Was there any reason for this decision? Still, 4 months after the release of Halo 4, I cannot understand this decision. It’s not like descoping didn’t do its job; it actually did it quite well.
I ask that 343 return the descoping mechanic; a staple of the Halo series. We know it’s possible for the code to do so; they just patched the flagnum glitch where players were getting knocked out of scope. Please 343, use common sense. I’m tired of random, frustrating gun battles across valhalla, or getting sniped after pelting someone with multiple shots, only to see on the kill cam that the player was scoped in the entire time.
Descope is a must to help fix BTB with the DMR that can’t miss as well as bringing abit of skill and Halo roots to the game.
The result of this is that you have to move closer to the enemy instead of just campnig sitting back with DMR and Sniper won’t be so easy to use you can actually do something against a bad sniper and push off spawn. You won’t get spawn killed as easy yay
because 343 wants everyone to be good at sniping, and descope and significant flinch just make it too hard. Don’t worry you’ll instantly respawn and be able to kill the sniper while he’s still week, so it all evens out.
Flinching is a mechanic that still asks of players to be more skillful of their sticks when scoped but it is not as damaging for higher sensitivity players like de-scoping is.
Where flinching asks all players to maintain a level of comfortable control over their reticle no matter the stick sensitivity, de-scoping is much less effective on low sensitivity users as their reticle does not deviate anywhere as far as high sensitivity users when kicked out of scope.
Probably because people using the Fishstick controls would get annoyed, when they hold LT and they get shot out of scope they would have to let go and hold LT again. I think when in scope and you’re hit the screen should just flash white like the Magnum from Halo: CE.

I use fishstick and I really would prefer getting shot out of the scope.

LT to zoom/ scope-in works the same way as R3/L3. You can either “click” it in, or hold it in.

Wouldnt really be affective at long range, and you can spam shots with any weapons. It mainly depends on the player using the weapon
Getting knocked out of scope is dumb and I’m glad they scraped it. Naturally whoever gets descoped first just dives for cover being at a disadvantage, and scoped fights rarely get resolved. It promotes campiness and hiding as a result and makes the game worse

So if I get hit first and I dont get descoped I still wouldn’t run for cover?
The person that didnt rely on the scope could get the kill, at least campers didnt exist as much compared to H4, If you got descoped you were more likely going to die but at least you would have some tactical awareness and be able to counter the camper.

This is asinine. It’s change for the sake of change and they can argue till they’re purple in the face that is beneficial in some ambiguous way but in all seriousness its a core mechanic that is currently destroying gameplay mechanics of Halo
