Why can’t we have a Custom Game Browser so we can play our Custom Game Modes? WTH is the problem!! ![]()
Example:
My guess is that this is in the works or plans for Halo Infinite. It has great success previously. Many common and expected modes have yet to be placed in the game. The focus is probably on those such as Co-op Campaign and Forge.
So they can drip-feed stuff.
The problem is the developer. Nonstop rotating temps, the guys who built the slipspace engine being some of the ones who were rotated out. The reason we don’t have any roadmaps is because they don’t have them either. There’s tons of stories of the troubled development this game had and it’s no surprise to me with how much is missing because from what I can see there was never a single core aim for this title just a bunch of ideas from different sides of the table. Its almost as if they had 8+ different teams of temps and contract employees working on their own respective parts of the game and then the in house devs, the actual 343 permanent employees had to try and bash all of the pieces together to try and make a cohesive experience but failed miserably at said attempt, not because they’re bad at what they do but because there is no aim, there’s no primary direction. Between that and the corpo mtx milking this title was doomed from the start. The studio needs a shake up from bottom to top or every demand the fans make will just go unheard as it has for years now. The only reason mcc did as good as it has in recent years is because most of the development on those ports was done by certain affinity, ruffian and splash damage. 343 did the ui and netcode. I think we all remember how those worked (they didn’t) when mcc launched in 2014.
They have quite a few things to work on before they deal with custom games. Like for example, the MASSIVE amounts of people who are quitting in droves due to the lack of content, no community, lack of communication…

AMEN BROTHER!!! I could not have said it better

If 343 gives us forge, custom game settings that work, and a browser, we will entertain ourselves. No need for them. How will they MTX us then?
By charging for specific batches to be used in forge. Watch, it’ll happen.

If this becomes a reality, then goodbye Halo, I have loved you throughout the years, but you are dead.
Unfortunately, it’s like they want a massive initial influx of cash , then they will ‘fix’ it after they have made back the 500mil and some profit. So I can nearly guarantee they will charge for something on forge, and hell maybe even charge people to put them into it’s own ‘store’ where the people who download have to pay 100 credits or something, and the person who created it gets half, to try and convince people it’s a good idea.

Then back to MCC I go. Anybody that enjoys playing Halo should, just to show 343, this is what we want. It really has everything everyone is asking of Infinite.
Part of that lack of content is not having a custom game browser (and custom games being broken).
While we’re waiting for new maps and modes, we could be having fun with custom games.
I hope not.
I feel that the entire point of this not being added yet, is because they want most people to stay within the arena, because they know that the lack of content will make a lot of people leave, and they have to compensate that with keeping them in the small number of playlists.

Custom games would make up for that, but I think the real goal is keeping players interested in challenges and events (and XP boosts, challenge swaps, the shop, etc. as a result).
If we had custom games, people might be distracted enough by them to not care as much about cosmetics for a while.
I’m guessing that might also be why co-op (no cosmetics to use in campaign) and Forge keep getting delayed.
It’s definitely a possibility, and I didn’t really think of it that way with the swaps, and xp boosts. I just knew that if they made people leave, then less people would be wanting to play, meaning less money in general because of the entire market. They have tried to tailor this to make money, but in general, all they are doing is scaring off the fan base that put Halo where it was to begin with. They really should rethink this F2P thing, and the management that let it get this bad.

My slightly unoriginal and farfetched theory is that they’re trying to get as much money as they can as quickly as they can, and that they want Halo to be ruined so they can work on games other than Halo, since there was so much backlash for the changes they wanted to make to the series (because those changes made the games feel less like Halo).
Would be an absolute shame to ruin Halo just for a money grab. They could have made the game like the other Halos, made money, and done less work than what they have presented to us.

If they charge for Forge…GOODBYE HALO (without a new team developing the next games).
