Why Did I Get Banned - The Official Thread

> i just checked and it didnt go away. the game history shows 0 kills on matches.

I guess it should be gone in 24-hours in that case.
I’ve really never seen this before, try watching the game videos through Temporary History>Films&Clips
Maybe take it up with your cousin
What does the message exactly say?

hes a little kid and didnt know what he was doing and only let him play to keep him busy. didnt know this could happen. first message says this xbox 360 console has been temporarily banned from earning credits. second message says this account has been temporarily banned from earning credits.

It won’t get reversed because you are responsible for your account. A credit ban is for 2 weeks I believe.

BTW the little brother/sister/cousin/dog excuse has been used hundeds of times. Even if it is true the powers that be don’t care.

i see that now. i never knew that before. so you can keep your sarcasm to yourself. i asked for help not sarcasm

It wasn’t sarcasm just the truth. Spend any amount of time on the bungie forums (and probably here) and you’ll see how many times people will blame their little brother for them going AFK.

my account on Reach was banned for 2 weeks from earning credits and it didnt tell me why so if you could tell me why thatd be great
BTW my gamertag is Secluded Terror

> It wasn’t sarcasm

It was sarcasm, fyi…

i love reach and 85% of the time im the top player and for them to ban me with not even a warning is bs. and when you have a 4 year old nephew chances are hes not going to do real well. but to punish with no warning for up to 2 weeks, really? just a group of people who hate and wish they were better at games

OP, your KD is .85 or something. I’m thinking your not the top player most of the time, lol. However the brother/cousin/dog excuse has been overused around these parts. Maybe you should log off if it really was someone else. Either way, your argument is invalid. Sorry.

Ok.

OP, If you love Reach so much (I don’t understand it but whatever) then it really should matter if you are credit banned…just play the game for fun.

It will go away in 24 hours if its your first time. If its your second time it will be 2 weeks.

I bet if there were no credits in this game, it would be dead lol. Just play the game…

I don’t believe i did anything wrong.
I was playing firefight in Matchmaking but I continuously had to leave the room in order to do other things yet I never Left the game in fear of being banned. Yet after I got back from running a quick errand for my mother I come back to find that I have been banned from earning credits. I am very confused on what caused a repercussion of this manner.

This is why you were banned. AFKing in Firefight has been a bannable offense for quite some time now. If you have other things that come up, just leave the game don’t sit around because you’re not going to end up helping anyone in the end anyways.

Ok here is a question and this seemed to be the best place to ask it. Ok so I hear alot about resetting daily and weekly challenges like for instance shootin and lootin playing to 149 in firefight, then resetting it back to 1 left and repeating, now Ive heard that once is ok and unpunishable but others say that they constantly repeat this like in offline custom firefight since you dont have to be online nor burdening anybody. Basiclly I just want to know in advance before possibly breaking rules. And since there is mixed input to this and being as ive recently read all of this forum all 170 or so pages and 3800+ posts I have not seen a posts on this or bans pertaining to it.

Thanks,

Correction sorry 3500+ posts

Correction 2 you are online but you are playing alone and not effecting anybody.

First off resetting any challenges is bannable. It may not seem like you are being watched when you do it but you are. Second thing is all Challenges are ONLINE ONLY. You cannot do them offline and they only work in Campaign, Firefight Matchmaking and normal Matchmaking. It is true you won’t get banned for the first offense because it is possible to do it by accident. Multiple times is when it gets suspicious.

Thank you, thats all I wanted to hear, my suspicion is confirmed I just get tired of people saying they do it alot and stuff.

I got banned for the first time yesterday and after reading this thread, well a large chunk of it at least, I understand why I got it. Not arguing about it but, I do have a question. When does the ban start?

The reason for the question is that I was on logged off and didn’t see the ban until this morning. So is the ban from when I logged back in or is it from when the ban-able offense occurred?

Also a suggestion: You have a warning that posts underneath the “Waiting for Players” box that says that quitting early will get you on probation and banned could you put one on there about getting banned for AFKing as well?

I was banned for a little bit last night due to events that occurred on Monday. My connection dropped out a few times while I my team was in the lead as well as myself having most kills and I was having problems with my screen glitching while I was in matchmaking and while trying to fix my screen, I accidentally brushed up against the very sensitive eject button three times. The next day I was getting the message that I had quit too many games. So since I wasn’t banned I continued to play, because I wasn’t going to do anything near that button again, and figured that the situation of a bad connection where it shows everyone else quitting that I would be okay. Yet, last night while playing TU Slayer DMR’s on Countdown my connection dropped out while I had 11 kills at the time and my team was in the lead. Then I black-screened and everyone quit out and I was still connected to Xbox Live and I was banned. Now I’m afraid to play anymore in case my internet does the same thing. I don’t really know what to do for now, So how long until I’m “in the clear” and don’t have to worry about being banned when my connection drops out?
