Why Did I Get Banned - The Official Thread

Ha! I called it! I had figured that was it. Unfortunately, Big Clay is my brother, and he doesn’t enjoy these games without me, sadly. I’ll just have to get used to the bans, then…or he can get better. Yeah, let’s go with that.

Or you could just grab his controller Jake and make sure he has at least one kill before you give it back to him. That will see you avoid detection by the Banhammer.

Are there a certain anount of days?

I presume the rest of your question would be " a ban from earning credits will last"

I had a look at your game history and you have had a lot of games in Grifball that you got zero kills in. This would lead the Banhammer to detect this as AFK activity. ie: it thinks your not actually playing and just earning credits for being in the game. AFK activity will result in a ban from earning credits in game. First offence is usually 48 hours but if you keep playing and keep getting zero kills in a game that ban will be extended out to longer periods of up to weeks, months and then a permanent ban for serious repeat offenders.

So if this is your first credit ban i would do 3 things. No1. Wait till the ban is finshed before you start playing any Matchmaking games like grifball. No2. Once the ban ends stay away from Grifball as it is full of stat padding whores who just like to get lots of kills to boost their KD spread and playing in that based on your past history will see you get another credit ban that will go for longer. No3. Play firefight more to practice getting kills or play custom games with friends till you get better at the game and can get at least one kill in every matchmaking game you play in.

Remember it only takes one kill to avoid the banhammer detection.

I can’t figure out WHY I was credit banned?

How long does it last?

How do I prevent it from happening again?

Thank you!

As i answered a guy above on the same topic. please forgive the cut and paste.

I had a look at your game history and you have had a lot of games that you and sometimes your guest got zero kills in. This would lead the Banhammer to detect this as AFK activity. ie: It thinks your not actually playing and just earning credits for being in the game. It only takes about 3 games with Zero kills in short time period to be detected.
No1. Wait till the ban is finshed before you start playing any Matchmaking games again and maybe just do some Firefight to pass the time. No2. Once the ban ends stay away from Invasion and Grifball as it is full of stat padding whores who just like to get lots of kills to boost their KD spread and playing in that based on your past history will see you get another credit ban that will go for longer. No3. When you return to matchmaking play team Snipers or BTB as you seem be able to get some kills in those playlists.

Remember it only takes one kill per game to avoid the banhammer detection no matter how many times you die and zero kills for your guest accounts will see you slapped with a ban as well..

Happy Gaming.

I got credit banned in halo reach and I have no idea why. Could you please tell me why so this wont happen again?

> I got credit banned in halo reach and I have no idea why. Could you please tell me why so this wont happen again?

Flaming Boss read my 2 previous responses to the other players for an explanation. Credit bans are issued for AFK activity and you have had quite a few games with Zero kills. Unfortunately the Banhammer 343i inherited from Bungie detects zero kill games as AFK activity and will flag you for a ban.The only other way to earn a credit ban is to hit the daily limit of 200,000 credits and you havent played enough game in any giving day for that.
Some of those zero kill games look like you actually quit the game (as you had no deaths) and that will be recorded as a zero kill game as well. If you want to quit a game make sure you get at least one kill before you do and get at least one kill in all your matches to avoid banhammer detection.

Thanks! I have one more question so your saying if someone’s skilled enough and they reach the credit limit they get banned???

> Thanks! I have one more question so your saying if someone’s skilled enough and they reach the credit limit they get banned???

Yeah they have a cap on credit called your daily credit limit. it currently sits at 200,000 credits per day. Once you hit it you wont earn anymore credits for that day. The next day you can go and smash up another 200K credits. It was brought in to stop people boosting and ranking up to quickly.

And yes people do hit the cap. You have noticed that every time you rank up you get more credits for game complete. The higher your rank the more you get. for example on my inheritor account i would get around 5000 to 6000 credits for a game of BTB. On my Captain account i am lucky to get 900 for the same game. Firefight can yield me around 9000 to 12000 credits per game as an inheritor and in certain gametypes like Grifball if we hold the bomb and score in sudden death 3 times i will get a whopping average of around 24,000 credits for that game because the performance bonus on those game types are so high. So as you can see from those examples high ranks can hit the daily cap quite easily.

I you want to know any more info like this just PM me. i am happy to share all that i have learnt about how to get the best out of the credit payout system because i think everyone who is still playing Reach deserves the Haunted Helmet.

Thanks, But I understand the banhammer got me for AFK cause It would be getting credits for not playing but I hit the credit limit so it really didn’t benefit me, not saying I should be unbanned but ill try to prevent it. Second I’ve been playing a lot of Swat would that do anything, and third every time im about 100,000 cR away from ranking up it Bans me so its my 4th time so i’ll probably be long right? I guess I deserve it. Anyway thanks.

So what you are saying is your credit ban was for hitting the daily limit of 200,000 credits. That is a temporary ban that resets at the end of each day and you can get another 200,000 the next day and each day after that. That said you can hit your daily cap every day without any extra penalty for doing so. The Banhammer wont touch you for doing this. If your credit ban is lasting longer and does not reset each day then that would be for your zero kill games.

Oh okay I searched up that a First ban is usually 24 hours and the rest are 2 weeks So I guess I got a while. Thanks.

If its your first credit ban then it will be 48 hours for the both of you. I suggest if you keep playing and you get near the end of a game and your girlfriend has not got a kill yet then you may want to swap controllers and get one kill for her. But looking at your stats she is getting better pretty quickly so if you keep playing like you have on your last 10 games together then i cant see another credit ban being placed on you or your girlfriend for zero kill games.

If the ban lasts longer than 48 hours then it os probably not the first time you have done this so it could last a week if it is a second time ban. Any further offences can run into month long and bans and serious repeat offenders will get a permanent ban.

Its probably been asked before but can i actually get banned for hitting my credit limit? ive already had 2 credit bans cant afford another

> Its probably been asked before but can i actually get banned for hitting my credit limit? ive already had 2 credit bans cant afford another

The ban for hitting your daily credit limit is only for the remainder of the day you are playing in. From memory it usually resets at midnight in your local time zone. You will not be penalised further for hitting it everyday. If your ban is extending past midnight each day and goes for longer then your credit ban will be for something else like AFKing.

You have played quite a few games of Grifball with a player called Marcusrandum. Is that account on your Xbox. If so his zero kill games in Grifball could be the why you have a credit ban as well as the banhammer will detect his zero kill games as AFK activity and put a temporary credit ban on your console. First offence is 24 -48 hours with ban extending to weeks and months for repeat offenders and perma bans for serious repeat offenders.

Used to get banned daily in reach coz we were complete -Yoinks!- and we would betray people and get kicked

Also we betray them
They get revenge
Boom booted

Kinda regret it these days lol

Me my 5 and 7 yr old son were playing for the first time in a couple of weeks, my 5 yr old does not get very many kills and mostly has fun driving in vehicles in big team when we play. We got banned yesterday, we played maybe an hour or so and neither my 5 yr old or 7yr old are very good but they both have fun playing. So I am wondering why we got banned when we rarely play and they just want to have fun playing with me. I dont even know how long this ban is for and my real question is if we start playing again are we just going get banned again. I know some people might be trying to take advantage of the system but what about the little guys like my boys who just have fun playing. We have never boosted “ever” and getting punished because they are not the greatest of players is wrong. they dont get many kills but they are active the whole game. they were guests on my account and I know I was getting quite a few kills every game so I dont even know how this can be mistaken for boosting if that is what we were mistakenly banned for.
