fifth gear pulled it off, go to 3:17
why can’t a warthog do that? the car in the vid was doing 36 mph, and the warthog’s top speed is around 100 kph. hell the mongoose goes fast enough to do a loop. this has pissed me off so much ever since halo 3 when i tried to create a loop that worked, but the physics didn’t allow for it. i was hoping bungie would fix it with reach, but they didn’t, and even worse they made all the vehicles out of lightweight plastic. i know halo doesn’t conform to realism in a lot of aspects, but this is one which could greatly benefit how awesome race maps could be.
why do vehicles suddenly hit an invisible wall as soon as they hit a surface too steep? why was that even programmed into the physics? it makes no sense. i want race maps with loops god -Yoink!-! i know we don’t know if halo 4’s vehicles will act the same way, but it’s likely they will, since this feature isn’t exactly in high demand… but it’s been one of those things i’ve always wanted to happen in halo…
no really thanks for the input guys, appreciate it!
I think 343i are less focused on “Hmm how do we make warthogs do cool tricks?” and more on “How to make Halo 4 fun and balanced?”.
When is the ability to go over a loop going to ever be needed in a traditional matchmaking game?
i faceplamed i soon as i read this thread
> When is the ability to go over a loop going to ever be needed in a traditional matchmaking game?
when did i ever say it was? i only said it would make race maps much more awesome, and it would spawn the possiblilty of driving on walls and ceilings with the new player traits zones. i’m saying it would create amazing custom game opportunities and awesome race maps! this isn’t about matchmaking.
Reasons:
#1 Because when it comes to physics. Real Life > Video Games
#2 There is no reason for an ATV in a video game like Halo 2 do a loop-de-loop. Yeah, if it was in real life, it might be able to do it, but in a video game it’s one of those “It’s not needed to make the game good”, If you really want it, I can always come up with some other game modes we can add to the game if you really want vehicles in Halo to be able to do loops like that. I bet the Cleaning the weapons game mode will be very popular.[/sarcasm]

oh come on, this might not be the most important issue in a halo game, but don’t tell me the possibilities this tiny change could create aren’t awesome.

It’s still unnecessary compared to practically every other issue with the game.
There are plenty of Race maps with loops in them. They use man cannons.

so you are saying there is no reason to enable vehicles to drive around loops in a game which the primary purpose is too shoot things? so why do people create racetracks? jump maps? puzzle maps?because they offer new, interesting and alternative ways to play the game. sometimes i get bored of shooting things and go build a ramp in forge. why? because it’s fun and because i can.
you are missing the point. i don’t want halo to conform to reality in every possible way. i only used the fact that it was possible to do in real life to combat any claim that it just isn’t feasibly possible IRL so it would look out of place in a halo game.
this isn’t something i feel extremely strong about, i mean it’s not like im gonna boycott the game if this feature is not in, it’s just something that i think would improve a certain aspect of halo. and that is halo race maps. don’t tell me it isnt a part of halo, there’s already race gametype.
> There are plenty of Race maps with loops in them. They use man cannons.
they aren’t ever a good solution as it isn’t that the vehicles cannot find the momentum to go around the loop, the wheels straight up stop rolling for no reason as soon as you hit that “too steep” barrier. because of this the vehicle usually crashes around the inside of the loops because the wheels wont carry the vehicle forwards, forcing the man cannons to flip you.

this is exactly the kind of stuff i want to recreate in halo.

i can’t be the only one who thinks cool tricks are fun.
Hopefully it’s fixed in halo 4 and if not lets hope the gravity zones will allow us to do the loop.

I think you’re the one who isn’t getting the point. Yes I know, people make all sorts of things in Halo, but Halo’s main thing is a FPS, not a sand box game like MineCraft or Gmod. Yeah, it might be cool, but it’s not on the damn top of the list of things that is going to be added to Halo any time soon, hell, it’s on the bottom of the “If we run out of things to do” list.
To be honest the camera does spas out when you get towards inverted and it is pretty annoying for some things in forge but about 99% of the time your in Halo you’ll be standing vertical so i guess that’s what they’ll concern themselves with
Sure, it would be cool the first couple of time to see a Warthog do a loop. But then what? It would get rather stale and nobody would do it anymore.
Is it really worth putting in the time and effort in something like that? Or is that time better spent working on something that will last? Or on fixing bugs and glitches?
The small things make the game way better and enjoyable.
It’s annoying to see the [negativity] of the replies.
