Why did Halo get rid of the 1-50 ranking?

Why? Everyone wants it back. This new CoD ranking system is just how long you played the game for. My friend is a sr-130 and is super negative like 6,000. While I’m a Sr-66 and I am positive 2,000… The rank in this game has no value.

Because too many people complained about not being able to get a high skill rank. hence, with Reach (and now H4) the developers turned it into a straight progression so that everyone can get the ‘top’ rank.

Its a bit -Yoink-, but it is what it is.

The Matchmaking section of the forums has a lot more written about on this subject.

They removed the ranks because people wanted them so badly they would buy other accounts that were level 50. If that sounds stupid to you, you are a logical person.
They also removed ranks because some people, it was not many, would cheat or derank. Again, that is how much people liked the 50. The cheating and deranking was pretty minimal though, I played well over 10k games, the vast majority ranked, and there was a level of deranking, and it annoyed me. I won’t lie about that, but it wasn’t a lot of cheating by any means. People who say that usually say that as an excuse for why they have so many losses. It wasn’t that bad, getting a 50 in doubles or team slayer was not that hard at all. In was fairly difficult in MLG, but I didn’t see much of it there.

I don’t know. They won’t even make one ranked playlist. At least give us Team Slayer.

According to Frank O’ Connor it was to decrease boosting. He said it was “not arguable” and the 1-50 increased the chances of people doing it. He went on to say they were going to come up with something to decrease this, but… uh… I don’t think it’s worked cause I see too many people complaining about afk people in SOPS (a very valid one at that. Peeeps would just use this to boost to their necessary rank to use the specs).

Just very stupid decision making on these guys part. Here’s the link: No 1-50. Another forum member was responsible for providing this link, but I forgot his name, so props go to that unknown dude.

true skill in Halo 3 was broken. it looked too far back into your gaming history.

When i first started playing H3 i sucked really really bad. i then got a lot better and even won a few cash tournaments around my area. problem is since i used to suck at H3 it was a lot harder for me to obtain lvl 50 on Team Slayer.

i had a 2 month trial that i used and it only took me 1 week to get to lvl 50 on Team Slayer while the account i played on every day wouldn’t go past 38 due to my past gaming experience.

it was a good idea but a flawed system.

What is the ratio of players who want rank back compared to those who don’t want it back?

Long story short they took it away for no good reason at all.

> What is the ratio of players who want rank back compared to those who don’t want it back?

On Waypoint it is about 5 or 6 to 1

I just don’t like getting demoted in Halo 3 deal with it for me it’s great and better than Reach’s system.

I hated getting demoted

Too many players boosted new accounts and then sold them. I’m glad it’s gone and I had multiple 50s and was onyx for many seasons.

it sucks, i wish they would bring it back. i was so proud of my 45 and now i have a 89 and i just say wow i play too much. halo has changed due to those kids that had to “buy” accounts because they weren’t good enough to get the high. pretty pathetic!

The trouble with the ranking system was that it played into players egos too much and became highly desirable…this ensured that almost anyone could get one if they wanted it enough, therefore rendering it valueless. Todays equivalent is a high KD, which again is meaningless because an average player can easily improve their kill ratio in so many ways… all these stats are nice, but unfortunately open to abuse.

I don’t even know what to say to this

not exactly

they got rid of it because of people selling level 50 accounts, which is against the rules for microsoft

Again. Competitive Skill Ranking like Halo 2 & 3 will be implemented next year. Stop crying.

Far too many people boosted or cheated to get the 50 rank.

Game is better off without it. All it does is encourage horrible behavior.

Immortal Strife - I believe that about as much as the official 9/11 story.
