I haven’t played Halo Reach in about 4 months and a few days ago i wanted to go back and play it with a friend. But when i load up the game it says that my Xbox console has been banned permanently from halo reach. Could you please tell me why i was banned and if it was a mistake could i be unbanned?
Ok, so since I can’t be bothered to read through 250+ pages for a potential answer, can somebody give me a QUICK rundown on this “mute-ban” bs?
My story is this, about a month ago I bought H4, and played a few games of Reach the night before or two days before or something like that. I apparently got pegged the one time I plugged in a mic, for half of one of those games, to reply to my teammates in H:Reach. It sucks since I like to hear what little banter there is (or was, I guess), but I can deal with that.
What I CAN’T bite my lip about is this: bought H4 digital about the same time. Ran through campaign without touching multiplayer. After I finished it, I started up War Games (whose idea was it to make it DLC? Free or not, that’s limited), DL’d it, and the FIRST GAME LOBBY I got in, EVERYBODY was already muted, and I haven’t been able to unmute anyone since, or check fileshares (not a big deal to me, but worth mentioning, I think). It’s been 30 days & counting, now, and I’m sick of it.
Where’s the notice, or is there one? Is this just a permanent ban that players aren’t notified of? Or is it probationary, I.e. after X amount of real-world/in-game time it’s lifted? And if so, which is it? I’m just generally pissed off about it, so excuse me if I’m out of line or whatever the case may be.
tl;dr: blah blah, was banned from H4 comms before I even downloaded multiplayer, it pisses me off, gimme info plzkthx

I cannot see anything in your game history that would warrant a perma ban. If the ban is on the console then perhaps can i ask if you have been banned from any other games like Halo4 or some other game. That would explain why you cant play Reach. Also are their any other account on that console that may have incurred the ban instead and you are suffering as a consequence. Is this console the same one you played reach on 4 months ago.
it could be for many reason but the end of the day they only dish out console bans for serious offences and while it may not be your account an account on that console has breached the rules and a ban has been applied.

Um, Several problems you are hitting. Feel for you.

Mute ban is an XBL ban. Other players have manually hit the mute button on you so many times it triggered the mute ban to have you automatically muted. This will only affect how you talk with strangers, you should be able to talk with friends as if no ban exists. Also, ban will be extended the more people mute you. (every time I see a person is auto-muted/mute ban, I un-mute but %90 of the time I find them loud or offensive and re-mute them.)No matter what the x number of time that must pass, it will only be reset unless you start playing with your friends and reduce your chances of players manually muting you.

fileshare? need more info. Country? State?
Good luck to ya

Makes more sense now, I was wondering why I couldn’t hear people in other games, either… Unfortunately for me, none of my active friends are on when I am or have most of the games I play, so I’ll just have to tough it out or somethin’.

What I meant was when I click on a player in the lobby & it brings up the list of actions (where the un/mute option is), the mute selection & the file share are both locked; can’t be clicked. Dunno what that’s about, never noticed that was blocked in lobbies in the past. I also noticed while playing a different game that I couldn’t send other people messages at all; but then again, that could just be a setting I’m unaware of (except not really).
Current residence is crappy valley, UT. (People call it happy valley, but it’s only happy [but only for pretend, at that] if you’re a Mormon)
Thanks for the info & reply.
It says my sccount and console is temp banned from earning credits this is my first offence (it was because I fell asleep whilst playing)how long will it last?
hello everyone, I was definitely banned for diferent reasons from halo reach. I have 2 xbox 360 is not a problem for console but if i change my gamertag, my account will unbanned?
Hi. My GT is “Why So Seriius” and I would like to know why I was banned and how long I will be banned. I think i know why I was banned. I camped a few games w/out getting any kills. If this is the case im sorry and I wont do it again. Im not a booster or a cheater. If you look at my record youll see that I play all games and that I complete most of the daily challenges and even the weekly challenges. Im not asking to be unbanned just that you take it easy on me since this is my first offense.
I just booted up Halo Reach today to do some more credit grinding in campaign to find out I have been credit banned for 2 weeks. I utilized custom challenges in campaign, with multiplayer games thrown in the break up the boredom or to kill time while waiting for the last stack of 25k credits to deposit into the bank so I could make sure I capped out at 200k. Checking my game history will reveal exactly what I described as well as some rather poor performance in matchmaking but those things happen. The only thing I have noticed is that sometimes if I play a multiplayer game while waiting for the last 25k of the daily 200k to deposit into the account sometimes the value goes over the 25k at the conclusion of the match, that would be the 25k custom challenges as well as whatever credits are earned from the match itself. If there is any increase it doesn’t carry over into other matches if I want to keep playing to just have fun, at times I have even seen the credit counter subtract a hundred or so only to add it back right after at the end of the match. I just assumed this was some hiccup in the server processing the custom challenge and the match credits same time. I had finally decided to just grind my way to Inheritor and had pegged the rank unlocking a little after Christmas, now mid January if the ban holds. Any information would be appreciated, obviously no more ban would be preferred.

