Why Did I Get Banned - The Official Thread

> Thanks and how long is my ban?

It depends honestly, normally the first time is 24-48 hrs, 2nd can be 1-2 weeks, and 3+ are 2 weeks.

However there is another guy on here who says his first ban is lasting over the 48 hr mark. So it may also depend on the offense. Sorry I can’t help you more than that

I’m gonna be as detailed as possible. Also please read my earlier post on this thread on the page before this, then read this. My brother(the quest account) was probably AFK for one or two games of rumble pit. Then half an hour later when I was in a Big Team Battle, when the game was loading up it notified me in two notifications that both my Xbox live account and my console were temporarily banned from earning credits. At first I thought it had something to do with the loading of that game, but then I came to this website and saw the same thing happened to some other people as well. I understand it was a mistake on both of our parts and really I just want to know how long it will last(and the “the account in question was banned due to…”). I would understand if you could not unban me but if you could it would be a lot more convenient. Also can you tell me how to turn the quest account off because I tried reloading the game, but it didn’t work so I had to turn off the console. I appreciate the help.

First time bans tend to last 24-48 hours.

To sign a guest out you grab the controller the guest was signed in on, press the Guide button and hit X and follow the on screen prompts.

I’m not here to beg for you to reverse my ban.
Just would like some answers to it.

I just brought a new 250G XBox 360 Slim. I have checked the Internet Connection many times, and it reads good, even on Reach the network is all Green.

So why am I getting lagged out of games?
I hate quitting to the max and try my best to never quit.
I have worked hard to get to where I am in the game.

I have been lagged out of so many games that I got banned for quitting.
No big deal I can wait the time.

But than it kept telling me If I quit a game I will be banned again.
then I got lagged out again, and banned.
paid my time, went back to playing.

the next day I get the same message,
a teammate that was helping the enemy team, run at an enemy I stuck and gave me the first betrayal of the day and booted me.
which got me banned again.

next day I get the same message
a friend drops his internet and lags me out of a FF game.
so I get banned.

pay my time, go one playing.

the Next day it again gives me the message.
My NEW system freezes after it says “Game Over” but before I get to the lobby.

Have to turn off my New Xbox and restart it,
get back on Reach and it tells me I am banned, again.

and this time it looks like I was hacked, I have everything I had before it froze, but my campaign and I was in default mode.

So my 3 questions are:

  1. Why do I keep getting the message even when I play many games in a row and have paid my time each day.
  2. Why did my campaign get reset?
  3. How do I get booted on the first betrayal.

I love Halo, and want to keep playing, but I will have to stop and play another game if this keeps up.

So I ask that you please tell me what I can do, or how you can help me fix this so I can play again and have fun.

  1. The probation lasts 24 hours per quit, after a quit ban, so if you are constantly getting quit banned, it won’t go away for a while.

  2. Common bug, nothing can be done other than replay the Campaign.

  3. That is your fault and only you can prevent that…

Hello I have a crappy internet connection and keep losing signal. For this reason, I am constantly losing connection and it says that I quit the game when in fact I only lost the signal. I have now been banned from earning credits. Please fix this.

Nothing needs to be fixed other than your internet connection, when you lag out, it counts as a quit because you are leaving your team a man down, ruining the experience for them.

Although you actually got a credit ban because you had multiple games with a guest account getting 0 kills.

And here

All it takes is 3 games to trigger the hammer. First time credit bans normally last for 24-48 hrs

One game can trigger the hammer, not three

With a history, yes. But if I have never gone AFK and say my daughter falls and I leave to check her or whatever just for that game, there is no way I’d get banned for that. It wouldn’t make sense. If you look deep enough in someones history for the day there is usually 3 games that cause them to be banned. Even in the original post it says

> • The banhammer is almost always enacted automatically and has been routinely updated over the course of three games for maximum accuracy.

So it builds a case and updates it’s info over the course of 3 games. You seriously can’t believe someone who always has kills has 1 bad game gets zero and is automatically banned. If someone gets banned 9/10 times they have 3 or more games with 0 kills.

“Over the course of three games” means the technology for the ban hammer has been updated since Halo 2 (three games being H2, H3 & Reach), it doesn’t actually say it tracks three games before you get banned, it can always go solely off one game.

Also, the way in which you get banned is done to make it 99.99999% accurate. That means they want a clear, easy to trace PATTERN OF ACTIVITY. That probably means they will want more than 3 games. More like 30 games, unless the activity is particularly egregious, like modding. The moral of the story is you can do naughty stuff all you want, but eventually you’ll get caught and then bad stuff comes to bite you in the butt. And the butthurt is deserved.

There is no way that can be true. I have never had a 0 kill game. There is no way if I have one game with 0 kills i’ll get banned. Again it makes no sense, Anyone that gets banned, look at all the games for that day, you will find at least 3. Obviously there can be 2 games at 7 and 730 the 1 at 10 and yes that one will get you, but a first time AFK person will not get banned after 1 game.

And this is in the Reach forum, why would they boast about the banhammer being update over the course of H2,H3 and Reach. It doesn’t say specifically 3 games you play, but it also doesn’t say the course of 3 Halo games. It makes more sense it updates it’s files on the person after 3 games, how many of those are 0 kill, and all that, and tracks the pattern.

It may not have happened to you or the people you have oversaw in this topic, but it does happen and I’ve seen a few in the past before you came quite active in this topic were either the player or guest, heck sometimes both were AFK for one game and were banned for it.

And like I said if you looked far enough back they probably had more than one game with the same activity. Or there were more than one account on that xbox doing the AFKing in the same games and thats what got them banned. I’m not trying to fight you on it honestly, you’ve talked to the people about alot of the bans. However logically it doesn’t make any sense for someone to just buy Reach play one match, suck cause they are new, and get banned immediately. There is always a history of 0 kills.

No worries, I can see your concern, but I only ever look back to find one game of AFKing activity or X ban reason, if I looked back far enough I would probably find a lot more games but I have seen new players, with only one page for Game History (Anniversary) and they have been banned from ONE zero kill game.

Suppose it all depends really.

Ok, no worries, we’re all on the same team here. lol.

Wait, u said my ban wont be lifted, but the game says its a temp. ban. Or do u just mean my ban wont be lifted by posting on this thread.

I think i got a ban for letting a friend play online as a guest and they got 0 or negative kills in almost every game.

Your ban will not be lifted for posting on this topic.

You were banned for AFKing activity then.

First time bans tend to last 24-48 hours.
