What if I decided to modify my online account to unlock all the achievements for halo reach, would I get banned for that?
i was banned and i have know idea why i wasnt doing anything wrong i just got into a game and was about to start when i got the message saying i was banned for a week i wasnt like not playing d leveling or boosting
I found out the reason for my 2 Week Temporary Credit Ban on my Halo Waypoint Game History. Mainly from 2-19 through 2-20 were the games that i backed out of during the voting rounds or before the games even loaded. These games were 2X Score Attack and Limited that i opted not to play in lieu of Arcade and backed out of.
In each case of these games i backed out of during the voting round or before the game loaded and began, i received ZERO Credits. Way Point shows me being in these games for about 7 minutes each and quitting early without any kills. I WAS NOT AFKing nor was i even in these games!
A friend told me that i should of backed out of these games to the Dashboard instead of signing out of my Gamertag and then signing back on live. In any case that’s why in this Official Thread there should be someone here of Official Status to lift some of these bogus credit bans.
If you believe your account has been hacked into you may call X-Box Live Support Desk at (800)469-9269 and they will freeze your account to see if you have been hacked. If you decide to do this it will last about 3 days before you can sign back into your Gamertag again.
I fully support banning bad conduct but that behavior should be indicated in the ban.
I, and my console, was banned immediately after we were “Betrayed” several times in a match. I and my wife are very new to this and have no idea what, if anything we did wrong!
Finally, as a developer, I know there is NOOOOO Way you are 99.99999% accurate and since you do not let the “Banned” know what they did wrong (Even the posts in this forum indicate this) you have no way of validating that claim!
Please write me to let me know what I did. As it stands, I have no confidence in the BANHAMMER!

You have my e-mail
I was banned by my brother who leaves many games in reach. i was allowed to play after 15 minutes. for the last 3 days i have not quit once. I was in a Slayer match and a guy got reeally mad cause i was doing very good and he knew i was on probation bc i tell ereyone on my team. so i threw a sticky and he on purpose looked at it then walked on it then booted me and i got banned again. Can i get that revoked or something because thats juust BS and i dont even know how long the ban is. PLEASE HELP ME!!!
Gunneragain you have probably received a temp ban as you had a guest that played with you in Swat that got next to no kills and negative KD spread. Unfortunately the Banhammer sees that as your guest AFKing. I suggest you dont play Swat with that friend until they get better. If you intentionally had the guest signed in and let them AFK then your ban is deserved. If not its just bad luck.
My account has been temporarily banned from receiving credits for some reason and I would like to know how long this is going to last for… any help with this issue please?
Slayer of Flood ,
First, i wish to thank you for the reply and information, I would have never figured out the reason for my sons ban. Minus this forum that’s run by mostly wonderful volunteers It seems Microsoft lacks the necessary resources as to addressing all these related matters.Yet They seem to have no troubles receiving payment for individuals wishing to participate on Xbox live.
After reading your information i fell terrible as it may have been my fault my son was banned .Gunner And I enjoy playing SWAT online together and he is very good, I wish i could say the same about myself. It seems when you Join as a guest you have no Armour and you need to be on the top of your game against many of the players on line. And while your banned you aren’t allowed to earn point or rank. truthfully I’m not all that bad just seems everyone else is just a bit faster. And for this Gunner gets banned. Getting banned because your new or slow, Sounds a bit harsh if you ask me.
Could you please tell me how long the ban is ? And will he regain his old rank ? Boy, i feel terrible, i practice like you wouldn’t believe.
Slayer of food once again i wish to thank you and all the volunteers that take the time to answer all questions .
A hacker had got posession of my account for around 1 week total back in 2011. By the time Xbox Live Customer Support was able to give me the recovery details to get my account back, I had been permanently banned from Halo 3 MM. The console I have, is not, in any circumstances banned at all. I do not deserve this!! I would appreciate it someone could take this off for me. I desperately want to play Halo 3 before Halo 4 comes out this holiday season. If i can not get unbanned, I do not think im going to purchase halo 4. The gamertag is “Souiution”
Much Appreciated,
I am willing to pay also (if this means anything)
Mitch
I’d just like to thank you 343 for ‘temporarily banning’ my account from getting credits. I didn’t do anything to deserve this! I have been a Halo fan and spent quite a bit of money on halo games, merch and xbox live to play the game online, only to see my ban this evening. I’m wondering, could it be that my fiance was playing halo with my 4 year old daughter on a guest account and she got zero kills? Well congratulations for detouring my like for 343 (not that my opinion counts). So I guess I shouldn’t let my kid play. Both of my kids ask to play halo all the time. They usually play fire fight with me. but today my fiance let her play swat. big deal that she got zero kills. there are plenty of nubs that get zero kills. people play for fun, just because they are nubs doesn’t mean they should get credit ban. your systems of marking afkers should be based on who is going idle and NOT MOVING. Not a Zero kill factor. Hmmm… (P.S. it took A LOT to keep me from cursing 343 out) I really am disgusted with the way things are run atm… CHANGE IT!
hi, my 7 year old son was temporarily banned last night and we did not recieve an email to what was going on.
can someone please help and resend an email
Hi.
I read this thread carefully and am most certain that my situation was not mentionned as a possble scenario, thus resulting in my current inquiry. My situation is as follows;
My account was recently hacked (unauthorized access, as Xbox phone support reffered to it) and the person for whom had access to the account throughout the duration of this hack aided in getting my account ‘permanently suspended from Halo 3 online’. After having seen the following on Bungie’s website, I had called Xbox in the hopes that they would take it from there;
> Microsoft is now handling all Halo matchmaking and ban enforcement for Halo titles. You will need to contact Xbox LIVE support regarding issues with your Xbox LIVE account/Gamertag.
This was not the case. Xbox phone support informed me that title bans such as mine must be taken care of by yourselves (Halo). So here I am. My gamertag is ‘The Best Oniine’ and if need be, feel free to contact Xbox phone support to validate that the account was indeed hacked and the suspension correlates with the unauthorized access period.
Thank you for reading.
I look forward to a follow-up reply.
an email would be nice or some communication

