Ok so I was helping my friend get some Reach achievements by doing the 4 controller each method. No excessive killing, no excessive winning, etc.
I find out today Im banned temporarily. Why!? Most important question is how long?!!!

You probably went AFK with one of the controllers, that will get you banned. Even if you killed them you would still be banned, your ban should last for 2 weeks I think.
What you’re doing is called ‘Full-Party AFK Boosting.’
You’re unfairly tipping the scales in your favour towards earning challenges/commendations/wins. Undermining the entire system of credit gain.
Now, Bungie/343i don’t particularly mind you partying up to get a full game to yourself to make getting challenges/achievements easier; there isn’t much they can do to stop you. However, every controller must be in someone’s hands, and they must be actively participating in the match. So you can trade running riots off each other on a full-partied CTF game if you like, but not against inanimate players.
EDIT: And even if you weren’t going for kills, you’re still earning that game complete/slot machine for not playing against anyone.

I believe the second offense is 2 weeks.

343 doesn’t need the videos so stop looking for them.
well i called one of my friends who knows someone that works for bungie told him what all happend. he told me that the vids should still b in my history. he said it sounds like someone could of hacked into my account to mess with me and deleted the videos so i wouldnt have proof of the games that i was supposidly idle boosting in. wish me luck

Haahahahahahahahahhaahah!!! Ok…first of all, Bungie is no longer in Halo. Secondly, if your account is hacked then don’t write in these forums because it’s Microsoft’s job and not 343’s. Thirdly…the videos CANNOT be deleted from Temporary History. Try it yourself…

It has become a common problem with Reach as the ranking system based on credits, and the majority of credits earned are through time in matches, not performance. Looking at your history, just a spot check, I am not seeing activity to determine your ban.

does anyone here have an idea of what can cause you to be in slayer for im guessing around 4 or 5 minutes and then suddenly every one supposidly quits and ur the last person left. then when you get to the matchmaking lobby you get disconnected?? this has happend to me and i know its not my router or modem cause whenever they have problems i cant get internet on my laptop or ipod…
HI my gamertag is xl0k1x01 and i would like someone who knows how the ban system works to tell me why i was console and gamertaag banned, in the middle of a game… i do not lag switch or mod, afk or any of that stuff… i quit a game or two every now and then but thats it… i only play matchmakking no campaign or firefight so i dont understand what i did. a funny thing to i stopped playing halo for two weeks because of work… then when i came back and cut my game on for the 1st time since a 2week period i was banned??? how is that possible when no1 was on my console playing because im the only 1 in my household who plays halo and i have a password lock on my gt. i do not boost my kills either i just been playing this for a wile and know how to play pretty well. i dont cheat why am i banned this is unfair and has happened to accouple friends of mine… no warning or reason just banned

Quitting at all pretty much starts sticking to your ban record in a sense. Someone will come along with a list of the matches you’ve quit and give a more detailed response but from observation, you quit more than twice it seems and you’re on the radar.
Sadly with issues like this, they retain the right to take action without reason or explanation. They are seemingly overly strict with Quitting and AFK’ing above most things. Either way, if you’ve been quitting matches, then that’s pretty much your answer.

Something with your connection. Similar thing is happening to a buddy where the match will host migrate, he’ll go quiet and then disappear out of the XBL Party and game and then pop right back in the party to tell us everyone quit and then disconnects him.
Check the main menu under Networking and see what your stats say.
If all bars are green, then it’s probably your console itself.
It must be something directly with your Xbox’s connection or it’s solely with your ISP. I’d contact them just in case.
I was banned for no reason and i am 100% positive of it.
The match on Zealot where i got no kills only went for 79 seconds and everyone got 0 kills. Also the swat match where i had 0 kills i was walking around the map whilst getting killed because it was lagging. So how can you explain that?
I was banned a day after my last match when i tried to play matchmaking.
I have some question. Bungie and you guys(343i) made it clear what is a ban and what isn’t. Also telling us (if asked) why we got banned. I have not been banned from any various thing in halo reach but i have some question.
With every penalty/ban there is different levels of a penalty/ban?
So what is the sentence of someone that has guest(s) inactive on his team. And a friend with inactive guest(s) on his team. Vs someone that disconnects their internet source to keep doing challenges? BOTH doing the offence the first time (By this I mean doing it once for that day and it being their first offence.)
Also since rules get updated once something is bannable that wasn’t bannable before. Would the offender get away clean because at the time doing so he/she was not in breach of the rules?
With this I mean doing the reset challenges ‘thing’ was not bannable before it was brought upon bungie. Once they saw it; they ruled it a ban.
Why do I ask these questions if i have not been banned before? Because I want it to be clear as diamonds for someone that comites a banable offense as to how they will be dealt and why they are being dealt with.

problem is with this if someone is new to halo (or not very good) or you have a guest and they have no kills that counts AFK which can count towards a ban that is really dumb im sorry
