Why Did I Get Banned - The Official Thread

I made him let his -Yoink!- brother (who can’t play well) play with him as a guest. And I also made him go clean his room so he had to quit out of a game.

Apologies for the late reply, it seems in this game (Game, Swat Trent’s guest was AFK.

First time offences tend to last 24-48 hours.

> my brother was using my gamertag

I can’t find anything wrong in your game history that would have gotten you banned, maybe someone else can help you out.

Thanks moa, so if I read the thread right this quit probation will last a few days then? As long as I don’t quit it will go away right?

> Thanks moa, so if I read the thread right this quit probation will last a few days then? As long as I don’t quit it will go away right?

You are only on a quit probation?

Oh!

Then yes, it should go away after roughly 24-48 hours without any more quits, so try to avoid it, the more quits while on probation, the longer it will stay.

However, if you get a credit ban, it is related entirely to that guest being AFK.

Bans are rarely removed unless there was a mass mistake on 343i’s end which has occurred twice.

Don’t expect it to be removed, there isn’t anyone you can contact.

Jugement92, I noticed on the 27th that there were 4 consecutive games that had 0 kills. Brother playing, or just leaving for the store, it looks like AFK. I’ve never heard of a ban taking that long to catch up, but Moa has said it can take a bit to catch up at times. Thats the only reason I can see for your ban.

No, Call of Duty will kick you if you don’t do anything (almost at any point)
My meaning was in the matchmaking start when it shows all the people playing before or after a game, if you don’t move or something for a period of time, it will bring you to your own lobby; thus no one can “idle” and get exp or cr for not doing anything in a game.

I paid for the game, I pay for my gold and I don’t like the way you answered that. “It’s still against the rules” What the -Yoink- kinda answer is that?

IF YOU LOSE YOUR DEBIT CARD AND THEN SOMEONE BUYS A WHOLE whole bunch OF JUNK ON IT, CHANCES ARE; YOUR BANK WILL GET THAT MONEY BACK.

For you to just basically say “I don’t care about your issue because you were already warned”; even knowing that I am the consumer. -Yoink- that.

Allow me to say this; I wont be on this forum. You’re lucky I like Reach, 3, ODST, 2 and 1. I will NOT be buying anything else Halo or 343i.

-Yoinks!-.

I recently got banned on halo reach permanently on my console and my account, i sincerely regret boosting and past is something i will regret :frowning: is there any way i can lift the console ban to atleast play on my brothers account? halo is the only game we play and we cannot afford another xbox

Nope. =/

A permanent ban comes after 4-5 previous bans, you had plenty of chances…

Here is the thing. This isn’t call of duty. It’s Halo, different games, different systems. This thread isn’t meant to discuss how to make the banhammer better. I’m almost positive a search will find you a thread or two about suggestions to make the banhammer or the game itself better.

> I paid for the game, I pay for my gold and I don’t like the way you answered that. “It’s still against the rules” What the -Yoink!- kinda answer is that?

I paid for all of that same stuff, and when I go into a game I expect all of my team to be playing. Even if they only get 1 or 2 kills. A moving player is harder to kill than an idle player. And Moa isn’t a 343 employee… He’s just giving it to you straight, like the answers or not, its usually the way it is.

> IF YOU LOSE YOUR DEBIT CARD AND THEN SOMEONE BUYS A WHOLE whole bunch OF JUNK ON IT, CHANCES ARE; YOUR BANK WILL GET THAT MONEY BACK.

That isn’t true at all. Your bank gives you the money as a curtousey, and because it is much easier for a bank to pursue legal action against the criminal than a normal person. Usually for small amounts, they give your money back, take the loss, and write it off on their taxes as a buisness loss. A normal person can’t do that.

> For you to just basically say “I don’t care about your issue because you were already warned”; even knowing that I am the consumer. -Yoink!- that.

Yeah again, myself, Moa, and all the other members that give answers in this thread are all consumers as well. It isn’t fair to the majority that play the game correctly that there is a minority that can’t seem to follow the rules, and make the game terrible for everyone.

> Allow me to say this; I wont be on this forum. You’re lucky I like Reach, 3, ODST, 2 and 1. I will NOT be buying anything else Halo or 343i.

There is an old saying I like to go by. Don’t talk about it, be about it. Plus I have a fresh $50 bill that says after Halo4’s release I’ll check your stats online and you’ll have stats for it.

Honestly, just relax, it’s a ban, from credits. Unless you modded or some other crap. Credits are meaningless, they don’t stop you from playin the game. So why is it such a big deal? Just take your lumps, learn from it and move on.

Exactly. To get perma-banned, you would have to have gotten banned a couple of times already. If you can’t learn from that, then too bad for you. Next time, learn to play without cheating. Now you can see how cheating can hurt others(your brother) as you can’t play Halo online anymore.

I had been stopped from MM for 10mins because of constant disconnect, only happened once, is that considered a ban as well?

> I had been stopped from MM for 10mins because of constant disconnect, only happened once, is that considered a ban as well?

No that’s a “quit ban”. 15 minutes and you can re-enter MM.

There is no way to reverse this, sorry buddy, perhaps you can trade it in and save up a few bucks to buy another one, thats the best I got.

Welcome to Waypoint, I wish it was under better circumstances =/

I was playing Halo earlier, I went AFK for like 15 minutes and when I get back my friends are boosting for challenges, and then I got banned from earning credits because of them, and I know I should have left the game but please reply… How long does the temp ban last? The message read ‘This console has temp ban from earning credits’ please reply!

Also, I went and checked my recent game history and apparently I had been boosting, and my brother has owned up to that, he was boosting for me, he said he was helping me but all he did was get me banned!!! Please remove this ban of earning credits! :frowning:

Just one other thing and a reason I thinkk the ban should be removed. I haven’t done anything and I could give you the gamertags of the people who were boosting while I was AFK!

> Just one other thing and a reason I thinkk the ban should be removed. I haven’t done anything and I could give you the gamertags of the people who were boosting while I was AFK!

You said your brother was boosting for you. Which if I understand that right, means he was using your GT to boost for you. YOU are responsible for your own GT. If someone in your house goes on to your GT and does something wrong. It’s your responsibility.

It won’t be reversed. First time bans are normally 24-48 hrs. After the first time they range from 1-2 weeks.

>

Well you pretty much summed it up yourself, you were banned for AFKing, not because of your friends boosting.

Although, just to quote something from the first post:

> I shouldn’t be banned. My brother/sister/cousin/dad/mom/friend must’ve logged on with my account and done bad things. Will you please reverse my ban?
>
> If this is indeed the case, we do understand your frustration. However, it is your sole responsibility to keep your account information secure and not share it with others who would abuse it. We have no way of detecting who is playing with your account, and if your gamertag is caught making naughty, you will be banned. Those are the rules.

Your ban will not be lifted, first time offences tend to last 24-48 hours.

What is a temperary ban from earning credits and how long is it enforced before being lifted? I understand what temperary is, just need more info. Thank you
