo game the internet has gone down 3 times while he was playing and I had to restart the XBOX system to get it to reconnect. Upon turning it back on after the third drop of internet there was the message saying this account is temporarily banned from earning XP. He also only has 1 controller so that can’t be the issue and he was not playing with any guests as I don’t even know how to set that up (Had to watch Youtube just to get the setup of XBOX and download games right in the first place). I read a lot of forums and it said there should not be a bann for internet connection problems yet it was banned. Is there a way to find out specifically why it was XP banned and how long it will last. My son just enjoys playing so not earning XP isn’t a bother for him and he’ll keep playing anyway, but it does concern me that a game/system/gold member etc can be banned for unknown reasons. If anyone knows how I can go about finding out specifically why there was an XP bann, how long, and if there is a way to appeal it, please let me know. Maybe I’m just an overly concerned mother where banns and things are concerned but I want to ensure that he is able to play without limitations.
I had just gotten my Xbox back from a friend who has been borrowing it for near a year and when I got to the main screen for Halo 4 it had said that the entire console had been banned. Why would my entire console be banned? Do you really expect me to buy an entirely new console just to play Halo 4?? I did nothing wrong whatsoever with my account or my Xbox. I had planned on buying a season pass and nearly all the Halo digital extras cause I am a huge fan but apparently now I cannot. I really hope someone can get back to me with good news regarding this cause I know you guys don’t want to miss out on making more money off me
Trying to figure out why my son recurrence console and credit bans. My kids play halo and my daughter is not very good so she had had number of 0 kill games. I don’t feel that a player or their console deserve to be banned for not being very good. Neither of them have tried to cheat so. As long as a player is moving and firing and trying should not lead to a ban because they get 0 kills IMO. Please look into this matter. Thank you for your time.
How can I see what I was banned for?
I am playing Halo 4 on Xbox Live and there was a network error and then it says banned. WTF?
Thanks,
Nate
I got a credit ban tonight after not doing very well in some games. I wasn’t AFK I just stink and am still learning. Why should I get banned for learning how to play and not being very good yet? How long does this last? I guess this is a great welcome to xbox after 5 days.
