Why Did I Get Banned - The Official Thread

last night i got a message on my screen saying that i was banned from earning cr, but im still not earning any? and when i signed in this morning i still get a message saying i was banned how long will it last and can i do anything about it

Wait it out and stop leaving your controller idle (AFK). That’s how you get credit bans for not playing the game.

If it’s your younger relatives playing on guests and they go afk, it counts the same as you not playing (even if you are on your main account).

OR

You reach the credit limit and can no longer earn credits until the next day. You’ll just have to wait this one out as well but this doesn’t mean you are banned. It should tell you, “Credit Limit Reached”.

> i want to know y i was banned because i love to play the game fair and have never cheated in the game.

You know we can look up your game history. I saw several of your games where you went 0 with no points or kills. Also, low kill spreads in Firefight Arcade suggest you AFK’d there as well. 5+ really? It’s not that hard to get kills in Arcade.

That’s why you got banned. For leaving your controller idle for too long. Play the game or get used to being banned. That’s how it works.

Get a few kills here and there and moving a little every five minutes to bypass the banhammer is not the same as playing the game.

Quitting out of matches excessively gets you banned as well. Try not quit so much or your playing experience is going to suffer.

it says This xbox 360 console has been temporarily banned form earning credits
then it says the same thing but account instead of console
how long will it last it happen last night at like 8:00 thank you for your help
only wish it will tell me why

If it’s your first offense, it should be a bout a day or so. Do it again and it’s a week. It just keeps adding on time the more you do it really.

No problem, and sorry if i came off as a little bit rude.

do you know if it was because of lack of play or something thank you

Playing Yesterday, got credit banned today want to know why.

Edit: since this is apparently the only way to contact Halo: Reach “tech support” an answer would be appreciated

> do you know if it was because of lack of play or something thank you

You were AFK. Or a guest you were playing with was AFK. Or you suck and got 0 kills in a game, which counts as an AFK mark against you.

Those are the only ways I know of getting credit banned.

> What did I do exactly to get banned? I can honestly say I do not mod, team kill, kill -Yoink!- (excuse the language) or any of that stuff. I just see this as unfair if somebody thought it was funny to report me as a joke

You may not do any of that stuff, but your game history shows a few AFK games (which counts as boosting)

Arcadefight on Outpost
Nadefight on Overlook
Another one.

If it’s your first ban, you’ll be earning credits again in 24-48 hours.

I did a bit of digging in your recent game history, but couldn’t see anything obvious on there.

But i do have a few possibilities for you (i’m not saying you did any of these things, they’re just reasons i know of that result in bans).

Did you reset your daily/weekly challenges?
Had a guest account signed in but no one playing? (AFKing)
Had a guest playing that got multiple 0 kill games? (ban system reads this as AFK)

If it’s your first time ban, it should only be 24-28 hours

so the guy sitting next to me is a crappy player and I get banned? didn’t know you could get banned for sucking at a game. <sarcasm> Thanks Halo: Reach That’s good information to have. <sarcasm>

Never did get a reply on either question two pages back.

not surprised. there doesn’t seem to be much support here. They (whatever passes for tech support) will ban you quick as hell, but won’t bother telling you why. What they seem to have forgotten, in their time as little tin gods of Halo, is that we are not here for them, they are here for us.

edit for spelling

You stated, (If you get banned, there is a 99.9999% chance your deserved it) There is that 00.0001% chance you did NOT deserve it. As in my case. Playing on Asphalt, went to black screen 20 seconds into the game. Next screen was “Game Over”. No, I did not leave the game.

Next game, I was intentionally betrayed on two occasions by the same person. I did not have the option to boot, so I betrayed them. I was booted.

Next game, Asphalt. Less than a minute into the game, black screen. 2 minutes in black screen, then “Game Over”. Servers knocked me out. I was banned for 15 minutes.

There is your 00.0001%. (Checked my connection, no problems. I have wired high speed cable and nothing else hooked to it) And by the way, I was playing with friends and the same happened to them in the same games on Asphalt.

Now for the really interesting games. Started playing big team. Games started and 4 seconds later, black screen. Black screen lasted about 15 seconds. Low and behold, when the game continued, the opposite team had scored 16 points while everyone was at black screen. Yes, everyone on our team was in black screen. This is happening more and more especially in big team battle. Glitch or Tampering? Either way, if it continues, then K/D means nothing anymore.

And one more question. Why aren’t gamer tags with condescending or blatant racial discrimination being removed or banned? Does Microsoft condone racists now?

i got console banned a few weeks ago. for what reason i clearly do not know. i never modded or cheated the system, what gives???

Obviously you get banned for zero kills even if it’s your first few games of halo, as was my case. You’ld like to think they would see I’ve only played 10 games of rumble pit before i got banned and have now started to get a few kills. after reading these posts it seems I will get banned for longer next time I fail to get any kills. Does any one know how many times that i get no kills before i will get banned?

why was I credit banned I have never done anything wrong

Hi I have no idea if this is the correct place but i havent been completely banned just banned for quitting can someone point me to a place i can discuss getting banned for quitting please. sorry guys

I played Halo for about 2 hours on this date, and then a friend wanted to join so we could all play together with his other friend online. We were unsure how to log him in as a guest until we were instructed how to do this by his online friend. Prior to that we had made several attempts to log him in as a quest. We were then able to be online and started playing the game. However, after playing almost 2 hours, sudddenly a message came on and said that I was banned from eaning credits, but that I could still play the game.

I do not know why I was banned. This is the second time I was banned, without knowing why. I was going to inquire as to why I was banned the first time it happened, but since it was only for 24 hours I ignored it. I would like to know why I have been banned. Since it is important for people to understand why they are banned so they could learn what may have been wrong, would you please email people when they are banned to inform them why they were banned or had some other type of problem regarding their gamimg. Thank you.

I would also like to add that before this happened, there was some sort of bad connection on either our friends or our internet or the server. This also happpened before for awhile, the first time I got banned. I really would like to know the reason why I got banned. Also, my friend and I were simply having fun as he never gets to play with his friend on xbox. If there is a problem with my connection, or ISP, I would like to know so I can correct the problem, but I really need to know why I was banned to be able to take any form of action. Our friend left us in the lobby while trying to reconnect for awhile, but we only wanted to play with him in a game so we waited.

Ok so that makes sense, I didnt know I could get banned for being AFK. I dont see how its boosting though, are people really that petty to report me for that? Maybe I got distracted or something and had to stop playing, jeez

I agree, 343i or whoever should email us so we know why we got banned so we dont do it again. But some of the reasons why we get banned are rediculous, like getting 0 kills WTF?!
