Why can't Sprint/Crouch be on same button?!?!

It can and it would work. Here’s how;

(and from this point on, I’m going to refer to clicking in the left analog stick as L3, to simplify)

Hold L3 while standing still to crouch (or tap to do a quick crouch). Move analog stick while holding L3 to crouch-walk.

Press L3 while holding forward on the analog stick to sprint. Let the analog stick center to stop sprinting.

While in the air, press or hold L3 to crouch-jump

***Here’s where people get confused;

While running, you don’t have to HOLD L3, so you can run and jump and immediately crouch-jump after by pressing L3. Even if you had to hold L3, you could just release it then press it again once in the air in order to crouch-jump.

When wanting to run immediately after landing a crouch-jump, let go of L3 and press it in again once on the ground.

See how holding L3 doesn’t transfer from being on the ground to being in the air or vice versa? In other words, if you’re still holding L3 when you land a jump, it has no effect. It needs to be pressed again after you’ve landed. Conversely, if you’re running while holding L3, and you decide to jump, the continuous holding of L3 won’t make you crouch-jump. You have to let go of L3 and press it again while in mid-air in order to crouch jump.

No. It would be too hard to adapt to.

So, like BF3 where you sprint with L3? Cool idea, but that would throw me off for a few tries.

don’t want to have to stop moving to crouch

> don’t want to have to stop moving to crouch

It doesn’t have to be at dead-center. Maybe if the analog stick is less than 50% pushed forward it will let you crouch. That’s just a random number, and I’m sure 343 could come up with a better one. Key point, if you want to sprint, hold forward all the way before clicking L3.

And yes, it will take a little getting used to, there’s new control schemes we will have to adjust to anyway. Keep in mind, the future of crouch-jumping hangs on this!

Or you could put Sprint on LB, AA on RB, and keep crouch on L3.

Durrr

It would be better if they are separate buttons and worked instead of the same button and a hassle.

And I guess move Melee to B? And grenade switching to Up-D-pad?

Precisely. Melee doesn’t need to be used while looking around of moving, it is just tapped, so it can be on B. Grenade switching is hardly ever used and can be on the D-Pad.

I’ll just give a quick explanation of why I think that Certain things should be on certain buttons.

Let’s start with all the things that everyone does while moving/aiming: Sprint, AA, Crouch, Zoom, Shooting, and Grenade Throwing.

Because these things need to be used this way, that means that only the index or middle finger should be used to do these things, while the thumbs are used for aiming and moving.

So then the buttons that can be used while moving and aiming are LT, RT, LB, RB, L3, R3.

Isn’t this great? There are 6 options for 6 functions, so my Control Scheme for these buttons would be so:

LT: Grenade Throw
RT: Shoot
LB: Sprint
RB: AA
L3: Crouch
R3: Zoom

As well as filling out the rest for my dream scheme:

Y: Switch Weapons
X: Reload
A: Jump
B: Melee
Left-Right D-Pad: Grenade Switching

So all the functions on the second list only needed to be tapped, or held for a short time while not needed to aim. (I.E. Picking up weapons and getting into vehicles.)

So basically, I think that it’s important that both lists have the same functions in each list, but can be rearranged in the way you’d like it.

That’s just my two cents of what I believe should be in a control scheme and I understand not everyone likes to follow this. Have nice day

EDIT: They better put this control scheme in the game or I’m gonna range though.

I want your controller scheme or one with AA on LB and Sprint on RB. Since you can shoot with some armour abilities and you do not need to with sprint.

I didn’t even think about that, maybe I’ll change those two as well. Just might take a little bit of time to get used to sprint on RB instead.

No, I have a feeling that would get kinda annoying…

  • I don’t have problem with crouch on sprint being different buttons.

It would take a bit to get used to but I would use the control scheme either way.

Gotta disagree with you there. Moving while meleeing is very important. ask anyone who uses the boxer control scheme.

What’s L3? Left Thumbstick?

Well it could be a scheme for people who melee less. I don’t aim and melee at the same time much at all.

Or, you could just press B to crouch, and not care whether it’s similar to CoD or not.

> Or, you could just press B to crouch, and not care whether it’s similar to CoD or not.

I play CoD and I switch my control scheme s B isn’t crouch. I like being able to crouch and aim at the same time during combat.

You’d need at least 5 different option anyway, for all the different control schemes. I use Bumper Jumper, so I’d like everything the same, put Sprint on X and AAs on A

RT: Shoot
LT: Grenade
RB: Melee
LB: Jump
L3: Crouch
R3: Zoom
Y: Switch Weapons
B: Reload / Pickup weapons
X: Sprint (AAs in Reach)
A: AAs (Grenade switching in Reach)
Up (Dpad): Set Frags
Right (Dpad): Set Plasmas
Down (Dpad): Set 3rd grenade
Left (Dpad): Set 4th grenade

I don’t want to scroll through 4 grenades just to go from stickies to frags. Plus if you hit it one too many times you’d have to scroll through them all again. That’s a lot of unnecessary time spent without a thumb on the right stick. Make it simple to go from any grenade to any grenade.

LT: Grenade
RT: Shoot
LB: AA
RB: Sprnt
LS: Crouch
RS: Zoom
Y: Switch Weapons
X: Reload
A: Jump
B: Melee
UPD-Pad: Switch Grenades

I’d be very sad without this controller scheme.
