At first I thought instant respawns were only in matchmaking, but it turns out, they’re in custom games as well. I’ve tried everything to turn off the “press X to respawn” option, but nothing works. Even if you set the respawn timer to 2 minutes, you can completely bypass that and just press X to respawn. The only gametype that does not have instant respawns is CTF. I tried creating a map where the flags were hidden and tucked away where no one could possibly get them, so I could play slayer on that map. The problem here is that you can’t see your kills go up, and there’s no option to create a slayer flag gametype like in Halo Reach. The best I could do was make a 1v1 gametype, where each player is limited to 15 lives… Even then, you won’t be able to see your score at all.
343i, PLEASE patch this and allow us to play without instant respawns. Instant respawns are ok for some gametypes, but when you’re trying to play slayer, oddball, or king of the hill, having a never ending barrage of players come at you completely ruins the game. At the very least, allow us to disable this in the custom gametype options!
It has instant respawns. It’s just very frustrating that there’s even a “Respawn Settings” option when making a custom gametype, but no matter how long you put the respawns at, they can instantly come back. Again, it’s good for some gametypes, and bad for others, so it’s confusing as to why it’s forced onto all games aside from CTF…
I’m trying to make a Classic Slayer gametype (1 point for each kill, 25 points to win, no ordnance, no armor abilities) and it turns out perfectly, the announcer even says “Slayer” instead of “Infinity Slayer” at the beginning, BUT… it’s ruined by instant respawns and it’s really stupid that 343 hasn’t made anything about it, Halo 4’s custom games just suck