You have to relax, there isn’t anyone assigned to watch over this thread. Answers aren’t always given immediately. On to youe issue, your son was banned because he had too many games with 0 kills, to the program that watches over that(banhammer) it looks like he wasn’t playing. The first ban normally lasts 24 hrs. To avoid this, it would be best for him to play firefight or something until he gets better. And remember, in matchmaking, all the other people playing also paid to play the game, it kind of sucks when your trying to win and your team-mate doesn’t get a single kill.
Can I find out why I have been banned from earning credits. I have not done anything wrong and if I have can you let me so that I know what I have done. My game tag is gooberrific
Frustrated, so if I’m getting this correct, when i try to play the game with my son (he’s two, clearly not getting any kills in rumble pit, or firefight) going to get banned since he doesn’t get a score. great job on the fail hammer. don’t think the rumble pit players mind the free kills off a zero kill guest. nice to know I’m gonna get penalized every time I try to play the game with my son for now… think it’s time to switch to star wars or something… didn’t even know there was an “auto ban” till that happened.
343 industries, or bungie, whichever is controlling the matchmaking servers really needs a better system, or gm’s to contact during play to work on cases. any chance this will be fixed in HALO 4? ('cause HALO’s really the only reason I play anything on the xbox)

Unfortunately, the ban hammer cannot distinguish between a bad player and an idle player. Not trying to question your parenting, but I have noticed quite a few threads lately about very young children playing this game when the bans occurred. I’m sorry, but a two year old will defiantly trip the ban hammer. If you have to play with a child that you know isn’t good, stick to campaign, or custom games. Multiplayer of any kind with someone who will get low or no kills will get you banned, add a guest to that, and it’s guaranteed.
This credit ban really aggravates fans. We are paying for Xbox Live and we even paid for the game. Is this really how 343/Microsoft treat their fans? Not fair for the fans! But they don’t care… They have too much control over our video games, they should pass a law against that… It might sound stupid but we are the consumers. We’re keeping them in business.

No, it only aggravates users who get caught. It’s this minor faction of the fan base who feel the need to boost statistics in order to increase their multiplayer “ego”, per-sei. Don’t speak stereotypically for all the fans; it’s laughable.

Unfortunately you got banned for playing the game correctly. What happened is you played a bunch of BTB games, even though there was one slayer game that you got 0 kills. Most of your games were CTF, invasion, neutral bomb and the like. Assuming that you weren’t just standing around, your were actually trying to complete the objectives, and not kill a bunch of people. The computer program that tracks it looks at your kills. So it looks like you were AFK. If this is your first ban, it’ll be 24 hrs. In the future just try to get at least one kill a game to avoid being banned.
