Why Cant Halo, Be Halo?

Listen say what you will, but Halo 5, doesn’t feel like a Halo game to me at all. Halo 5 feels more like COD, and now COD is copping Halo! What The -Yoink-! Why can’t we at least have a classic playlist, or better yet…
A HALO GAME THAT FEELS LIKE -Yoinking!- HALO!!!

Now, I can sit here all day, in my basement and complain and -Yoink-, wine. We can all sit in our basements and -Yoink-, and complain, and wine, and think were actually doing something. Well I’m gonna be a hypocrite and sit in my basement and -Yoink-, and complain, and wine, because simply that’s all I can do.
So, lets start off with the campaign, now The Act Man was pretty -Yoinking!- brutal, and he nit picked every -Yoinking!- thing about Halo 5’s campaign, so I wont stay on it too long. Halo 5’s levels feel like an arena. Like big hallways that your force through with one slightly bigger hallway that you fight off enemies at. Then you go through another hallway that you are forced through to fight more enemies. Halo is known for big open levels that you can use many strategies and aren’t open world, but are very big. The music as well, the music sounds like its from a generic action movie, and don’t fit Halo, not saying all of them are bad, but there not all good. The music is a simple fix, bring back Marty O’Donnell, he even said he would.
Now my next two are things that the Halo community has beat into the ground already, The art style, and The game play. The art style of the covenant has been rejected by almost all of the Halo community, and about the biggest sin they did is make the once cute grunts, look like -Yoinking!- -Yoink!- slaves! They do, look at an old grunt, now look at a 343 grunt, if one of those new what ever you call thems said “-Yoinking!- Kill Me Now!” it wouldn’t feel out of place, because they look like they have a -Yoink- forced down them every second of their life. And what the hell hapend when creating the -Yoinking!- crawlers, like what the hell guys, the forerunners would never make a robot dog as one of their main soldiers.
Also the Elites look like dinosaurs.
And the game play, all of these sprints and clambers with the spartan chargies and thrusting on thongs. Why is this in a Halo game, come on why just why. Now why don’t we have classic game play, why cant we. WHY Why does it always have to be new sprinties and chargies and -Yoinking!- fast paced -Yoink-, when all we want is the slow calculated movement of Halo where everything is balanced.
My solution to this is simple, why don’t we have 2 playlists if you really want all your sprint -Yoink- in the game. How about we have one with classic game play, and one with the new 343 all hip and radical game play.

-Why can’t we have Halo back

This exact same topic has been posted as a new thread SO MANY TIMES! It’s not original! It’s the same argument made over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and…
…Seemingly almost as many times as the majority number of players that have exodused.

Perhaps there’s something to it?

H5 feels like Halo to me. I really don’t get all this “cod feel”… does halo give you kills when you shot some one like twice in the leg? no it doesn’t… it still has a good ttk and shooting accurately still matters a lot. you still have to earn those kills. Halo game play has changed a lot over the years so there really is no set “feel” IMO. if old Halo is what you want go to mcc or h3 on Xbox 360. mcc worked fine last time I played it. h3 gets voted majority of the time in BTB. it’s not like there is no way to play “old Halo”.

I like the new covie art style especially the jackels

I want to comment properly on this, but half of this comment is exaggerated or just shoving in insults without any construction.

Like these lines in particular.

Because 343 wants to make everything new, improved, and most importantly, theirs. 343 wants people to think of 343 instead of Bungie when they see Halo, so 343 changes things to draw in a new crowd, the 343 crowd. By doing so, they knowingly throw out the veteran Halo players, but they don’t care. Halo has become the abused poster child of Xbox and Microsoft. It isn’t the fun game made by a bunch of people with good, fun ideas anymore, it’s just another generic profit-based game.

  • Halo 5 has a ton of levels that are open and let you fight how you want. The campaign’s levels were excellently crafted, story is a different topic, but I haven’t had as much fun in a Halo campaign since ODST
  • Marty never said he’d go back to Halo and Kazuma Jinnouchi has done a great job blending the old with the new
  • No, no it hasn’t. Plenty of people love the new Covenant design and many people would simply like to see a blend of the two art styles.
  • The grunts do not look like -Yoink!- slaves.
  • Prometheans are a different faction withing the Forerunners though. Forerunners would never do it, but Prometheans sure as hell would
  • Elites have always been -Yoinking!- dinos
  • You want classic but you want it slow? First off, it’d die in a week. Second, go play CE and see just how ‘slow’ classic Halo really is
  • Sprint has been around since Reach
  • Thrusters have been around since Reach as evade and in Halo 4, two years before they became the norm for FPS games
  • Spartans are genetically modified super soldiers, should they not be able to grab a ledge and climb up? I bet if Bungie added clamber you’d be all over it because you seemed just fine when sprint and thrusters (evade) were added to Reach. This entire thread has been you nitpicking with some of the most subjective BS I’ve ever seen in a thread on here instead of giving actual feedback for 343i to take into consideration when making the next Halo game. All this has been is a waste of time for you and everyone here.

