Halo has done nothing but baby players with this more adv. motion tracker, there are many reasons why the motion tracker shows what it shows in the competitive setup.
-
Shows an X at least on the tracker when a friendly player dies. The red X on screen, isn’t coming back.
-
Allows you to at least ESTIMATE if the steps and sounds you hear in the game are friendly or not. If you hear sounds from behind you, you can glance (at the tracker) to check if friendly. If it was completely turned off, you’d be turning around constantly.
-
It promotes gameplay and movement, reducing camping and idle gamaplay. Your team has the ability to make pushes, flanks, and send one person into the stir the pot up while causing confusion, while the remaining team members rip apart the rest. Knowing where everyone is coming from is just boring and easy to stop every push etc. Ask yourself how many times in a game with Motion Tracker turned on do you catch grenades as soon as you round a corner? ← easily 85% of the time, the other 15% is because they don’t have any to throw, or you would have.
***honestly, Halo has babied players for to many years with motion tracker, this is something I have been blaming Bungie for year over. There has NEVER been a reason to add this to a MM based game. Sure, keep it in Aliens but that’s where it belongs. I have no problem with radar, but showing you where ALL motion is just screams. ‘slow gameplay’
Also, the community is low as this should have been around since day one. A good amount of players have moved on from Halo weeks if not months ago. MLG dropping this as well is a contributor to easily 1-3K players on a daily basis to not even turn on Halo 4. I expect this playlist will stay around the 3-5K mark. The players that don’t want to learn to pay without radar will stay away and the quitting is an issue, but I haven’t had that many issues with it.
