Why can't plasma weapons do headshots?

They already altered damage characteristics with the storm rifle, making it basically a projectile firing assault rifle. Why can’t a semi-auto, spreadless, plasma weapon kill with headshots; its just an extra layer of skill and complexity in the game.

Headshots would be way too easy to get with the storm rifle. Its the same reason why they dont do it with the assault rifle.

Gameplay reasons, they can in canon.

The Carbine is semi auto and kills with headshots. Though it isn’t plasma weaponry, we haven’t had a precision plasma weapon yet. I think we should have headshot multipliers for automatic weapons when shields are droped

And that would be a problem IF you left headshots as a one shot kill. Why not do as Space Marine or Section 8 have much more intelligently done and treated headshots as a damage bonus for ALL projectile weapons (energy or physical)? That way you don’t have quarter of the sandbox (ie. all automatic weapons) made arbitrarily made less useful because they can’t as effectively handle a shield-less player.

Halo CE had a headshot multiplier, where the damage was basically doubled, even if the enemy still had shields. A Plasma Rifle could go from a 15sk to an 8sk.

The Halo CE Plasma Rifle was almost perfectly accurate if you tapped the trigger.

Easier than swiping with the BR? Plasma weapons are projectile, so you’d have to do some incredible leading to achieve the minimum killtime.
