Why COD is the most popular game...

The reason why COD is the most popular game is the same as why it is flamed by the non COD players… and its being a house painted in the out side but, remains the same in the inside, this make COD buyers aware that what they are going to buy is the same formula that they love but, polished. (What was done with halo 2 to halo 3)

Normally when games changes formula they end killing them Clear examples are HALO then HALO REACH, now Halo 4 (don’t get me wrong I think Halo 4 is the best halo yet) another example is the Resident Evil Series.

We are seeing that many lovers of halo the community are being disappearing because of this fact.

If Halo keep going this way it might die, well it might be a little soon to say that, but it always fun to speculate…

What are your thoughts? and remember…This is my opinion

Uhm…

In my opinion, COD is a pick up and play game for casuals which any proper gamer could easily go on and demolish every casual.

I know people who know nothing about games, yet play and love COD.

Says it all for me quite frankly.

Halo 3 was also a pick up and play game, but it required skill to be good. That was the formula of halo, now it seems as a much complex game

Well, I like to compare CoD to a game that reminds me a lot of it: Guitar Hero. Year releases, no change in core gameplay, yep Pokemon did the same. Treyarch is just ramming CoD into the ground and waiting till it blows up. And I’ve actually seen a graphics drop since MW2 in the CoD series, what’s up with that?

To an extent it was, Halo use to be the mainstream game after all.

Not everyone could be good at it or have a good game almost every game.

I know for a fact I could go on COD right now and get high in the score boards in a game of TDM, not being cocky or saying I’m awesome. Its just the kind of game it is. If a COD player was to try do the same to Halo, they’d most likely get wrecked.

The reason why guitar hero didn’t live long enough it was because the game was getting worse not better. And the Multiplayer wasn’t taken seriously, it was more of a game to play at parties.

With COD it gets better ( at least for COD fans), the multiplayer can be taken seriously and competitive at the same time, like halo 3 or 2

Call of Duty is like today’s music. It’s crappy but popular. While Halo is the classic music that is good, but doesn’t get as much attention that it used to.

That is why halo isn´t as popular as before because it changed a lot from halo 3 to reach, and halo 3 was a game from 2007 that was actually competing with a game from 2009. My hypothesis is that if Halo stayed true from its formula, with new graphics and fixed bugs, it´d be more popular than COD ( at least in Xbox Live)

Im trying to explain why this is happening, not saying what has been said over and over again

Halo’s time is done, nothing can bring it back to the way it originally was, also Halo didn’t have much competition back then either.

With the sheer amount of casuals that play COD, and the somewhat new generation of gamers growing up with it like the Halo community grew up with Halo.

Down the line, the same thing will happen to them. New game craze, new generation and numbers to go with it, things change.

COD is what Halo used to be. A fad. It’s more niche now. You can talk about all these things that will “save” the game like ranks or spectator mode (or whatever). There is no doubt things like these will help the game (hell they should be added in) but Halo will never be as popular as COD. It wouldn’t matter if went down the Halo CE route again, the Halo 2, or even Halo 3.

Of course, that doesn’t mean Halo is a bad game. In fact, i will always prefer Halo over COD (but i do play both games) but COD is just what is “hip” now days.

Eventually, COD will grow out of style. Maybe not now but the games’ are starting to show age despite Treyarch’s attempts to work with in the limitations of Activations annual release policies.

I stopped playing Call of Duty a long time ago. I gave MW3 a chance for a while but after that, I’ve sworn off all Call of Duty games until that franchise undergoes massive changes.

Too repetitive, too many campers, and way too many cheaters.

That is exactly what is was thinking, my fear is that maybe the new halo trilogy will end un-finshed

> And I’ve actually seen a graphics drop since MW2 in the CoD series, what’s up with that?

CoD keeps aesthetics at a low quality to maintain framerate. Halo on the other hand says “-Yoink- it” and does it’s best to look as nice as possible. This is why halo lags quite a bit when too much happens onscreen.

I hope this new trilogy doesn’t end unfinished. Especially after Halo 4’s campaign.

I can’t imagine it, as the hype will always rake in the money for MS.

The online dominance side of things though…don’t see that happening again.

The new Halo will come in the next-gen console, a fresh start for every game, maybe a new game will rise as the new multiplayer king, maybe COD will continue their empire, maybe halo will come back from the ashes, we will just have to wait and see

The develops of CoD don’t try to purposely alienate their fans in order to attract a new audience every time they release a new game.

> The develops of CoD don’t try to purposely alienate their fans in order to attract a new audience every time they release a new game.

I think that the problem is that now every game company is trying to beat COD by changing their game completely and ending up killing it, and fail in the mission to tackle down COD
