Why did Halo 5 ship without game types?

All we have, even in custom games, is variations of slayer, ctf and warzone. This is unacceptable. Ever Halo game up till now at least had king of the hill and oddball. Halo: Combat Evolved from the year 2001 shipped with oddball and king of the hill.

Every Halo game since Halo 2 has had juggernaut(well, Halo 4 decided rename it and the guys at 343 for some reason thought they had a new idea by calling it regicide), assault and territories. Most Halo games have a variation of race, ever Halo game after Halo 3 had grifball and infection. Where’s stockfile, vip, bullseye. Hell, even the option for random weapons on spawn are gone so no more fiesta.

I can live without the fun less popular games like race, I guess, but why on earth are the most basic game times from ever Halo game not here?

I can only think of two reasons. The first of which is, they just didn’t have time to ship it, like forge. If this is the case, 343, you haven’t learned anything from the Master Chief Collection. Just because the game isn’t riddled with bugs this time doesn’t mean it’s okay to ship it unfinished. You finish, then you ship. You don’t just count on patches to cover your -Yoink-. The first impression is everything, just look at Titanfall, they patched all sort of new game types and content, but how much did people care? Their first impression was it was a fun game but didn’t have many things to do so they moved on.

The second possibility is that 343 decided that they wanted to include the new game types in major content updates with the new maps to create a false sense of increased value in the dlc. if this is the case, that is disgusting and while I found the microtransactions mostly inoffensive when I first played the game, I would find it completely inexcusable if they were holding back core content just to make the game more marketable and it just makes Halo 5 feel more like a product than anything.

I guess there’s a third, worse possibility. Maybe 343 feels that all these other game types don’t work well with Halo 5’s gameplay and honestly believe it should slayer all day, every day…

Hell, if someone from the dev team wants to speak up and put me in my place and blow me away with some legit reasons, I welcome you, I want to be wrong.

true. the only game mode you can say is there is breakout FFA, and swat. that’s practically nothing and they are not even the best game modes, theyre meh. arena is arena and warzone is warzone.

This is a good question and would like some one “monitor, 343i, Sec3,” to answer it. Ive played like 60 games total “low i know” in 4 game types and seen like 7 maps WTF? Really. Im a 343 fan love halo loved 4 “Didnt buy mcc not getting me like that sorry allready own em all not buying twice” but wth. Warzone has three maps. “If its more ihavent seen them” 1 map for ffa. 3 for slayer. Getting stale allready hauss. Love ypu guys f@$k CoD and the reat.spartan born amd breed but we need diversity to keep it going. Please… my math could be off as im drunk atm but doesnt change the vallidity of my staement thank you

That’s not much of a solution. :frowning: I think the game mechanics are great and I’m enjoying myself, for now. But yeah, I’ll quit playing if they don’t add them soon. My favorite game types are the objective game types.

Well no Halo has ever Launched with it’s entire list of game types day one. even launching with BTB is a new thing. They are going to start adding new game types soon.

Shouldnt have to wait for features youve paid for. No one is asking for anything.that wasnt standard on the last 3 games. NOOB

I enjoy Warzone, but there isn’t enough variation. You’re playing on the same three maps, going after the same three locations on each, fighting ai bosses in the same spawn locations. It’s not dynamic enough to sustain itself and honestly I feel like 343 intentionally didn’t ship with btb because they want their req money and forcing players to play warzone ensure it has an audience. It’s gonna get old unless they add more maps and more game types for warzone.

This is false. Im pretty sure H4 was the only halo to add a gametype post launch and that was ricochet. Other then that every gametype was available in custom games from the start

I just NEED BTB with Social, Team Slayer, CTF, KOTH, Team Regicide, BTB Heavies, and throw in a map rotation that’s actually random(why is it so hard to make the maps rotation random???) And goes through all the maps, and I’ll be playing that and Slayer on my XB1 non stop.

That’s true. But you DONT HAVE TO BUY REQS. It’s lame people are buying them IMO. Also yeah I don’t particularly enjoy war zone all that much. I am more of a FFA player.

There is no solution… all you can do is wait for the content to be added. Complaining here isn’t going to get the stuff added any faster.

My guess is they were hoping to funnel as many people into Warzone as they could.

And lol @ all the people telling them to wait. You’re missing the fact that this game launched with the weekest playlist in the entire franchise…and it’s the 7th installment (6th new one) … But hey, this is 2015… where we pay more for less.

people voicing there displeasure about the lack of content does more then people who are silent and just waiting around hoping 343i will add the gametypes back into the game

I’m not saying you have to buy reqs, but the likelyhood of someone buying them is much higher than if there were a btb playlist at launch. Otherwise there’d be a greater number of players in that playlist. Heck, if there was something other than just the arena playlists and warzone Im sure a fair amount of the population would be displaced from warzone as they’d actually have choices.
