Why Did I Get Banned - The Official Thread

> Well I’ve been all over the net the past hour. First I went to bungie.net to get some help, then bungie lead me to support.xbox.com/, where I met David K. A representative that helped me get here, I was banned about 4 days ago and it was completely just, I’m not here to rant about how it was unfair or cruel, because it was fair, and I’m not here to try to claim that I have “learned my lesson”. I am here to try and get some help on this question. Me and 3 of my friends boosted, probably 3-4 grifball games, but that is a lot. So no doubt I knew we were going to be banned, it was just a matter of time. However, all 3 of them were unbanned at about 20-40 hours after the initial notice of the ban, mine however wasn’t, and I think I know why. About a year ago I was banned for passing the “cR cap”, a cap that stops a player from earning credits after they passed it. However, the cap a year ago was only at 60k credits, and being the teenager that I was, I played and played and played to promote with all my friends, Not even knowing about a cR cap. So I guess what I’m trying to say is, when will my account be unbanned, if ever, because I think that the ban from a year ago is a little outdated, and an insufficient variable on the period of this current ban. Thanks a lot. -iWreckPete

Your friends will have only just received their first bans after boosting in Grifball, however, considering this was your second ban, it will be longer by default.

I believe second time bans last 1-2 weeks, while your friends will only have to wait 24-48 hours for it.

> I haven’t quit a game for at least 2 days yet I keep having “You are banned from playing because of quitting” messages when I start up Reach. I just played 3 FF doubles games fully and decided to try anniversary and the stupid system says I’m banned. If I was quitting games I would understand, but I’m not. Is my Halo account name corrupted or something? If a tech guru could check my Halo record account and explain what’s going on it would help.
> Thanks

You are saying every time you start up Reach, you are automatically quit banned from Matchmaking without even starting a game?

> I haven’t do anything what is showing on bungie.net/ban, but yesterday night i get a message on my xbox 360, that i got banned for one week until
> the 16th of april. I played normally Halo 3 with my friend and won a lot of games but how i said. We search normally in matchmaking Team Slayer. I think 10 games an we only lost 1 game. Before this I played lonely Team Snipersnand i loose all games, because I getting bad Teammates but this is normally and no problem. So I can’t understand why I get banned from matchmaking and why also my console is banning too.
> I hope you can help me.

You would be better off sending a private message to Total Sellout due to the fact this topic is purely run by the community and we can’t check Halo 3 stats any more.

> hello my son was playing halo yesterday and he was playing the game fair and he played firefight for along time and i was there then played multiplayer matchmaking and then the next day i was sitting next to him he turned on his xbox and it said that he got credit ban for 2 weeks and he didn’t do anything he just played the game fair and he got banned can anyone help he played fair no cheats or glitches please help

I can’t seem to find anything wrong in his game history that would result in a two week ban.

Although can I ask you to check this page: Ban Info and reply honestly if your son has done anything there.

Also, can you ask him if he has used Custom Challenges in the past.

no my son did not do any of the stuff on the ban info

no my son did not do custom challenges and he did nothing in the ban info page

> no my son did not do custom challenges and he did nothing in the ban info page

Okay, try giving Total Sellout a PM, as long as you are 100% sure the ban is unjust, he may be able to help you out, however, if you are lying, it may be extended.

ok i will pm him

Looked at your profile and I have one question. Were you credit banned? Or did you get the Famous: “Credit Cap” They both you Cannot get any more credits for X amount of time, but one is “annoying” the other is stop under handed tactics.

After looking at your profile it doesn’t appear that you got the infamous Credit Reset so yeah that’s good news.

my son got credit banned

> my son got credit banned

Well, then chances are you who ever was using the Account did something to provoke the banhammer. It may have been you, your son or someone else, but regardless of who did it…

The Account Owner is fully responsible for anything said/done/created on said account and any guests account of said account.

