So lately even with the announcement of CSR (the ranking system a good part of the community has wanted) we’ve still been hearing incessant complaints about the ranking system, the prime one being that it must be in game. In actuality I believe 343 took the best route with CSR by doing it through waypoint. Lets not try and pretend the majority really care about his system, because as we all know the majority doesn’t. No disrespect meant, I’m just simply stating something we all know. Only the hardcore/competitive fan wants to see a 1-50 or skill based ranking system, any claim that the game will die based on the lack of this being in game or implemented in general is a total load (I mean look at previous COD’s success even when most were utter crap). If the gameplay is bad the game will die off, thats what killed Reach NOT the lack of said ranking system, but thats another discussion best saved for another day. Anyone who is primarily interested and emotionally vested in this ranking system obviously doesn’t have a problem jumping on waypoint to whine about it not being in game, so why couldn’t you just jump on waypoint on your phone between matches and check your CSR. What 343 is trying to do is give us the best of both worlds, the competitive players can be happy because they get this ranking system, but by keeping it on waypoint the casuals who don’t want to be put down for lack of skill don’t need to divulge their own rank, or even check on it. Thats the beauty of this whole idea it can keep both sides happy. If your still not convinced then once again ask yourself if its easy to come onto waypoint to complain about CSR not being in game why wouldn’t it be easy to go on and merely check your rank.
Better than nothing…'nuff said
OP - That’s too much like right. People act like 343i is Burger King, and they can have it their way. ((((Shrugs))))
Agreed.
Walls annoy me. We have enough about CSR to build something bigger than China’s…
> Better than nothing…'nuff said
This.
And there is always the chance that we will get an update that displays your rank in game.
> if its easy to come onto waypoint to complain about CSR not being in game why wouldn’t it be easy to go on and merely check your rank.
Win.
CSR isn’t good because it is from an external source not an internal source, for CSR to work it has to be visible in the respected playlists because this way people can judge who they’re up against, where they’re at and see if true skill is working, it also gives you something to work for.
with it being an external source doesn’t do anything, it just makes it another external stat which doesn’t mean anything, you can’t show it off, you can’t contiously check your progress in game, you can’t see how other people around you are doing, its pratically the same effect as if it wasn’t there at all.
Better than nothing.
That’s good enough for me.
> Better than nothing…'nuff said
An attitude like this won’t improve anything. It’s better than not having anything, yet worse than not having one.
Whoa, cowboy!

Well if were paying 60 dollars for a burger and they gave me ketchup when i said i wanted mustard then you better believe im not gonna just sit there and eat it after paying 60 dollars you TOOL
There’s no reason it shouldn’t be visible in game lobby

#1)I’ve seen plenty of people complain on the forums that Reach’s trueskill system wasn’t working. They didn’t have a stat to tell them that. They just knew from playing experience. If CSR fails, I’m sure we’ll know either way.
#2)You’re still getting a stat you can judge your prowess against another. Isn’t that what 1-50 was anyway? A statistic.

While I agree with your point, there’s no need to be a -Yoink- about it. People will take you less seriously if you act like a jerk, rather than acting courteously, not to mention it’s just rude. Try to be a bit nicer, it tends to improve the environment, and leads to better things.
sorry

It will judge who you are up against and you will be matched with people your CSR level

If you are paying $60 for a burger than you would be a tool. :=P
NOTE: Your frustration is very misplaced…

you will know before the game starts not 5mins in when everything’s gone sour, it allows you to prepare for who your up against better.

online stats and hidden in service record stats are different to actuall in game stats, one you don’t have easy access to and you have to go out of you way to see and the other you just have to look next to a persons name.
the former ruins any meaning because its hidden away, if you can’t access it easily then almost no one is going to bother with it, they probably won’t even be aware of its very existence because its hidden, there is no point in playing for something that you have to put more effort and money into seeing.
the latter gives it a meaning because it is so easily accessible, just play in the playlist and you can see it, because its so easy to access players will be inclined to work for it, play towards it, show it off, pretty much utilize the feature because they actually know its there and doesn’t take any extra effort to see.
I’m a hardcore player and I don’t care about ranking system…
I know if I’m getting better or worse by my own
