Why Did I Get Banned - The Official Thread

On to youe issue, your son was banned because he had too many games with 0 kills, to the program that watches over that(banhammer) it looks like he wasn’t playing. The first ban normally lasts 24 hrs. To avoid this, it would be best for him to play firefight or something until he gets better. And remember, in matchmaking, all the other people playing also paid to play the game, it kind of sucks when your trying to win and your team-mate doesn’t get a single kill.

> >
> > Secondly. To answer your question. My copy of Halo:Reach has a rating of M for mature. 17+. Your 7 year old has no business playing this game, let alone going in to matchmaking and screwing up everyone else game. How about you go get him a wii with some mario kart, or sonics olympics, those games are more suited to a 7 yr old.
>
> no need to get your panty’s in a bunch, i am just trying to figure out what the heck is going on. people talk about a 24 hour ban and now he is going on 4 days for a first ban. we r new to the whole gamer lifestyle and as far as “M” for mature goes, i rather he plays Halo than watch half the programming on TV. halo is a fantasy game that’s easy to explain to a 7 year old as opposed to sexual inuendo’s we hear and see in music video’s and programs.
> so after his school is done, homework is finished and his athletics is over he is allowed to play some video games as a reward to his hard work being socially integrated into society.
>
> so what i gather people post on here when they get banned in hope of being heard to have their accounts checked again so they might be reinstated.
> how come halo does not change their policy to better help their customer base or am i just being naive to bungie’s bureaucratic gluttony and power abuse to get people addicted and make as much money as possible and screw the masses to their own benifit.

Well you were the one getting all upset over your 7 year old not being able to keep up with teens and adults, even though the game was intended for adults and teens. There is no need to change what they do to assist the customer base. Nearly all bans that occur minus the hacked accounts, are justifiable. Yours occured because your son at 7 years old clearly doesn’t have a grasp on game mechanics. Therefor him getting o kills is what caused it. The ammount of games may be what caused it to be so long, although I still haven’t heard of a week ban for the first offense. 90% of the time 343 (not Bungie) will NOT undo a ban. It’s just the way it works.

>
> Unfortunately you got banned for playing the game correctly. What happened is you played a bunch of BTB games, even though there was one slayer game that you got 0 kills. Most of your games were CTF, invasion, neutral bomb and the like. Assuming that you weren’t just standing around, your were actually trying to complete the objectives, and not kill a bunch of people. The computer program that tracks it looks at your kills. So it looks like you were AFK. If this is your first ban, it’ll be 24 hrs. In the future just try to get at least one kill a game to avoid being banned.

My wife an I also play and have discovered that there are a lot of factors that affect the number of kills - network speed disparity between players can affect things. Ever get frustrated that you are hitting your opponent 10 times and they hit you two times and you die! Still you get banned! Also - it would be helpful to have a probation mode with a description of the problem before enacting a ban. We are 6 days into a ban and have no idea when it will be lifted or how to avoid a ban in the future.

There are a long list of things that can be done to not only make the Banhammer run better, and more fairly but also to give out warnings, and reasons behind the bans. Sadly this won’t happen for Reach, as far as I know the “hammer” is embedded in the MM itself. Hopefully they make some changes for Halo4. But I agree it is a flawed system, and it sucks some people get banned for not doing anything wrong. But sadly that is all a part of what the game has always been.

I got banned for playing a few games with 0 kills an and it doesn’t say when the ban will be over?

> > I’ve been wrongfully banned from earning credits on Halo Reach, and the ban has not been lifted for four days. This is the second or third time I’ve been wrongfully banned, and I need the two bans taken off any record for my gamertag and those of my companions, and lifted if any are still active. I’m tired of being run around in circles to get the wrongful ban lifted. I’ve checked the original ban guidelines and determined that this ban and my past bans have been wrongfully placed. Also, 343 needs a RELIABLE support service, with phone numbers and/or a chat for these kinds of problems. I was basically run around in circles before being pointed here, and this is apparently the best 343 has to offer as a support service. Give me a hand 343, I’m sick of this.

> If Patriarc rain is also on your console that is the cause of the ban. Although it may have also been from the guest controller you had getting 0 kills. Either way its the way the cookie crumbles. Honestly though, if your playing for fun with your friends or whatever the credits shouldn’t matter. Also if you go in with a full party, you can play custom games and there would be no risk of a ban.

That doesn’t address my problem. I need the ban lifted, not an explanation of why it was placed. I already know the why, and my research on the ban guidelines have already proven this ban, and all but MAYBE one past ban to be wrongful. I’ve done my homework, Mister Masaker.

