The title says most of my point. This is one of the little things that Halo 5 has gotten to me by. I find it fun being able to take an enemy vehicle and start crushing the enemy with it. It has been part of Halo since Halo 2, and now you want to take that awesomeness away?
I’m starting to fear the logic 343 brings to the table when it comes to decisions like this one.
But… We can. Unless you are referring to WZFF, in which case I think it’s stupid that I can’t hijack enemy vehicles despite them being able to hijack mine.

That is what I am referring to
For normal vehicles in WZFF, I think we should be able to hijack them, though I can also see why we can’t. Ghosts are extremely useful in WZFF, as you can splatter basically anything but Knights and Hunters, including Elite and Soldier bosses in one hit. Being only REQ level 3 and extremely common, it’s assumed you can basically call in a Ghost whenever you want, so there’s really no need to take the enemies’. Bosses on the other hand, I don’t think you should be able to board, that would make it way too easy, your entire team could just steal Temple Ghosts from the Jockeys and splatter them with their own Ghosts, making the round almost pointless. Or boarding Tankmaster Rok/Luk or the Mantis commanders would make the rounds a throwaway.

Honestly, if you’re lucky enough to get close to one of those guys without dying, you DESERVE to be able to at least do the melee part of boarding.

Nah. If your teammates are distracting them it’s pretty easy. I’ve tried to melee Mantes to death a bunch of times without boarding them. It never works, but I try.
I think that we should be able to do the same thing to the AI that they can do to us. We can take back vehicles that they have taken from us, but we cannot get in their vehicles they start with. Not sure that should be the way it is. I used my Req’s for this vehicle, destroy it and kill me, but dont let the AI take it from me if I can’t take one from them. As far as boarding larger vehicles goes, I think again we should be able to do the same thing to them that they do to us. They cannot plant grenades or melee us all the way, only damage the vehicle enough to make it an easier kill. I think we should be able to do the same, it is only fair.
It’s probably too easy a feat for Warzone Firefight. Take out any vehicle with some handy plasma pistoling and boarding?

Bosses should still have to be destroyed but I’m not seeing the justification for being unable to board regular AI controlled vehicles. It would usually still have pretty high risk too imo considering the amount of AI infantry that peg you every time you peek out from cover.

I could see that distinction being allowed, I just don’t know if it’s even a possible distinction without some kind of tweaking on the back end.

That may well be the case. Hopefully it won’t be an issue and gets patched.
For normal enemy vehicles and not Ghost Scout or Banshee raiders or names Phaetons, We should be able to hijack and for the named ones, we should at least be able to board and melee to do damage or drop a nade and take a chunk of health away.
On Raid on Apex 7, during the final round, if you get the Phaeton Boss and Tankmaster Rok Mythic Boss, you can actually lure the banshees into the main base, and it will give you the option to skyjack them for free, cheers!
Yeah this has bugged me too, the amount of times I’ve been close enough for a Hijack and not been able to do one is annoying. As others have mentioned it get it with the likes of a boss or more powerful REQ vehicles but for your bog standard Ghost,Hog,Banshee etc I see no reason as to why it’s not allowed.
If its a boss then no. Basically ruins the essentials of a boss, unless you mean board it and plant a grenade. It should be like the warden eternal though, take its hp down enough to be able to board and plant a grenade, but then you have a tank that would shoot it so really whats the point of it. I think a couple of times I hijacked a ghost from a soldier, probably because the soldier hijacked it from someone else LOL
While I also feel that AI vehicles in WZFF should be boardable/hijackable (especially since we players are), I’m betting the logic behind it is to prevent vehicle bosses from being instakilled and removing the challenge. I think a good compromise would be to make vehicle bosses hijackable/boardable at low health, similar to how boss infantry units are only able to be assassinated at low health.
Or maybe we should be able to board them but at the end of the round we are forced out of the vehicle Andi t is destroyed, to avoid going through rounds with ease with a stolen phaeton.
If we can’t hijack an enemy vehicle, we should at least be able to board it and pummel it. Personally though, WZFF is a player vs AI mode and so I’m not too stressed about how easy it might make the mode. Players should be rewarded for successful risks and smart plays. But I have a feeling it more likely comes down to the difference of players getting good gear by killing enemies and not using REQs and thus not buying more REQ Packs. Sure, you can get some REQ weapons from dead enemies, buts that chump change compared to a Temple Wraith.
It’d also help if they made AI controlled vehicles (and weapons, but that’s a slightly different topic) have the same durability and power as player controlled ones. Then, it wouldn’t be “op” if we could hijack them.
Or how about at least indicating somehow whether a vehicle is boardable or not before we are right up there trying?
