Why did 343 make Halo 4 with CoD additions?

I honestly couldnt understand why they did, and does anyone know why they went that direction? Was it to try and fix Reach or try something new? I know coping another companies to try and cater to them but honestly this make me think abotu DmC Devil May Cry compared to the original Devil May Cry. Lots of people hate the new DmC and want the original.

I feel Halo is like that now and I see Halo 4 being a Reboot MM wise rather than actual story. But why, just why add CoD elements to Halo? The backlash is getting way out there and a lot of people dislike this game because it doesnt play original. Honestly EVERY game that I have played in Halo 4 there hasnt been a single map that has weapons actually placed on the map except for Ordance Drops which dont count.

343 should have understood that the backlash that was going to come. I do in fact understand that this is their first actual game but in hindsight their decisons were poorly done. Some of the AA dont even make sense being there in the first place so yea.

Just my 2 cents and POV.

sigh

…then go play the original. It’s still there, it doesn’t have an expiry date and it won’t be going away.

To please the community. The majority asked for these additions. They even put a CoD control scheme in.

I think he said “No, they didn’t” in response to “The majority of the community asked for these additions” because I’ve never heard a Halo played say that they wanted classes, sprint, etc… in Halo, besides for the scatter troll here and there.

Ahh right, nevermind then. Still, they did add a CoD control scheme in, which a lot of other shooters seem to be using these days.

Exactly how i feel also and if halo 5 has these same elements i aint gunna buy it

  1. To adapt to the current gaming market and environment.

  2. Bring in new players.

  3. They thought the Halo community would enjoy the changes and adapt to them.

  4. Do something new and they probably thought it was a step forward.

I love the changes and hate them at the same time, if that makes any sense. I like how it gave us more customization to our own playstyle, and I find the new additions “fun” but as a result, it made the game a whole lot more random, less competitive, unbalanced and unfair, and way too crazy for many players’ tastes. It was a risky experimental move but I like that 343 isn’t afraid to try something new.

Overall, I think the additions are very cool but it is a bit too much and they have thrown away too much of what made Bungie’s Halo ‘Halo’. The end result is a chaotic mess that only pleases the people who don’t mind the changes or wanted a Halo - modern shooter hybrid. Just don’t think the new “modern” additions work well with such a unique and different game like Halo, that’s all.

Because 343 are handicapped like the spartan in a wheelchair at the GDC panel…

Agree with this…nor have I

You’ve never played team doubles, as weapons are on the ground all the time. (could just be in pro) Still, Ordinance isn’t cod like so stop Yoinking! PO is still bad though.
