Why Did I Get Banned - The Official Thread

I’ve never received the message after just two…more like 10. She hasn’t ever after two either.

I would also like for you to look at the game I just played on Reflection Slayer…there was waaaay to much lag at very “convenient” times to be a bad connection.

> I would also like for you to look at the game I just played on Reflection Slayer…there was waaaay to much lag at very “convenient” times to be a bad connection.

Nobody will check your games, the ban hammer is automatic, this topic is purely for community members to tell you why you were banned and possibly showing why.

So basically, posting here and trying to get a resolution is just like going to the DMV…nice to know Microsoft thinks so highly of its consumers.

Microsoft don’t control how 343i run their ban hammer operations

Well apparently neither does 343i if they’re not willing to change what Bungie threw together in a hurry.

> Well apparently neither does 343i if they’re not willing to change what Bungie threw together in a hurry.

To be quite honest, I am having a hard time seeing what the issue is…You repeatedly quit out of games because you “don’t like your team mates”. Then your upset because your wife’s GT is also quit banned/probationed?? How about you stop quitting games, just man up and finish the game out. If it’s that big of a deal for your wife to be banned and she yells at you, the sure fire solution is to stop quitting.

Or even better, how about 343i get off their dead level -Yoinks!- and fix what obviously needs an update or are they too concerned with profit instead of customer satisfaction? The problem is that faulty system penalizes people that need not be. My wife has done nothing wrong. I admit to not finishing mine. I’d prefer to have a healthy K/D from playing with people that are on par with my skills instead of being raped repeatedly to teams with 2 high ranking players against myself and a group of low ranking players that have an average K/D of .3 who don’t know the first thing about team play much less cooperation.

I hope to God that Halo 4 has a better randomizer than what Reach has and does away with the “ban hammer” and actually employs someone to do what should be handled a hell of a lot better than what primitively designed by Bungie.

That’s the problem.

You also have to understand the change over from Bungie to 343 just finished in March I believe. This is also a game that is coming up on 2 years old. The ban system isn’t something that was just implemented 2 months ago, these have all been features since the early release.

Yeah it sucks your wife got a 10 min quit ban. Which she’d only be banned again if she quits. So that shouldn’t be an issue. It seems your more annoyed with the message, thats saying she is on probation.

And the pairing system has always sucked, but alot of that is people on the other team being in teams of 2 or 4. It’s easier to work together when you are in a party and able to talk. Most people get muted because of -Yoinks!- in the release of the game saying dumb -Yoink-. So it sucks, but it’s just the way it is. And I have had that same issue in every Halo game. People say dumb things every game, eventually you’ll just mute everyone. And once communication is gone there is no way to have good team work.

I am with you that I hope Halo 4 has a better teaming system, so similar skilled players get put together. I get the same players like you do at times. But I’d rather just play the game, a good k/d means nothing in the real world. If you go to a bar do you tell people what your k/d in Reach is as a bragging point??? Probably not

I get that, which you would think that if Bungie wasn’t too concerned with it, they would be.

It’s not the fact that she gets it, for ex. about a week ago, she was playing a matchmaking game where a 2 person party was on her team, when she refused to take the harassment from them, they immediately start betraying her. For whatever reason the game doesn’t always offer the boot option, so after about 3 times of being betrayed, she quit…it happens a lot to her for some reason, I guess the pairing system. She doesn’t want to be banned even for 10 minutes because she wanted to leave a game like that. She goes through the motions of filing complaints and avoiding and what not but what good does it do?

I try to let them know up front I prefer to work as a team, on some occasions I will luck up with a good game, even if I lose but most of the time, it’s low ranking players or those that love to jew the hell out of people’s kills.

The K/D, helps when I search by skill, usually if my brother is over and we want to play with people on our average level as a whole, it works better if you have 2 or more, from what I’ve experienced. Single person skill matching doesn’t yield much better results than having no filters. You’re right, I don’t brag about it but it does let me know how well of a player I am. Plus it helps cut down on the shittalking from the -Yoink- players. I hate muting people because I fee like I shouldn’t need a reason to have to…I appreciate ya’ll reading my tangential rant.

How can I find out why I am banned from accumulating credits and for how long?

put it in the Why Did I Get Banned: The Official Thread

> How can I find out why I am banned from accumulating credits and for how long?

The account is question was banned due to the guests AFKing activity in this game: TU BTB Slayer on Hemorrhage

First time bans tend to last 24-48 hours.

For more information on bans, please read this: Halo 3 & Halo: Reach Ban Information

The guest is my dad and he likes to camp. If you look more closely at the detailed moves of the player, you will see that he is playing. He is moving and crouching and aiming and shooting. What constitutes AFK? And do you get banned for a single guest game AFK?

The ban hammer goes solely off zero kill games, nothing more, nothing less, if the guest had assist medals or any other sort of stat they wouldn’t be flagged for AFKing, but as far as I can see, you were banned due to the guests AFKing activity.

Yes, you can get banned for a single game of your guest being AFK.

This is META998’s dad. I was indeed playing referenced game. I’m not very good. Are you really banning players whose guests (typically beginners) perform poorly?

There is no way to differentiate a bad player from an AFK player.

The ban hammer has performed this way since Bungie were in control and don’t expect it to change for Halo: Reach.

Yessir, that’s how it’s been since day one on Reach.

Not a very popular choice, but it works.

That’s unfortunate. Even though I’m bad, we enjoy the time playing together. Hopefully, they will change this to detect actual movement of the player and make a distinction between AFK and really bad players.

Thank you for the responses.

> How can I find out why I am banned from accumulating credits and for how long?

You had a guest account with zero kills over some games. The ban system reads this as AFK. Yes, everyone here knows it’s unfair to ban a bad or new player, and no, nobody will review the games to see if the guest was being played. And no, the ban will not be reversed. If it’s a first time ban it’ll last for 24 hours. Second or more offenses range from 48 hrs to 2 weeks.
