I’m not entirely sure, but I think it can last up to a week. If you quit/lag out again, you won’t be able to play for ten minutes, but nothing more than that.

You seem to have a lot of games where you (and sometimes a guest) will only get a few kills and quite a few deaths, which results in you going upwards (downwards?) of -10. I don’t know if this is due to just having some bad games or being AFK, but that could be your problem.

Since you say you have not manipulated challenges then there is only one other way to get credit banned. You AFKed or AFCed otherwise known as “Away From Keyboard” or “Away From Controller”.
If you have made even a slight habit of setting the controller down and not playing while in the game you will get credit banned. Its that simple.

Ok so me and my friends where boosting the other night in griffball and me and my friend got banned but his was only a day and its been three days and im still banned? this is my first offence
I have owned 6 gamertags for my family starting when Halo 2 arrived. We don’t like the folks that quit, cheat, etc… it makes the game unfun, and it’s hard to explain to your kids. However, with all due respect, the digital backend algorithm that is used to “build a digital case” is imperfect. My console has been banned twice now for illegitimate reasons:
AFK Ban. My wife (a first time matchmaking player) played a dozen games or less and was afraid of getting killed - so creeped around a lot; my console got the AFK ban.
Quitting Ban. On a different occasion, we were playing multi-team - and got booted from approximately 4 games (network issues? I have no idea). We did not quit … we were winning a couple of these game. In any case, the overly sensitive code has identified my console as a console that quits too much.
I would be very happy to talk to anyone … I’ll fly out to CA (whatever).

OK. I know I won’t get an answer to this but here it is regardless.
About 3 days ago I got a quit too many games warning despite NOT quitting a SINGLE game.
I thought OK. Just ignore it seeing as I don’t quit games anyway and it will go away.
Well my wife (Who only signed up to xBox Live last night) played a game where everyone quite EXCEPT her, an opponent and myself.
The oppenent then quit when the score got to 10-20 in our favour which meant we complete the game and won.
So why did we BOTH then recieve a ban?
I am VERY annoyed.
Few things, first off did you lag out of any games? Did anyone else use your GT?
I haven’t been banned but I still have a problem and do not know where to turn. I stopped playing Reach for a while due to other games coming out and now I come back to play again and all my credits, armor, and rank are gone. I was told by a couple of friends that if i started to play that it would return in a couple hours but its been days now and I still have nothing even though my commendations and achievments show otherwise. Please Help because I can’t go through another four months of firefight to get my rank of General back.
No and No. I just don’t understand this at all. If there is a logical reason and I deserved it then that’s fine but I even play when I’m the only one left on my team against 4 people =(

No, the point is to get people to quit less. If you get banned for quitting, it gives you more of a reason to stay in the game. Plenty of people quit anyways, but think of how many people would quit if there were no penalty at all. Personally, I think it’s worth it since some of us rarely quit games, but still suffer because our teammates decided to quit.

I looked deep into your history, In march of 2011 (I know it was a while ago), Specifically on the 31st, you had 3 games with 0 kills in infection. Also multiple gmes on the 30th. Chances are you were banned for that, and since you din’t play again until Aprill 22nd, you had no Idea you got banned. If you have been banned for over 36 hrs already, you’re looking at a 1-2 week ban.

Sadly, no 343i employee will discuss this with you, although they took over the Halo franchise, this ban system was initiated by Bungie. The 0 kill thing was added after Reach was already out due to people standing idle and gaining credits. It was a quick, and somewhat sloppy, fix. All the good people on this site can do is look at your history, and tell you why and an estimate of how long (since this varies). I tend to try and suggest different things for players to do to avoid getting banned for new players.
O kill bans are sometimes unfair. Bad players get banned instead of the actual AFK players. After looking at your history a little, it seems your wife gets kills every game. so you should be able to avoid the ban with that.
The quit bans work really well. Yes they ban people that end up lagging out, which is what it sounds like happened to you. However, your internet connection is your responsibility. If you have other computers running at the same time as the xbox, or anything else that uses the internet, it slows up the connection to your xbox. Or you could just have slow, or “old” equipment. Either way if you lag out, you leave that 1 person on the multi team by themselves to fight on alone. So it kind of ruins their experience.

There are just three games like that out of the few dozen you can find in your history. Some of your DNF games may be AFK games as well. So that means that you got credit reset. Don’t try to cheat the system by habitually quitting and AFKing in FF.
As it says in the title. Also, not on here asking for me to be unbanned. I was boosting achievements since i hate the playlist that there in and im never going to get them legit.

Having played Halo 2, 3 and Reach online, I would say that more people quit in Reach than any other Halo game. So yes, the quit ban is very pointless, it only annoys people that lag out of games.

^^^ if you believe what you said, you would not be supporting the quit ban as it forces people to stay in games that are unfair, boring and pointless. I play objective alot and if you win 1 round of a 1 flag game most people will quit, and you then get a game of 5 v 2 which is boring and pointless, they will not quit as they might get banned and so we both have to waste our time. To solve this problem there should be a surrender option when half, or more, of your team quit. I am not saying there should be no penalty for quitting but the quit ban is pointless, annoying and not the right way of sorting the problem out.
About a year ago I was playing invasion, and drove off the edge of breakpoint in a warthog with 2 team mates on board. It was an accident b.c i was lagging (there was a storm and my connection was bad) . I instantly got booted and joined another game. Yet again I’m driving a warthog on breakpoint and some genius jumps in front of me. I splatter my team mate (whose name happened to have Jesus in it) and then I get booted. I was then banned for 10 minutes. During those 10 minutes i recieved a friend request from that suicidal maniac. WTH Yeah that made it all better buddy. Thanks. A lot.
