Why Did I Get Banned - The Official Thread

I play with my family all the time, because I’m not one of these lifeless people who protect their gamertag from any tarnish and act as if Halo:Reach means something in real life. My account also got banned because my wife and son (who’s 5) often get zero kills. If you suck, you get banned it seems, and it seems. Really fair system. Why do you get banned anyways for AFK? It isn’t the Super Bowl. Who cares if you put the dumb remote down and teammates lose?

> > I was just playing halo and i got banned for a unknown reason? I didn betray anyone or leave anygames i was playing with my girlfriend and two cuzins who are all horrible at halo. I know my GF went to the batheroom for no more than 2 minutes can that be the problem or because my two cuzins got 0zero kills a couple of times playing? Can this please be looked at im 50,000 credits away from being a general. I got the first strike in the game and i died then it popped up saying this account and xbox has temporaily been banned from earning credits?mabye this should be looked at. I understand people cheat and they should get banned but I can’t be the only one who’s played with family members who are just terrible at video games?

The ban hammer tracks AFK players but how many deaths they get in a game with zero kills, if you have at least three games with zero kills and a lot of deaths, you are flagged for a ban.

I prefer it like that than no AFK ban system at all.

My son and wife had at least 6 games in the last day with zero Kills and a ton of deaths. I guess I’ll tell them they aren’t allowed to play because they suck to bad.

> That’s why. If your guests get 0 kills, the game thinks you’re boosting.

So i can’t let my wife or son play because they almost always get zero. I had to look up the definition of boosting.

Who cares if you get fake achievements, credits, or ranks. It is fake, it is a video game! Why can’t others who aren’t gamers have fun too. Our account got banned today. I guess I’ll tell my family they aren’t allowed to play because they suck, or because someone is worried about cheaters on a game that means crap. It isn’t the army.

This sentence is my issue with alot of people who post in this thread. Your right, Reach play means NOTHING in real life (unless your an MLG player). And it isn’t the super bowl. That being said, they are GAME credits that you get banned from, not playing. If you aren’t worried about the game, then why make a big deal out of not being able to get credits? Either you really don’t care and you misunderstood the ban, or you do care about the game, and it means more to you than you are letting on.

And there are custom games, and ofline matchmaking, if your 5 year old, and your wife are that bad then you should probably play some of those until they get better.

How do you do custom games and offline matchmaking with an Xbox slim? I’m not buying a harddrive. Everyone likes online play with other friends. I don’t care about credits. It’s the fact that you get banned at all from an account you pay for.

I believe I have been unjustly banned because i was in a game of Halo: Reach and i had to go for my tea, but I did not want to get banned for leaving the game, so I left my xbox on, and when I got back, it said I had been temporarily banned from earning credits. I would like you to un ban me please.

You should have quit the game, the quit ban is only 10 minutes long, other ban can last from 24-48 hours or up to 2 weeks at first.

Your ban will not be lifted, you admitted to AFKing.

Sadly, this is how it is going to have to pan out, just to say, your son is only 5, you can’t expect him to be amazing at the game at that age, let along play it, keep them in Firefight, Custom Games, Forge & Campaign until they can hold their own in Matchmaking.

He finds the other games boring. He likes MM and talking on the mic. His high is 16 and he averages 5, but gets 0 often, especially when he is limited to precision weapons. My wife is actually the one who decided to play for the first time and got 0 alot.

The only reason most people play Halo is for MM.

And for anyone reading this and calling me a bad parent for letting him play…Really? Like power rangers and ninja turtles were/are just all about peace. And if you think those are too much then I’m glad you weren’t my parents.

Nobody called you a bad parent, but letting a five year old play a game rated Mature and letting him play online is just silly.

Why? He often outscores other players and there are more curse words in PG movies these days (we do mute players that continually cuss), and just as much suggested violence in power rangers. Every boy has fake guns and play fights. He knows what is right and wrong.

He or I don’t play COD. Now that is graphic.

The main reason I am saying this is to avoid future bans which are inevitable is he has constant zero kill games.

If this is my first ban, how long will it last

24-48 hours.

I wish you all would get rid of the 10 minute ban. People dont pay 60 dollars for the game, and then somewhere around 20 dollars a month for xbox live, to get ban for quitting games. I paid for the thing, i can quit if i want. And if you all would just put a Slayer DMR’s playlist up, no one would even quit anymore. It’s ridiculous, and very annoying.

You get quit banned for handicapping your team, a quit ban in Score Attack or FFA playlists is pointless, but for team playlists, it is a must.

How long does a second ban last? I first got banned for putting my remote down to take care of something, and now this one for my wife and son getting 0’s.

Where are all the stupid rules for this crap?

Had my cousin’s 7-year-old and 11-year-old over last night and we were playing BTB. They played a majority of the games and I just jumped in every once in a while. They were playing under my GT and as ‘Guest’. I NEVER have people over so I’m unfamiliar with how challenges react to having a guest in the party, but I noticed that for the 14 precision weapon kills in a game achievement, the total would be tallied up at the end of the match as opposed to during the game. Thought it was weird, but since they never even got close to the 14 kill mark, I thought nothing of it.

A while later, I got the pop-up messages saying “Account banned” “Don’t quit anymore” “Can’t receive credits”. That’s the first time that’s happened to me. Reading other peoples’ posts, I saw that some people were getting banned just because the people playing were terrible and so the game thought they were AFK. It’s easy to see that they were not AFK. Just bad.

A few games they ended up getting kicked because they would run over a teammate in a vehicle or something like that and there was only one game where my cousin and I quit because everyone on our team had been booted or quit.

I don’t cheat, I don’t boost. I do my challenges as much as possible, I play the game right, and I don’t deserve this ban.
