One thing I don’t understand is why we cannot explore the North-Eastern Islands of the map we currently have in Halo Infinite.
Like sure, the latter-portions of the game take place there.
BUT after those missions are completed and we have an aircraft we can spawn an the F.O.B.s, why can’t we venture out to those islands and explore them? It is pretty much a tease to show all that landscape that dominates roughly 1/3 the map and we cannot go there except for a single canyon in a vehicle-oriented portion of the game.
What gives?
Are there plans that when the next portion of the campaign is nearing its release that 343 will update the game to allow us to explore those areas to get new skulls, cosmetics, F.O.B.s, marines, and a few more missions where we would thereby be able to lead into the second part of the campaign when it is finally released 2-3 years down the line?
Or is that where the Forge Map will take place once Certain Affinity is done developing that portion of the game?

So you can’t visit it even after beating the campaign? Ok that’s good to know. I was going to try and go there at some point.

Cut content or DLC I guess

Yeah, I suspect some additional islands may be added and more empty portions have some sort of activities added to them. If they were just there for skybox then why don’t we have any of the other islands like the one with the Guardian on?

Yea its actually BS. I was pissed after I found out that I would just blow up if tried to go there. huge tease. They haven’t said anything about it either as far as I know. They’re just disappointing people with no shame.

Currently going through a second playthrough skullhunting. Going to see if I can even explore those islands by using my grappling hook or if it will give me the kill barrier warning once I venture too far from the canyon.
It’s all kill barrier. So sad they offer 1/3 of the map only to lock everyone out of it. I hoped after beating the main campaign that it’d open up for extra stuff but no. You can’t even get to that side of the map anymore at all from what I’ve seen so far. Disappointing.

Those other landmasses will most definitely be added for future content. And, obviously they aren’t currently explorable since the assets have been removed. There are ways to glitch over there, iirc there are youtube videos that explore those areas.
I don’t feel gipped at all by the cut content. A previous poster said “huge tease,” but thats kinda the point. 343i said that they had to cut content due to development problems/time, and it’d be a huge waste to just trash all of that content.
Imagine if we could go to that landmass with all the assets in place, but none of the story tie-ins. It’d just be silly and out of place.

Or they decide to change the entire layout and have people be giant man babies they changed it.
Shut the thread down. This is the answer. Nothing more need be said.

So I recently found out why the map was not as big as planned.
Covid had slowed production so much that even though they had the mini-map drafted up and made the lower-poly models for the islands; they didn’t have the more detailed models, environments, and objectives applied to that 1/3 of the map.
So as a result, they had to release the game with a mini-map that displays more than it should and islands that if we were allowed to explore; players would complain about the lack of proper terrain and low-grade textures.
This also makes sense as to why the Forward-Operations-Bases are out of order.

Notice how there is no “I” or “M” placements of the F.O.B.s? There is no F.O.B. India or F.O.B. Mike. Likely because they were supposed to be on these other islands. Who knows, perhaps in the base game was originally meant to go all the way to F.O.B. Zulu, but there wasn’t enough time to implement all the islands due to Covid shutting down and slowing production?

Hang on, is there a next portion of the game going to be released?
Because then you wouldn’t buy the DLC set there, silly.
In all seriousness, it’s in a pretty unfinished state. While it is possible to glitch over there, all that awaits you is a sniper rifle, a cut non-functional med kit, and some visual bugs. I guess it was either always intended for DLC or is evidence of a rushed development.
In the military, there’s also some superstition (or respect?) for historical events. In many U.S. Army organizations, there is no India Company, as it was one of the five completely wiped out at the Battle of Little Big Horn (Custer’s Last Stand). I’m not Army, so I can’t say if this holds true across the board. I want to say I’ve heard similar for Mike companies, but I can’t say for sure. I thought it was a nice little tip of the cap to military traditions to have them missing.

Makes sense for Companies but these were the location of bases, not soldier groupings.
Why not name them “Isaac” and “Minos” or something along those lines then?
It might be the difference of them being marines instead of soldiers? It may be true for the army, but not navy (which the UNSC is)?
While I know we have Wasps to fly around in - imagine them adding in Acrophobia to this game eventually too.
I hope this title gets the same kind of continued support that MCC has in the last 4 years.
I do enjoy that skull in MCC games, but with the skybox, the wasp and the grapple hook, I don’t really see the point.

because you haven’t bought that DLC yet, and they haven’t even started developing it the way things have gone.
