I’m NOT banned from playing, I’m banned from earning credits. We’ve been playing the way we always do, and only now you have issues? What the heck for?!

No, even xbox support indicates that this is just for game banning. I’m NOT game banned, I can still log in and play, I’m just banned from earning credits. Why!!?? Even xbox support doesn’t know why!
I’ll tell you rite now it was probably for afking in firefight or matchmaking or getting zero kills in matchmaking.

What the heck!? You guys can move my topics around the Forums, but you won’t answer me??!! I can’t believe this!! Tell us why you are banning us from getting credits!? Where are the banning credits guidelines listed? Give us SOME reason why you’ve done this so we’ll know what stupid crud you guys are banning us for!!?? Get it together and answer!

A look into your game history shows you were AFK in several Firefight games, which is grounds for a credit ban.
Credit bans aren’t handed out manually.
Actually, it was my neighbor friend, who has never played before, and was trying to learn the game by watching me, and trying not to die. Being a complete Nube, I’m not surprised that he didn’t get any kills, but I’ve NEVER been in a match where I was away from the keyboard! So he’s terrible at the game, and hid, so he could watch me, so what!?!?! I’m being penalized now because he didn’t kill anything?!?!? What bull!! This is totally wrong!!!

Reach can’t detect AFKing directly; Bungie never expected people would behave as badly as they have been, and 343i doesn’t have the time or spare staff to add AFK detection themselves. This means that the only way to detect whether or not someone is AFKing is to guess at it, by having the ban system read post-game stats and seeing if a player (or their guest) has earned 0 kills in several recent Slayer or Firefight matches. As you’ve found out, this improvised solution is prone to false positives.
It’s unfortunate. There is a way to avoid it in the future: let your neighbor practice offline, where neither credits nor (behavior that looks like) AFKing are issues. I wish I had something better I could tell you. :\

This is TOTALLY UNCOOL!!! Now my buddy is even more shy about playing. And what fun is playing off-line when all the fun is online playing with others?!?!?! How long is this “Credit Ban” going to last anyway? I’ve been waiting two weeks to have a friggin day off to play, and on my one day I get to play, they pull this crap! I’ve spent a LOT of money (as we all have) and time working on my characters, to have this happen on today, of all days, is unforgivable, false positive or no! Who do I contact to fix this issue?? Does 343 think THIS is the way to support PAYING customers? At least have a live-chat support section in the forums for us to get help with issues that xbox can’t deal with. NOT the way you treat the people that pay your salaries 343!!! Really BAD company policy, really BAD way to treat your customers, and really BAD form 343!!! Bad 343, BAd!!! No Doggie cookies for you today!!!
I was recently banned for two weeks from xbox live and couldnt sign in until 4/21/2012 and today I was banned again for no damn reason. I literally never ever cheat and yet i get banned for another two weeks. Please give me a good damn reason why I got banned.

And where was this “Rule” when I fell asleep playing matchmaking and I got spawn-killed all night, screwing up my KD ratio?? They didn’t have any problems with no score, and no movement then!! Total double standard, and totally crappy that someone’s’ Nube-performance gets judged. I should be able to play as crappy as I want, given all the money I’ve spent on this game, without consequence!!! Rethink this one, 343, it’s a Bad idea, and frankly, doesn’t really do anything to fix anything as it’s pretty much a non-existent issue anyway. What do you hope to “Fix” by doing this crap anyway? What abuse could be so bad that you would do this to the lowest performers in the game??? Just plain STOO-PID!!! Unlock my Friggin Account!!! I did nothing wrong!!! Get up off your butts and do something for a change, rather than sitting around judging people’s performance. Do Something for once guys!!!

Clearly, as I’m NOT banned from xbox Live and I’ve talked with support over there, I’ve done NOTHING wrong except have a crappy score with low movement! that’s NOT part of the “policing” you think you have to do there 343!!! Fix this “False-Positive” NOW!!! I won’t have another day off to play like this for a long time dang-it!!! Wake up and DO something right for once!!!

Oh, and by-the-way… Why don’t you guys POST these friggin rules somewhere we we can READ them so we know what we’ll get messed with by you for!!! If they’re NOT posted, they SHOULDN’T be in power over the Halo community!!! So far, no one has been able to give me a straight answer as to why I was Credit-Banned!!! With NO rules posted, how is anyone supposed to know this crap!!! I would have grabbed his controller from my neighbor and gotten a few kills if I’d known you’d be judging my performance!!! I am not questioning the ban, just want to find out how long it is for and have no idea where to look for it, since when the notice comes up it just says “this account temporarily banned” without any other info.

Frankly, if 343 doesn’t list the reasons why, or indicate how long the ban is for, it is “Breech of Contract” and legally, can be held accountable for every hour for every client they have banned in this way. I feel a class-action suit coming on if the reasons aren’t listed in a prominent place, or the ban length communicated to the user. This is a clear breach of contract, and you could be ordered by the courts to pay restitution to everyone for every hour you have banned, because we are PAYING for the service you provide. That’s a binding contract, and claiming “false-positives” won’t get you out of a court judgement. We are PAYING to play, and you are in breech of providing this service to us. I would get up off my butt and list the violation protocols immediately, and contact everyone who is presently banned and let them know how long it will be, or frankly, you will be in clear breech of contract with the Halo community. Read your own Terms and Conditions. You provide a service, we PAY for, and are required to perform (at least to the minimum set of standards) this service if you receive money from us. Get it together and clear this all up right away, or there WILL be class action suits filed by those with more clout and anger than lil old me. Wise up!!

I know it sucks but they have not banned you from playing the game, just earning credits, so you can still play on your day off. If you really like the game then credits shouldnt be an issue.
I wont go into your legal rant and threats above suffice to say that it is actually Microsoft that provide you with the " XBL service" and not 343i. Bungie/343i grant you a license to use their software and if you read that license they also reserve the right to refuse you use of that software whenever they like. That is a standard T&C in every End User License Agreement in every software title you buy including Windows.
Okay this isn’t for me, this is for my friend. We were all trying to play btb when the weekend jackpot thing was going on, she had a friend over and when we would load up the match, they were sent to a lobby with only them in it, we thought nothing of it and then we tried again, same thing happened. She got a message saying she has quit too many game recently blah blah blah, now this is still popping up on her screen today… Shouldn’t that go away in like a day? She is too scared to try and play with us for fear of a ban. Any thoughts on this? Thanks in advance guys

Probations last usually 24-48 hours as long as you don’t hit the quit ban during that time.

If it has been over 48 hours since your ban, it is likely a 1-2 week ban.