What I highlighted is the only thing you mentioned that is possibly relevant to a Credit ban/0 kill credit ban. A few times in your Game history not only does your performance dip, but you play with people who score 0 kills. Which is more than enough to trigger the 0 kill credit ban. It would appear that these people play with you, not just match with. When people on the same console or even in a party… when one person gets flagged for cheating/bullying/0 kill, it has been said that the whole party gets a flag or minor flag. This I don’t believe it to be true but if it is… the more you play these people by choice as the earn 0 kills you will share their 0 kill credit ban. This might be to prevent parties form bringing in inactive players just to boost the active players stats/scores. If these players are your friens… you might want to practice with them in custom games before taking them to Online Matchmaking.

There are 4 people who believe spawn killing in grifball and talking trash to other players is fun, I have versed them a couple days ago and they are sending me messages now saying they can’t get banned for cheating by boosting their K/D in every game they come across, People can not get out of it either without quitting and getting temporarily banned? I have to deal with these people until the game was over and my K/D my kills were around 15 my deaths were around 50 they were so happy well others were very disappointed, These people need to either be reset or banned for boosting their kills on people in matchmaking grifball, I have filed complaint them for “Cheating” and still nothing. Their gamertags are: [REDACTED], [REDACTED], [REDACTED], [REDACTED]. Please Halo Reach players watch out for these guys as they will harass you after spawn killing you on grifball
Me I pichuuu I and muoviananas played halo reach and now we are permanently banned for no reason…what should we do?my account and console are banned only in reach. we didnt get any message or anything. now i must buy new x box to play halo reach or what? this must be some kind of joke. we didnt do anything wrong.
The same thing as pichuuu said here… We were playing like we always do, Double Team (reach). We are quite good at it and hardly ever lose. Then suddenly midgame comes this random pop-up (reach font) saying that: This xbox360 has been permanently banned from playing matchmaking on xbox live. Then followed by: This Account has been permanently banned from playing matchmaking on xbox live. So basically we both got permanent bans for nothing. I’ve (We’ve) read the thread many times over and found ourselves quilty of NONE of those things listed. So what magic is this? Would someone please explain? I think this is not very consumer-friendly to make people buy new xbox live gold & the console itself? So please… Tell us what it is you think we did to get permanently banned from our favourite game… been playing the game since it came out… This must be a bad joke… I can get a list of 5-10 player backing up our stories… So please RESPOND!!
Gamertags: muoviananas & I PicHuUu I
I just had a bad day at school… I was looking forward to playing halo reach only to find that I was permenently banned from halo reach I just want to know why. Also bungie please let me play again I love this game I play it every day for about 3 hours per day. I didnt do anything thing wrong, I have lots of friends that will back me up on this.
WHY HAVE I BEEN BANNED
>
Sorry SecondKyle but nothing will be done becasue these guys have not broken any rules. They are just one of the many groups that troll gamestypes like Grifball looking to pad out their stats by spawnkilling. You find them in Swat as well. The onyl time these guys get any type of ban for boosting is when they play in a full aprty of 8 with guests accounts and spawnkill the guest accounts to boost the commedations for Close Quarters,Multi Kills and Sprees and boost their KD spread.
At best you can file a report if the messages they are sending you are offensive and or threaten you. At best then they will get a Code of Conduct ban but still be allowed to play Matchmaking. YOU CAN ALWAYS BLOCK COMMUNICATION AS WELL.
Why am I banned?
I literally only played for a week or so this time last year, I only have 2 Incomplete Games according to my Stats. I haven’t done any boosting or any other form of cheating. So the only thing it could possibly be is hardware/software modifying, which I have no idea about, only just recently got a new Xbox.
This has completely come out of the blue, and I hope to get it sorted.

Was this new Xbox already used by somebody else?

What type of ban has been applied and what was your gamertag you played under because according to Waypoint oyur above account has never played Reach. If it is a console ban and it is a second hand console you have bought you probably find the console has a ban on it and that was the reason the previous owner sold it.
