why did it change its winning formula for a brocken one
Because Bungie wanted to change things up, and then 343 changed things up, and now 343 is trying to change things up while trying to go back to the times where Bungie didn’t change things up.
hmm detail please (give an example ) curious
Because it got stake and people wanted change bungie said no and went to make Destiny(terrible game btw) 343 gave change everybody hates them for it even though it’s really good change and halo 5 is awesome
how so what makes halo 5 great
Because 343 tried to make Halo into Call of Duty but the community said “no we want an actual Halo game”, so naturally they made Halo 5.
Unsurprisingly people went “no” again since it’s still not really that much of a Halo game, so 343 will probably do something else wildly different for “Halo” 6.

Doubt it. Frankie is always on Gaf and they’re very vocal about the pros and cons of halo 5.
cons
-terrible story
-campaign too short
-launch content missing
-split-screen
-warden is repetitive
-focus on RNG system
pros
-solid gameplay
-free dlc and post-launch support
-focus on 60fps
so that tells me that H6 may put more effort behind it’s story (why they even hired the Spartan ops/escalation writers to make the story is beyond me. SO wasnt exactly the water cooler talk they wanted it to be) while keeping the gameplay fairly on point with 5.
Scrap Spartan charge than halo 5 is a good game
Because no one is going to want to play the same thing over and over. It gets stale if you don’t change something.

I sure hope they don’t rely solely on GAF for their feedback, because this game has clear mechanical problems that the geniuses at GAF will never address.

I was thinking the same of your OP. What do you think the winning formula was ?

TBF, I think I trust GAF more than Waypoint. But I’d rather they get more widespread opinions, basically collecting everything possible from here, gaf, twitter and facebook and look at what people consider pros and cons and just expand upon the successes of halo 5 with 6 (Like going from CE to 2) rather than starting fresh with newer gimmicks/game changers (Like going from 3 to Reach or 4)

What’s amusing is that’s actually fairly accurate.
> Because no one is going to want to play the same thing over and over. It gets stale if you don’t change something.
And if you change too much then what people loved about it to begin with is no longer present and thus they no longer want to experience it.
That’s the problem with sequels, trying to find the happy medium between being innovative/refreshing and being familiar/consistent
After a few games a winning formula stops being a winning formula, if we ignore the COD games previous to COD4, as thats when most people started playing COD, then by the time ghosts came out, the winning formula started to be hated, and ghosts didn’t even change anything. After ghosts came the games in the future and they’re gradually going further and further from their formula (coughinfinitewarfarecough)
I guess it just happens, I remember a few years ago people said both COD and Halo were putting out clone games, so bungie started the trend of changing it to find a new winning formula, or so i think anyways

Except people are demanding in droves that CoD go back to what it once was.
Let me offer a different perspective that may not have been considered.
Judging the failure of a formula by the failure of one game is ill advised because the game could’ve failed for completely different reasons that are irrelevant to how fresh or dated the formula feels. You could make a Halo 2 inspired game and even the purest of Halo 2 fanboys wouldn’t like it if it had terrible maps and wonky aiming mechanics. i.e. they don’t hate the game because it’s too similar or too different, they hate it because it’s just a poorly executed game.
And I’m willing to bet that’s the source for a large portion of Ghost complaints. I do recall hearing bits and pieces here and there about things Ghosts did wrong on a mechanical level.

That’s a completely fair point, I can’t really argue with that. In terms of Halo 5’s multiplayer the only thing that gets to me is poor spawning, every other newly introduced mechanic doesnt bother me because no matter how much you dislike it, every else has to deal with it and every else has the same opportunities to use it - but when you spawn falling off the balcony on Noctus, or spawn taking damage before your screen has even properly loaded, that drives me insane and is the only thing about Halo 5 that truly infuriates me, but I dont know if there was really ever a formula in previous titles to use/break.
If by “winning” you mean stale…

According to who? The millions that left the franchise or you?

yeah I hope 343 atleast makes Halo 6 a REAL Halo game
And with that I mean no sprint (well sprint can be a bit acceptable), no thursting, sliding, clambering and all those stupid moves.

What is GAF?
