Why Did I Get Banned - The Official Thread

Yesterday I was playing Halo Reach with my nephew on split screen, however, as it seems he isn’t the best at the game. I have been constantly looking around forums and other sites to figure out why I have been “temporarily banned from earning credits” and as it seems, I have discovered that it is because he wasn’t getting very many kills in game. Personally, I find this very pathetic and stupid as there are people who purposely go out there and mod the game and get away with it. I see that you say that the ban system is accurate… It obviously isn’t. Banning players for being idle or not getting kills is an appalling way to draw in customers I do believe so myself. As for people saying I was suspected of credit boosting, I see this impossible as we were playing Team Snipers and Double Team. Would you like to explain to me how this works, as I see no possible way of earning credits from team killing. This is purely out of frustration that I ask you to please lift my ban and make sure that it doesn’t happen anymore. Like I said, being banned for not being very good is harsh compared to what other players do. Also, he is a split screen player who would never be matched on the opposite team, so there is no possible way for credit boosting. I have never played griff ball or anything like it in my life, because I only play the things I think he has a chance at. And to be honest, he had only a few games in a row where he didn’t get kills. Other than that, he got kills in games, and did fairly well for someone of his age. I don’t see why he should be the reason I am banned, because that is far to harsh over a computer game. My gamertags is NerdySnipezZ. Please get back to me and let me know if this ban will be lifted, as I am not prepared to wait any longer. Thanks,

Who said it was accurate?

Every one accepts the fact that it often times hits children who simply can’t get kills. However sir, this game is rated m for mature… Age 17+…

You thrusted your nephew in a world of mature rules. Don’t try to act like people are thrusting mature rules on your nephew.

I was just wondering if you could get banned if you never played one day on xbox live. One of my friends had that happen to them and the credits and rank have never come back.

Um… What is the question?

Things to mention to get a more accurate response

Type of ban:quite ban, credit ban and mute ban are the most common three.

If your friend has never played a single day… Then there is nothing to come back to.

It sounds like your friend used to play OFFLINE. earned his credits and rank while OFFLINE. And when he connected it to Xbox Live Gold he lost his credits/rank. If this is what you mean then no… It’s not a ban and the only way he can get it back is by earning it.

> I was just wondering if you could get banned if you never played one day on xbox live. One of my friends had that happen to them and the credits and rank have never come back.

That’s not a ban. That happened to me when I played Halo Reach for the first time online. I had an offline profile that I never signed up for Xbox Live and eventually wanted to get Xbox Live. When I got Xbox Live it brought down my rank to one of the beginning ranks and I lost a lot of my credits. They do this to keep offline players (who earn 20000 credits per Firefight match) from starting matchmaking at an extremely high rank. Sorry, but like TimZaRob said, your friend is going to have to earn all of that back just like I did. There’s no way to get the rank back, not even by playing offline again with that profile.

Same for me. 3 months of credits down the drain.

My gamertag is A X U S R A I D, and i would like to raise a dispute against my halo 3 matchmaking ban, it was unlawfully placed due to DDoS’ers, i was not responsible for the host booting from games but yet i am the one who got banned? extremely frustrated as i love halo 3 online and still continue to play it.

Sucks to hear that. Don’t know what law you speak of… Also, you are on the board for Halo Reach bans.

What does DDoS mean?

Denial of service attacks… He thinks that someone that he was matched against was able to obtain his ip and MAC address then proceed to use nasty methods of causing him to lose connection to the host/lag out. Possible if you have poor net security. Some people have beautiful security systems that send the attack right back to sender. It’s funny if you watch it happen.

I am a new player to halo and I played yesterday. No modding has been done, no complaints were filed, and I was legitamatly trying to learn how to play the game. Now I am banned from gaining xp? How is this even justified? I feel like this was wrong. How can I get this ban removed?

You played too many games were you earned 0 kills. You want me to justify this? Ok

Credits = game currency used to purchase decorative armor and firefight voices (no in game advantages)

Credits are earned by playing your role as a Spartan III, more credits you earn… The higher rank you earn.

Earning 0 kills = not fulfilling your role as a spartan

Not doing job = hindering your team = not paying you with game currency… Your pay will be withheld till you pull yourself together

No kills = not rewarding with rank promotions

Recomendations? Be able to complete Normal Dificulty Campaign before playing against real enemies that are determined to fight back. You think it’s unfair to not get paid… Well your teammates think its unfair to have to be called your teammate. Please don’t ask for credits you refuse to earn. 1) you are still allowed to play 2) the credit ban is not permanent but will renew if you continue performing poorly 3) the credits would give you no in game advantage soo, its not giving players with more credits an unfair advantage over you.

