Why Clamber is GOOD

Clamber seems to me to be the only GOOD Spartan Ability, as it doesn’t change the game too much, let’s go back to 2008! I was playing infection with some friends and I climbed to the top of a building and slid off accidentally, I said to myself “why don’t we have the ability to pull ourselves up ledges?”. Fast Forward to 2012! I was in a game of splatter monkey on Reach and accidentally backed up off the ledge and said “we still don’t have the ability to pull ourselves up ledges because?”. Now to 2014! In a game of Halo 4 parkour, due to terrible physics I was bounced off the edge of a wall and died, guess what I said, go on, guess. Yep same thing. Now to the H5 Beta! WE CAN CLIMB LEDGES MY PRAYERS HAVE BEEN ANSWERED! So basically this was THE main thing I liked about H5, not reqs, not arena, not warzone, not firefight, and not forge, but clamber.

Have any game play reasons for why clamber is good for halo? I’ll wait to respond until then.

Clamber to me is just ok, it’s not great, it’s not bad, I prefer crouch jumping personally, feels more videogamey. Lol

I like clamber but I blame the ability for the creation of the cliffhanger medal and certification which is the bane of my existence. It’s taking forever to complete!!

I also enjoy clamber, but I’m not a pro so my opinion is worthless.

Maybe even worse than worthless…

My only problem with clamber is that they reduced the jump height because of it,(or maybe sprint too) so areas you could reach in the past just by simply jumping are now accessible only by clamber which leaves you vulnerable, if only for a short time. If they buff jump height and offered clamber as an optional alternative to crouch jumping I’d be fine with it. But even in its present state I don’t really have any strong feelings against it

Clamber is something that game doesn’t need to be designed around unlike other abilities and I am fine with it.

I like clamber for the fact that it makes mantling more fluid and more forgiving for novice players.

I dislike it because maps were designed to require it’s use and trick jumps are now more overly complicated.

Reach didn’t have clamber, but also had the lowest jump height of all halo games.

Just be glad those “trick jumps” don’t involve invisible coin blocks over a pit of black muncher plants, you know what I mean. #Makemorekaizo

Lol

thrusters and clamber are the only aa that need to stay. so its easy, but less mess in the game allows for better game flow. plus stabilized jumps are just so fun!

Clamber is good because it gives you a guaranteed way to get up a ledge, but if you clamber every-which-way, you’re delaying yourself a tiny bit, which can be taken advantage of by another player. This means that while you CAN clamber all over the place, you should try to crouch jump while you can, because your gun is still up while doing so. Failure to successfully crouch jump or falling short will result in falling to the ground, which can mean ending up in the enemy’s cradling arms.

Clamber is tied with sprint for my least favorite ability. It makes mobility far too forgiving and chops up the flow of the game. If you want to make it up ledges, then you can git gud and stop failing and slipping off.

Claps, wipes tears, and throws rose

THB I’d rather no trusters and only sprint and clamber.

Get good is a poor excuse, and honestly only scrubs or sweaty tryhards use it. So if you have nothing constructive to say, the exit is thattaway.

I think back to the days where I was trying to reach a cetain height, like searching for the skulls in halo 3 and anniversary in some out of reach places. There were some levels where I was trying to reach some of the skulls, but some would either be stuck somewhere high or on the other side of a cliff. As I try to reach for it, I’d just end up missing the ledge by mere inches. Even using a grenade jump had been difficult for me in some cases as it took many tries to get it right. Those were the times where I’d wished I could just grab on to the edges to claim my prize. So it is my belief that Clamber is a solution to those problems.

Because it’s annoying as all get out when there is a box that any halfwit should be able to climb on to, but my Spartan cannot? It doesn’t seem strategic to me to exclude clamber, just archaic vestige of simpler games. Just like I’m glad we can use the vertical axis to shoot now instead of just horizontal  exaggerating yes I know, but I don’t see any disadvantage to its inclusion.

I found the constructive part! Do I get (::slight_smile: now?

Seriously, though, I honestly really dislike clamber. Aside from making areas too easy to access and control, it takes away the satisfaction of perfecting crouch jump tricks on maps like The Pit. That last part is subjective, though.

Hmm is not great. I personally preffer the jump crouch classic. The player NEVER stops aiming,