Also, you’d better have gotten that info honestly, or we’re gonna have a big problem buddy. And if you did, don’t tell me as if I didn’t know. I obviously wasn’t born yesterday.

Again, I apologize for my hostility. This is just extremely frustrating for an honest, faithful Halo player such as myself.

PatriArc Fox please dont get angry with me but I am just going to point out the obvious to you.
I went to Bungie.net and looked at the stats of your first 9 games in competitive and it looks like yourself and PatriArc Rain, snodgrass jnr, and network lagg were all guest AFKing. Whether you were or not isnt the issue. The issue is, to the bannhammer it looks like guest AFK boosting and they will ban you for that. In lots of those games the guests got zero kills and that is not a good look.

Just remeber when you come on here we can all see your game history and it doesnt take a rocket scientist to work out what is happening. The stats here are a classic example. http://www.bungie.net/Stats/Reach/GameStats.aspx?gameid=947780112&player=PatriArc Fox

Regardless of what it LOOKS like, it’s hard to simulate the randomness of matchmaking to a couple of prospective Arcs, and no other members were online at the time. You have to work with what you’ve got.

I purchased xbox gold memberships and halo reach today for myself and my family. Needless to say, we’re just beginning and aren’t very good at it. My husband and I were playing swat online with my nephew when we both received a message saying we had been banned from earning credits. Then a few moments later, we got one saying our whole console had been banned. I have no idea why this happened other than we weren’t getting very many, if any kills. My nephew says that there is some way you can cheat by doing this but I don’t know all the details behind that. We weren’t cheating. We were just trying to learn. Is there any way we can get this ban lifted and removed from our record? I don’t want our family banned just because we’re newbies. I’m not sure how else we can learn without just trying…

He is only trying to explain. Anyone can see your stats by checking your Gamertag. No reason to get angry

Well it’s too much control for a video game then… which, in my opinion, is really limited.

well i just saw that i got banned this morning but i dont boost my record. the only thing i might have done was a little AFC firefight while i was watching my cousin about a week ago, but i was still earning 10,000 points per game…

I know you apologized in the following post, but I want to point out a few things. If you did your homework, and know the why, then you already know that the ban will not be lifted, and in turn you coming into this thread has become a pointless endevour.

Secondly what info should I have gotten honestly?? Another person playing off your console? I said IF, because you two have similar names and played multiple games together, and nobody else you played with had Arc in their name. All that info can be seen at Bungie.net. And what big problem would we have? are you gonna come beat me up? Are you gonna call xbox and look like a fool? Are you gonna tell a mod and have them look into it and laugh at you? I’m just not understanding the internet tough guy act…

Either way, you already know by no matter who you contact your ban won’t be lifted. Everyone should know by this point that computer programs aren’t perfect. Its the way the game is, it has always been like this…

My buddy plays firefight with his 4 yo daughter all the time. Will he get banned?

I got banned this morning for two weeks this morning and i don’t know what i did i haven’t quit but one game all week. I’ve only been playing for a week but all I’ve been playing is grifball, team slayer, team swat, and matchmaking firefight(a lot of the last one).

I guess I’ve gotten all the useful information that I can from this forum. At least, what little I could find. I didn’t really need some -Yoink- posting my stats all over the internet, but as they say, “haters gonna hate.”

And I understand that the stats can be viewed by anyone, but that doesn’t mean I want the whole -Yoink!- world looking at stats that convey the wrong message. It was just a recruit training session gone wrong. Period.

This will be my last post on this forum, so don’t bother replying. I won’t see it.

Who posted your stats?? lol…seriously, if your doing “recruit training” thats almost ALWAYS done in customs for this reason. Bungie.net saves EVRYONES stats, it isn’t like your some special case. Since you claim you knew most of what you were told, I’m surprised you didn’t know something like that. Either way, have fun during your ban.

I don’t understand my ban. All of a sudden it says I’m banned for two weeks and I didn’t get any previous warnings. All I did was play firefight and earn credits via custom challenges and i did not go over the credit cap. Currently the cap is 200 000 cr.

Are there any other GT on your XBox? Also I heard the were starting bans for the Oni:Sword Base custom exploit. I would try and get ahold of “The little Moa”. Only because he had experience with this issue, he should be able to point you in the right direction.

Same here, got the 2 week banhammer this A.M. for my console. Doing firefight/score attack, custom challenges and hitting the cap each day. Basically been doing gruntpocaplyse as the custom challenge payout is rather large. Except for an occasional game of grifball I stay away from MM because I basically suck at it, . Lol kind of weird playing a game and at the end it shows 0 cr’s.
