Why did everyone's Warzone KD suddenly spike?

So I manage 2 companies where I track everyone’s stats as we are going for achilles items. Since the April season began, everyone’s Warzone KD (not KDA) on Waypoint has bumped up i’d say 50% higher on average, including myself. I went from a 1.4 war zone kd to a 2.07 in just a week. Most people with 2.0+ kd’s are now above 3.0. The Arena KD ratios remained the same as they’ve been. Were there some missing stats 343 just became aware of or something? Why the sudden bump?

Before ai kills didn’t count they changed that so they do and added all the ai kills you had into it

I think they added AI kills into the mix or something.

Oh gosh so now everyone who kills a lot of grunts and crawlers are being credited the same as those that kill spartans? That’s interesting, but I guess it’ll work.

Its because the game also registered every death by ais as a death on the k/d, and they had ai kills for kd before I think so its easier to just add it back then take out more.

plus makes those players that are cleaning up bosses get some credit

And those that are cleaning up grunts and crawlers get more credit than they deserve lol.

I thought it was custom games. I guess I was wrong lol

Well I for one think that killing Kinghts and Hunters etc is harder than killing a Spartan, so makes sense that these AI kills should count, right?
And lets be honest…sometimes noobs put up less of a fight that Grunts and Marines…

I don’t think it’s ai kills, because before I was missing over 5000 warzone kills on here. But now they add up to my actual kill count. Thus my kd has improved on waypoint while staying the same on halo 5

Gotten my rear flattened by Crawlers and Soldiers plenty a time.

They should have two k/d stats with one just for spartan-on-spartan encounters and the other being a cumulative one.

So KD now means absolutely nothing. Finally. I really dislike that statistic.

i was going to say lol it should mean nothing anyway, i personally dont even think it should be displayed.

Finally the game is acknowledging my sacrifices to kill those pesky Elites and Soldier Commandos.

Ya I’m not saying it doesn’t take skill to kill them, because I’ve been killed by them many a time, but it’s a different type of kill. For one, if you’re entering a fortress or base by yourself without taking a tactical advantage, it’s multiple enemies at a time. A spartan controlled base has at least 4 marines usually and an AI controlled garage will have like 5 or 6 knights and 5 or 6 crawlers. So I wouldn’t say they are harder than killing a spartan, but because they are in such large groups and their weapons are ridiculously powerful and accurate, they seem that way.

But if one crawler were running around a war zone map, I wouldn’t typically equate that to one spartan lol (but like you said there are some noob instances for sure). Could you imagine if there were 10 spartans waiting on the same level of the garage and you walked in how fast you would die?

Ya it was already pretty obvious because your spartan kd reflected against other real players and you have specific ai kill counts so its pretty obvious where one’s focus is.

Mine went up because I drank a case of Mt Dew and became a Halo God. Then I got a sugar slump and it went back down. I was good for like 5 minutes. Oh and the AI thing also.

I am just curious to see how many total kills marines have gotten, they can be pretty beast.

I disagree. I think your kd should be the most important stat in the game. However, the way that 343 implements it, along with their ranking system dependent on team w/l ratios, it is done incorrectly. I think that’s why a lot of people think it’s pointless. Your KD has always been one of the most important elements, if not the most important in Halo, until recently.

Halo has always been about kills. Halo at its roots is a basic game of slayer where killing the other team more than they kill you is all that matters in the end. And sure there are other game modes now where killing isn’t as important, but Halo as I’m familiar with it typically comes down to kills. I think that’s why a lot of classic Halo fans haven’t liked 343’s version of Halo because there are so many modes where skill and killing other spartans aren’t important. I personally don’t like Warzone as much because of the countless games where I see people who absolutely slaughter the other team and ended up almost at the bottom of the scoreboard, while other individuals just ran around and put a few fuel rod shots on some minor bosses and ended up at the top. I guess it’s just a matter of preference though.

I wish they had a war zone slayer. 12 on 12, smaller maps, slayer mode. Like assault but forget capping bases and having to destroy a core.