Yes, you paid to play… So did others. The expect a fair system that doesn’t hand out free currency to players that put in 0 kills . Especially since it takes 50 kills to win, you should be getting more than 10 kills. 10 kills X 4 teammates = 40 points… Oh still lost.

You are a new player. Don’t worry about credits or rank. Just play, learn you will be fine. Credits eventually flow like water. You’ll get there.

Hope that helps.

I was banned for about a day and a half but the moment my ban was lifted I gained exp for one match (I got 5 kills that match) but on the next match I was apparently banned yet again. I have read the reasons for being banned and I have done none of the above. As I have stated in my previous post I am a new player to the Halo 4 series, I normally play the the same 3 people and I don’t spawn kill nor do I sit still. I am active during matches and I am not letting others kill me with out me trying to kill them first. I am new to multiplayer experience and it very disheartening to be doing nothing wrong and be banned when I keep getting spawn killed and not have a chance to move. I would be much appreciate this issue being looked in to.

Thank you;

I started playing yesterday I guess by your definition I am supposed to be a expert… I was doing the best I could. I am not complaining because when I didn’t earn any kills I didn’t gain exp. What my complaint is if you read was I was banned for NO REASON! So before writing a snarky reply to a post maybe just maybe you should think of what was written instead of trying to be smug… if you want something to ban me for to reply to your comment Screw you thunder you can -Yoink!- -Yoink-!!!

Dude, chillax. You just need a little more practice in Campaign or Firefight before you go nuts in Matchmaking. You say that you understand that you got no kills, and then you say that you were banned for no reason. The lack in points for your team is the reason. Also, you say you play with the same people a lot. That could be a problem as well because if you’re getting consistant scores each game with them, the system that tracks cheaters will suspect that the group you play with is up to something (even if that isn’t the case).

And for your information, TimZaRob is only trying to help. He’s the only user on here (besides me) that will help people with Halo Reach bans for the last few pages. So don’t get on his bad side, because he’s your best source of ban information on this thread.

Ok… No snarky. You need one kill… Just one kill to not earn this ban.

To put that in perspective, if you earned just 1 kill and all three of your teammates all earned 16 points each… Your team total would still be

1+16+16+16= 49 points (a team where all its members put in equal work should look something close to 12+12+13+13=50) not asking you to be an expert… Not even asking you to put in a fair amount… You just need 1

If you earn 1 kill… You avoid the ban, still cause your team to lose which many would say is unfair to your team… But you still get no ban as long as you get 1 kill.

Sorry if I sound mean, but I literally tried to get 0 kills on purpose and recorded it for people who say “I am trying but can’t”

This is me intentionally trying NOT TO KILL ANYONE… However if you point your weapon at some one and pull the trigger its almost impossible to come out of games earning 0 kills in multiple games. Once more, you need 1 kill per game to avoid this ban. I’m not trying to put you down or anything but that is literally all you must do… 1 kill. You don’t have to win… Don’t have to be an expert. Just get 1 kill.

Hi im one that she plays with on halo and seeing how we are on the same box and all we play is swat so that fact even the system would be able to tell that!!! and the fact that she plays with the same team on a team base game means that we as her team work as a team and if the ban system is calling that cheating then explain why spawn killers and people who leigetly betray their team repeatedly game after game are not banned nor are people who form “clans” and play with only their “clan mates” are not banned. by that logic of yours that would me that the system of banning is faulty and needs to be relooked at and revampted.

The system isn’t suspecting her of cheating, it’s suspecting her of not helping her team/being absent from the game. No matter what gametype you play, players are expected to be able to assist their team in earning points. So, even if she’s trying she’ll continue to get banned until she can be helpful for the team she’s on.

Can’t tell what you are saying mate. Please understand I know the rules and how they work but I have to use translation software from www.translate.google.com

What you are telling me doesn’t translate well. Please be more clear on

  1. gamer tag
  2. what type of ban was received (credit ban, quite ban, voice ban)

I’ll be happy to help if I can…

One thing you might want to complain about is this…

https://www.halowaypoint.com/en-us/players/firefly006669/haloreach/gamehistory

You game history disappears for some reason so if you have a ban… Yet have no history… Then how earned a ban?
