Why Did I Get Banned - The Official Thread

> I was banned for a little bit last night due to events that occurred on Monday. My connection dropped out a few times while I my team was in the lead as well as myself having most kills and I was having problems with my screen glitching while I was in matchmaking and while trying to fix my screen, I accidentally brushed up against the very sensitive eject button three times. The next day I was getting the message that I had quit too many games. So since I wasn’t banned I continued to play, because I wasn’t going to do anything near that button again, and figured that the situation of a bad connection where it shows everyone else quitting that I would be okay. Yet, last night while playing TU Slayer DMR’s on Countdown my connection dropped out while I had 11 kills at the time and my team was in the lead. Then I black-screened and everyone quit out and I was still connected to Xbox Live and I was banned. Now I’m afraid to play anymore in case my internet does the same thing. I don’t really know what to do for now, So how long until I’m “in the clear” and don’t have to worry about being banned when my connection drops out?

You should space out your sentences, it’s hard to read a wall of text. But I don’t recall the Xbox eject button being sensitive enough to be opened like such you’d have to be grinding on it or something. How exactly were you trying to fix your screen?

All and all, don’t quit, get disconnected, unplug your xbox or eject the CD for any reason. They don’t care how it happened they’ll ban either way. It’s really not hard to avoid. Depending on the number of times you’ve been banned before it can range anywhere between 10 minutes for a first offense up to 3 weeks. You’ll have to check it yourself.

> You’ll have to check it yourself.

How exactly does one go about doing that? I have been all over the pages and can not find a way to check out how long you are banned for. Would you mind posting a link?

In response the general credit ban lengths seem to be as follows, 1st times are 24 to 48 hours. second and third 1 to 2 weeks. And then 2 to 3 monthes, and after that youll be in running for permanent ban. Quitting bans from personal experience is if you quit 3 or 4 games and or disconnect within a relatively short time, then its a week probation which can extend its self for repeated constant quit/ disconnect. Havent heard of a permanent ban for quitiing only credits modding and hacking. None of this is 100% accurate just what Ive gathered from this entire forum. Where to find official rules and regulations Im unsure perhaps another can answer that.

Log into Reach. If you can’t play you can’t play. There is no visible timer you can find anywhere.

Not quite what I was hoping for but at thanks for keeping me from looking all over the website for something that is not there.

Yeah, the older Xbox wasn’t ever sensitive, but with the new Xbox S the button is like a touch lamp that’s sensitive to heat and touch and it barely takes anything to turn it off or eject the disc.

I use a computer screen and a 360-RGB hookup and it sits on top of my Xbox sometimes it get’s a little loose so the connection isn’t made and I can’t see anything so I’ll have to fix that part. But my arm would brush up against the button and eject the disc.

Yeah, I was wondering how long will the message keep coming up that tells me if I quit again I’ll get banned for a little bit. If that’s still coming up and my connection has the possibility of cutting out, then I don’t want to take that chance. So how long will Halo be on my back about it?

I can play at this point, I just don’t want to risk another “quit.” So now I guess I would wait for 343 to respond and see if they have info on how long they continue to count one quit as grounds for another ban.

when i was playing halo reach a message came out saying that my console and my profile is banned from earning credits for no reason i did not cheated or anything need help!

343 isn’t going to respond to a question like that. Just don’t quit. If you are afraid you will just DC don’t play Matchmaking till you change your ISP.

Betting on afk

if its your first time its only 24 hours… so kinda no biggie.

What is with the surge of being banned threads? Are people really having trouble playing the game right? There is also a sticky on this page OP called; “Why Did I Get Banned: The Official Thread”. You should start posts like that there and not make a new one as it is just clutter.

First off, I would like to say how impressed I am at 343’s initiative and at their website’s helpfulness. I was looking on Bungie’s website and couldn’t find a lick of help. I come here and instantly find what I need. Now, I would like to ask why I got banned. It’s only 24 hrs. I’m quite sure, so I’m not in dire need of assassistance, but I’m not sure why I got banned. I was playing a lot of Fire Fight, using the custom challenges option to make quite a nice little pile of credits. Then I get the dreaded ban message. I’m not sure what I did wrong, because I don’t know what bannable offenses are and haven’t done anything like modding and the likes. Again, I think it’s only 24 hr. so I’m not complaining or anything, I just wish it could’ve shed more light on the reasoning behind the thought process. Also, I was geting very close to completing a 15,000 cR weekly challenge and am a little frustrated by working hard through 163 waves out of the required 200 just to get a ban right before getting it. Oh, and I don’t know if it’s pertainant, but my brother asked if I could sign his profile in while I played Fire Fight so that he could get some extra waves under his belt. I don’t think that I should get banned for this, but it may be the reason, in which case, I will have to politely disagree with the reasoning behind it.

No one gets banned randomly for no reason. You did something wrong either it be afking in Firefight, betraying constantly, quitting, exploiting the system or something of the likes.

I have no idea why I got banned from earnig credits? I feel like there should be some clarification in the process, how are any of us who may have made an unknown mistake supposed to fix that if we aren’t informed

Think about what you were doing before the ban happened.

Were you afking in MM? FF?
Were you betraying people?
Were you quitting games?
Were you using something that might be considered an exploit to earn extra credits?
Were you resetting your challenges?

is there any way i can find out how long the credit ban will last

Read the thread please. There is NO WAY to check the time on bans of any sort. You will have to wait them out.

Why do I have one? And who should I contact about getting it removed? I do not believe I deserve one, as I received it out of the blue