Parent (Main Account/Owner) is responsible for anything said/done/created on it as well as children (Guest Accounts/other people)

i found 2 games where his son had zero kills and a game where his son only got 1 kill in his history but inbetween he was able to get multiple kills it looked like he was activly playing the games however the banhammer saw the kills an got him for afk when he went up against better players the system isnt perfect its got flaws if you bring someone in as a guest or let them sing in on your console an they dont play well enough , thay may get banned my suggestion set up a custom game and let them practice first other than that send an email to wehelp@microsoft.com to complain about the ban system they are microsoft corperait an will investigate the issue thuroughly and contact 343 if the ban is unjust they can get it reversed

> > > My girlfriend (zizzo15) and I were playing some casual sniper games this evening and within the last couple of kills before the game ended we both received a message saying our credits were permanently banned. After the game was over and we got back to the lobby, another two messages popped up: one saying that the XBOX was temporarily banned from earning credits, and that our accounts were banned from earning them. To determine if it was legit or not, we played a game and neither of us gained credits. I am unsure as to why this as happened, as I do not believe we were in the wrong for anything (correct me if the otherwise is true). Any help would be appreciated, thanks

> The problem is that she wasn’t AFK in the game, though. She was right next to me and was playing the entire time. I also don’t know why F4NT4ST1C4 received the ban. The message of account and XBOX bans came up twice, indicating that it was both.

I also checked the link that I now realized was a link. She wasn’t AFK at all in that game. The game setup was against people who were better. I was unable to kill them all that often, and as she is new to the game was completely unable to get any kills. (She still has a hard time coordinating the left and right joysticks at the same time, let alone being able to keep the reticule properly aimed at a person or persons’ head)

Edit: I could have left when I knew defeat was inevitable, but I prefer to play games out and not suffer credit penalties for just leaving a game.

Ok, so I’m playing Halo:Reach, right? Every time, literally every time, when I play Halo a screen message pops up saying: ‘players have quit too many games recently’ or something and I played like 20 games without quitting and it keeps popping up. I tried to make it go away by quitting a game, but it keeps coming, now every time I quit a game or accidentally betray someone I have to wait 15 minutes.
Did this happen to somebody? And did you fixed it? I appreciate the help, thanks in advance.

Best thing to do would be to stop quitting period. It will go away over time as long as you stop quitting.

this happened to me a couple times although I never quite the pop up keep appearing everytime I started playing Reach. After 2 days of not playing it still popped up. it eventually goes away. If you don’t quite then you have worries. nothing to worry about.

Today I was playing Halo: Reach with my friend (he was on a guest account) and we were playing Team Doubles, and there was a Nova and an Eclipse in the game and I’m not gonna lie, he’s not the best at Halo: Reach. When he see’s their KD (71,000 kills and 43,000 deaths and 86,000 kills and 34,000 deaths, which is a close estimate) he dashboards n the pre-game lobby. And when I’m unbanned from going into matchmaking, something similar happens, a Noble and a Forerunner or Reclaimer (forgot which one) were on the other team with really high, boosted looking KDs. We’re on the Red team on Uncaged and as he gets the gets the grenade launcher he gets fragged off the edge of the map by the Blue team, and this time I guess he signs out and I thought the other team quit because it said we had won. So I back out and notice I’m banned temporarily banned and I get kind of mad I’ll admit. So then I decide I’m done playing with him, and make use of my time being banned, I go into campaign and do the commendation boost for “Nice Arm”, while my grenade kills me, and go outside for about 20 minutes and play catch. When I get back I go upstairs to play some matchmaking and on my screen it says “THIS CONSOLE HAS BEEN BANNED FROM PLAYING MATCHMAKING FOR ONE WEEK.”, “YOU HAVE LEFT TOO MANY MATCHMAKING GAMES AND IF YOU LEAVE AGAIN YOU WILL BE TEMORARILY BANNED.”, and “THIS ACCOUNT HAS BANNED FROM PLAYING MATCHMAKING FOR ONE WEEK.” Is this necessary for leaving too many games? This has never happened before. NOTE: I ONLY STATE EVERY DETAIL TO CLEARLY STATE WHAT HAPPENED.

Alright, thanks!

Can you please give me information about gamertag jasonkiller50 and why I was banned from Halo Reach? I was playing my game a couple of months ago and while playing it said “temporarily banned from earning credits” I didn’t do anything wrong but didn’t know what to do so I waited out the suspension and a few weeks later was able to play again. After 2 days it said the same thing again and I still didn’t know why. I just started to play my game again last night and it happen again within a few hours. I called xbox live customer service and they said for me to post a help post to this website. Can you please help me and look into this problem, I think there may be a glitch.
Thank you

At any point am I going to get a response for the unjust bans?

I was playing halo reach and then i had to go have dinner and i didn’t want to get a 10 minute ban so i stayed in the game and then i came back and started playing again but i got a call on Skype and didn’t want to get a 10 minute ban so stayed in the game and after that game a message popped up saying id been temporarily banned. All i would like to know is how long this is for and will my rank and armor be reset.
Any help would be much appreciated Thanks

how long would be a ban for boosting, or being afc for too long

XD thnx
