(First paragraph isn’t me)
“The casuals didn’t have 13 accounts, didn’t spend 9 hours straight playing halo, didn’t show up at midnight to buy your -Yoink- -Yoink- game. Say what you will about the attitude of the competitive player but at the end of the day, they were the ones sustaining you game. They didn’t rent it at blockbuster and get tired of it immediately, the competitive gamer played Halo continually until the next one came out, so to me disappointing that gamer is very idiotic; but, now, the situation is no longer true- the competitive gamer will drop it in a week, ALONG WITH the casual gamers.”
I have more than 30 gamertags on my xbox just because I wanted to get from 1-50 all over again in Halo 3. I graduated highschool a year late because in my sophmore year I decided to cut school (BIG MISTAKE) to play Halo 3. I didn’t touch Reach from October of release until the TU.
“This gives the matches other focal points, and it also helps alleviate the advantage longtime players always used to have over newer recruits; the best weapons are not always going to be found at the same spawn locations.”
I shouldn’t have an advantage over some 14 year old who just got permission to play a M rated game? I’ve been playing this series for 10 years, I should have a clear cut advantage over anyone who isn’t experienced.
Competitive players do not want to make the game just BRs, Rockets, Snipers, and Grenades. We want a game that can be played the same exact way at the casual level and the competitive level so everyone is playing the same game. If the competitive players are forced to alter the standard gametypes for a more favorable competitive experience then everyone loses.
Armor Abilities, Instant re-spawns, and random weapon spawns are not beneficial for balanced, fun, and repeatable gameplay by both the casual and competitive player.
No one wants to lose a game 50-49 because the rockets dropped next to red team just because that’s how it happened this time.
It’s honestly ridiculous. When reach came out, I used to have a lot of friends that played halo. Now, there is literally only one friend that still plays, because of how bad reach is. We all got MW2, and we all enjoy it, but I like no bloom no sprint Reach better, and I sure as hell like h1, 2, and 3 better. Now with this reveal, it looks like h4 will be worse than reach. are you kidding me?! When i want to play COD, I play COD. When i want to play halo, i play halo. Keep halo halo. Halo is about map control, power up control, weapon timing/control and RANKS. It’s about starting on an even playing field every match and going from there. The addition of AA’s and the omission of 1-50 ranks killed reach. With these changes to h4, the true halo fans (if they buy h4) will drop out after a few weeks or so, just like with reach. the casuals will leave just as soon as the next decent game comes out. and the cod noobs won’t switch to halo because it has cod characteristics. they’ll stay on cod. did 343 learn nothing from reach???
I don’t think people understand what us competitive gamers want. We want the problems within Halo 3’s system fixed and we want the old arena gameplay style back. Changes to the game like invasion and Spartan Ops and those types of things are completely okay. But when you change the core gameplay mechanics of Halo like what happened with Reach and what is happening with Halo 4, that is what makes us competitive gamers rage. We don’t want Call of Duty easy mode gameplay. Keep instant gratification in the realms of Call of Duty and World of Warcraft.
Halo has always been a more skill intensive FPS. When you completely strip away the things that take skill (timing weapons, base player speed, equal starts, etc.) you basically noobify the game to give everyone a 50/50 chance when it should be all about who is better.
You cant possibly be a competitive player when you reached a level 50 and then created a new account to play against noobs. You are the reason why trueskill went invisible because that number is to match you up with similiar skill players. Not a reason for you to get to the highest level and either stop playing that play list or what you did in creating 30 accounts.

Yeah pretty much this.
Been playing on my 50 since early 08. Whoever wrote that 1’st paragraph is the reason we can’t have a visible 1-50.

Still don’t see why… MSFT was getting revenue from the accounts created which also further increases their revenue by inflating their subscription population to use for advertising purposes.
Why cut a source of micro transaction when that is what makes the game industry the most money?

Fast… paste? Yes, the fast Call of Duty copy/paste will attract a lot of people. Then they will all leave for the next Call of Duty game.

not if this game comes out after the new black ops… It will be newer and that was an advantage black ops had over reach. But then again reach wasn’t all that great… Halo 4 has a lot more anticaption on it… Any money halo 4 will take its throne back will all these changes…

> What’s your take on Arena’s seasons?
Boring, non-rewarding, frivolous. Especially when playing countdown. Arena would of worked if title were given out to the top 20 percent of all arena players.
The OP said it well. Compeptitive players in Reach have been forced into playing Customs or MLG thats it.
We let Bungie try something new with Reach. We all understand that companies make mistakes. But I dont understand why 343i wants to build off of Bungie’s failed game?
Look at hours spent playing each game?
The numbers speak for them selves. And on launch day I think 343i will realize this.
Be prepared for competitve players across the board to boycott this game. Halo is more ours game then it is yours. The community build you and now we can destroy you. We are ones that can choose not to buy your game. And I think you will find that the life span of H4 will be one month. The randies are only looking for the new game. They don’t care about reaching Max Rank or stats.
Mark my words 343i you have blown what could have been an amazing game. All you had to do was give us what we wanted and we would have made you kings.