Wait I’ve been playing Halo this entire time I just thought I was played a beta for Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare Beta. But on a serious note I do mostly agree with I think that Halo’s movement system isn’t to similar to the Call of Duty games coming out today. I think this way because in BO3 and AW you had double jumps and stupid -Yoink- like that and in Halo you have large “space” jumps but thats been in Halo forever. You also have your spartan boost which is the first similarity to BO3 and AW but not in such an extent (unless you have speed boost armor mod or power up which then it will sent you farther) which I think that this is what makes Halo not feel like Halo. Now I haven’t played all the halo games I don’t have MCC but I’ve played a little bit of Halo 2 (never owned it but played it a lot at friends house) I own Halo 3 (Personal Favorite) a little Reach and Halo 4 then Halo 5. I personally think that sprinting isn’t the problem because from Reach onward to Halo 5 has had sprinting and Reach was a great game so that cancels out sprinting as being the problem. Now next is the spartan boost well -Yoink- I think I figured it out. I feel like Halo 5 is so limited in play styles because of the spartan boost it’s almost like if in any game mode (I think that it appears worst in Warzone) but if someones shield go down they immediately will boost behind cover which if the are near cover it’s very difficult to kill the enemy. This promotes a more aggressive which I usually try to play aggressive but also be careful if I’m in slayer or whatever game mode because who likes to die in a game. Which maybe 343 wanted to promote a more aggressive play style but also it promotes camping because people will go boost and hide in a corner when there shields go down and you don’t know whether to challenge or not because for all you know there could be that guy’s entire team behind that corner. Of course I’ll probably called a hypocrite because earlier I said who likes dying in a video game and these people are just avoiding death and wanting to have a chance in the fight. But in previous Halo multiplayer’s you didn’t have a spartan boost unless you count the armor pickup from Halo 4. So I think that Halo 5 isn’t the best in multiplayer but I still enjoy it. Regardless I love Halo 5’s multiplayer and I know I didn’t cover the ground pound or spartan charge because the ground pound makes you extremely vulnerable and you’ll probably going to get shot if you try that so thats why I didn’t cover that. Also the spartan charge has a short recovery where you can’t sprint that puts you at a disadvantage.

Personally, I think this thread has been pulled apart. If you want classic Halo you’ve got the MCC. But for me I think Halo 5 is good. Sure the campaign was lacking and that ending still angers me today. But, I think 343 have done a really good job on it. And you’re saying it doesn’t feel like Halo? Sorry dude, that’s called evolution. Developer’s can’t churn out the same stuff year after year without any changes or improvements. Why do you think CoD has taken its new slightly Halo looking approach? And I’m sure if 343 didn’t add all these changes and just rehashed old stuff. You’d still complain. Give them a break, I for one think they’ve done a good job. Sure, I miss Bungie and old Halo but that’s life my friend. Get over it and just don’t play if you don’t like it. Surely, you can play MCC, Reach, Halo 3 etc.

time to move on to other games bro, you see most the community on this forum will disagree, but they are the true minority and 343i will continue catering to them and destroying the once great AAA franchise. We can just watch.

MCC is broken and reach and H3 are old games with sparse population

I completely agree, each hall has brought something new to the mix, 2 duel wielding, halo 3 brought equipment, reach brought (technically) sprint and the other armor abilities, Halo 4 brought loadouts, and 5 brought Warzone, Smart link, and sprint. halo feels like halo imo, even halo 5

(Thanks for the fix Lethal!)

Well you are mistaken H3 brought the use of equipment not the armor abilities, reach brought the armor abilities and H4 was loadouts/armor abilities.

Yeah, I’m a bit foggy at the moment lol I’m exausted, thanks for the fix mate!

Yes I agree but please don’t act like you are the first one to realize this change
